I'll start with skinny co pornstar martini mix. Tasted incredibly sweet and synthetic. It stated use 1 part vodka to 3 parts mix. I tried that too sweet added more vodka so 50/50 just about drinkable. I drank another one with the reverse ratios, almost OK but I was so drunk I fell over and knocked the TV over.

The other downside was that it stank so much so that my empty glass had made the whole room stink.

A brand new Citroen c3, bought with inheritance money from my aunt. Had it exactly a week.
139 miles on the clock. I was rear ended & the car written off.

About Dualit toasters: three or four years ago I asked about them in John Lewis. The assistant said that the cheaper ones are made abroad and are... not very good. The dearer ones (over £100 then) are made in England and are reliable and long-lasting. Most if not all the parts can be replaced.

The John Lewis website doesn’t say where most of them are made.

Dyson hot and cool - I will never forgive myself for wasting so much money on that piece of crap. I swapped it with my son for his £20 Argos fan and it's SO much better!

GinJeanie · 11/08/2021 22:51

Dyson cordless vacuum. Two years old and has already broken (not covered by guarantee as was dropped/cracked) 400 quid down the drain...

hedgiehedgehog · 11/08/2021 23:00

Cordless Dyson was awful, I even bought a second and it was equally awful. I now use a combination of a rubber broom and a Henry to get the pet hair up.

Other bad buys = juicer (a faff to clean), ice cream maker (the ice cream wasn't worth the effort), treadmill (seemed such a good idea), snooker table (novelty soon wore off), slow cooker (never used), robot cleaner (couldn't cope with pet hair or steps), fondue set (a pan on a portable electric ring is far superior), Smeg kettle (expensive and only lasted 18 months)

A root canal treatment done privately a few weeks ago. The first stage resulted in a horrific abscess that made my face swell up to twice its normal size and gave me three days (and nights) of unbearable pain. It all seemed to have settled after stage two, but my bloomin' tooth has only started throbbing again tonight and I can't bear it. £700 NOT well spent. I'm ready to rip the thing out.

bogoffmda · 11/08/2021 23:05

Too many pairs of shoes and boots that claim to be women size 10 and when they arrive are a fecking UK size 8 EU 42.

NigellaSeed · 11/08/2021 23:05

Cossato high chair. Under the difficult to clean and nigh on impossible to remove cushion, is a plastic waffle grid that collects pools of sludge and only way to clean it is upside down in the garden with a hose! £140??!!!

Benjispruce5 · 11/08/2021 23:08

Bosch Athlete cordless vaccum cleaner. Just got bound up with hair that you have to cut off every week! For £250??? So glad I kept my Henry.

IndigoC · 11/08/2021 23:11

Miele Blizzard CX1 vacuum cleaner.

£300 for a heavy POS that has no happy medium between doesn’t suck at all to sucks carpet so hard it’s immovable. This is despite having a dial for setting suction power. Every time I use it I end up a sweaty, exhausted mess.

blueshoes · 11/08/2021 23:13

My first property. Rushed in and lost a sold at a loss.
Spiralizer - cost much less
Standing steam iron - got no creases out and took up a lot of space
Cot - never used. Velcro dcs.

cheeseisthebest · 11/08/2021 23:16

I had a shark. Absolutely crap. I'd had it for over 6 months but managed to return it and got a full refund.

HaveringWavering · 11/08/2021 23:16

robot cleaner (couldn't cope with pet hair or steps)

@hedgiehedgehog, you didn’t seriously expect a robot cleaner to be able to go up and down steps? Grin

goingtotown · 11/08/2021 23:17

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer conditioning hair treatment, my hair was in worse condition after using it.

TatianaBis · 11/08/2021 23:19

@AdaFuckingShelby

Cheap clothes from Amazon. All shit but I'm crap at returning things so they ended up going to charity.
What does crap at returning things mean? You mean you don’t return them 😂
PostMenWithACat · 11/08/2021 23:20

I love my Dyson cordless, Lakeland airer, and cat.
The Rover 416i 25 years ago was another matter. And the KittyJet electric, water propelled tooth flosser - now that really was a rip off.

TatianaBis · 11/08/2021 23:22

@Suchalicklepumpkin

Cuisinart soft serve ice cream machine. I actually hate ice cream.
I love ice cream, does it need a home?
thatonesmine · 11/08/2021 23:23

Splashed out on some expensive linen pyjamas, they look lovely but are ridiculously hot. In the 2 years I've had them I've worn them twice, on the coldest nights of the year with the window wide open.

TatianaBis · 11/08/2021 23:25

Portable infrared sauna. £600, used once.

NoProblem123 · 11/08/2021 23:27

Nutribullet - I put weight on, spent a fortune on ingredients, and it’s all a pain to wash.
Now it’s only used for blitzing biscuits for a cheesecake base Grin

FortunesFave · 11/08/2021 23:29

Op...anything called "Pornstar" is going to taste like shit.

EadnothTheStaller · 11/08/2021 23:30

This thread has made me really glad that I'm essentially tight! Grin

NoProblem123 · 11/08/2021 23:32

And a Hypnos mattress with big puffy million tog quilt - makes my bedroom look like something out of a magazine but I actual can’t sleep in it as it’s too hot !
I’ve even skimmed down the quilt to summer weight but still boiling. I lie on it naked and quiltless, window open and fan on, and it’s like sleeping on a bbq.

Timeisavirtue · 11/08/2021 23:32

The Italian takeaway we ordered on Monday, it was vile! We thought we’d give it a try as they were always busy and they started delivering in our area, never again....

eeek88 · 11/08/2021 23:32

A man persuaded me to buy a lorry I didn’t need and couldn’t drive that he then moved into and lived in for several years, unbeknownst to me fending off all potential suitors by looking proprietorial every time a man spoke to me. There are cheaper ways to transport horses.

The cheaper way is buying a Nissan x trail and trailer, then within a few years having to scrap Nissan because it has an irreplaceable circuit board in the accelerator pedal that randomly fucks up.

The even cheaper solution is a global pandemic followed by a baby that buries all dreams of taking horses to fun places. And an £800 jeep Cherokee that I pray will still be running by the time I get my life back on track.
