I'll start with skinny co pornstar martini mix. Tasted incredibly sweet and synthetic. It stated use 1 part vodka to 3 parts mix. I tried that too sweet added more vodka so 50/50 just about drinkable. I drank another one with the reverse ratios, almost OK but I was so drunk I fell over and knocked the TV over.

The other downside was that it stank so much so that my empty glass had made the whole room stink.

@Hopdathelf

Dyson Airwrap. Total waste of money and takes up lots of space.
Oh I love my airwrap!
AllAroundTheWorldYeah · 11/08/2021 19:03

@Window1

Air Fryer

Soup Maker - except for maybe three times per year.

Surprised to see an air fryer on this list! We use ours everyday!
TheWeeDonkeyFella · 11/08/2021 19:03

My house - got scumbag neighbours.

thebear1 · 11/08/2021 19:05

In hindsight my house was a bad investment but it has been a good home. Slow cooker hardly gets used but takes up space. I hated the Macbook I got and went back to a Windows laptop within 12 months.

ripplestitchblank · 11/08/2021 19:12

Unpopular opinion:
My Shark vacuum cleaner.

It can't handle anything more than tiny bits. I miss my Henry.

LandGirlJudy · 11/08/2021 19:16

Dualit toaster and kettle. Lasted less time than the cheap supermarket ones I had previously

Yes! I wanted a Dualit toaster for years, finally got one, only lasted a year and the spring in the poppy up lever bit broke!

Ninja air fryer - never got round to using it after 8 months
Instant Pot - used once
Knitting macine - £400 and can't figure out how to use the bastard thing

User7458 · 11/08/2021 19:17

Instant Pot, the only thing I have used it for is pressure cooking our home grown beetroot, so probably 3 or 4 times a year,

Several attachments for my Kitchenaid which seemed a good idea at the time, I use the Kitchenaid a lot just not the expensive attachments

A bread maker is the most useless thing I’ve ever bought. It’s never made an edible loaf of bread and takes up too much space in a cupboard. It’s going to a charity shop tomorrow - maybe someone else will be able to make a loaf of bread they can actually eat.

I’m surprised to see air fryer on the useless list. I use mine almost everyday.

I opened the thread just to say breadmaker.
The first time I tried using it, I woke up to the delicious smell of freshly baked bread. I was so excited. Went downstairs , opened the lid. Found a flat, rock hard "loaf". Biggest disappointment ever.

suckingonchillidogs · 11/08/2021 19:31

Lakeland heated clothes dryer - it's too big and ugly!

PattyPan · 11/08/2021 19:33

@Contactlesslenses

Shark cordless vacuum, hate it. Blocks every time I use it and the pointless headlights annoy me!
The lights are great, they light up patches of dust I might otherwise have missed! They’re the feature I never knew my old Hoover was missing. I love my cordless shark, and my Dualit toaster. I use my instant pot all the time as well!

My worst purchase is fairly minor but I bought a Neom diffuser which has stubbornly refused to diffuse after the first day despite the reeds regularly being turned. Sodding thing won’t use itself up.

User7458 · 11/08/2021 19:35

We have a cheap Russell Hobbs bread maker, bread is a bit rubbish but it does make good jam which pleases DH as his jam before getting the bread maker was never very successful so it does have its uses.

@JudgeRindersMinder

Marriage licence 😂

SpnBaby1967 · 11/08/2021 19:36

Deep fat fryer. DH bought it as he wanted to make kfc style chicken, but all the steam that comes out is greasy and covers the entire kitchen and floor with a film of grease. Nasty thing.

PaddingtonsHat · 11/08/2021 19:39

Instant pot. Cannot for the life of me get any flavour into anything. Sticking to slow cooker

LampHat · 11/08/2021 19:40

Stupid £300 dyson heater / fan. 5 years later and it still makes me cross because it’s so shit, but too expensive to get rid of. Urgh.

Andante57 · 11/08/2021 19:42

Juicer.
It works fine, it’s just that it’s got quite a few components which are a bore to wash and it takes up a lot of room in the our small larder.
The pp who said buying on a whim is mistake is dead right.

Yes exactly. I’ve made around 12 attempts since, using different flour, high quality yeast… may as well chew on a building brick!

AdaFuckingShelby · 11/08/2021 19:45

Cheap clothes from Amazon. All shit but I'm crap at returning things so they ended up going to charity.

User7458 · 11/08/2021 19:46

A lot of these kitchen things that are meant to make our life easier often involve a lot of extra cleaning or fill the dishwasher I have found.

AdditionalCharacter · 11/08/2021 19:46

My ex council house! Finding problem after
problem whenever we are decorating a room. Costing me so much more than I anticipated.

Talia99 · 11/08/2021 19:48

Slow cooker. I’ve literally never used it. Bought for the person I’d like to be not the person I actually am.

Reddip · 11/08/2021 19:49

Some all singing and dancing high chair with lots of adjustable bits. Totally impractical, impossible to clean properly and difficult to move about. Wish I'd bought the £14 Ikea one that most sensible people buy!!

butterflyfox · 11/08/2021 19:51

Oh how interesting my dyson hairdryer is one of my best buys ever. Light fast leaves my hair so soft and shiny. My mistakes are anything from Boden. I keep buying things that look amazing. I try them on they look awful on me and I send them back. I’ve been doing this for 10 years. I obviously don’t learn.

pineapplecat21 · 11/08/2021 19:51

Air fryer. DH decided he liked chip pan chips better. Been sat in the cupboard for 3 years. Envy
