I'll start with skinny co pornstar martini mix. Tasted incredibly sweet and synthetic. It stated use 1 part vodka to 3 parts mix. I tried that too sweet added more vodka so 50/50 just about drinkable. I drank another one with the reverse ratios, almost OK but I was so drunk I fell over and knocked the TV over.

The other downside was that it stank so much so that my empty glass had made the whole room stink.

My Lakeland heated airer

I hate it.

I've even got the cover to speed up drying. Does it hell

And I hurt my back putting clothes on it

discodivas · 12/08/2021 18:17

Dyson handheld thingy… utter shyte. Battery goes after about 5 mins and all the sucked up stuff falls out of the front nozzle.
Only seconded by a cat that wakes me up at 4.29am every day by destroying the upholstery on my bed. Shoot me now!

liveforsummer · 12/08/2021 18:19

Definitely the shark, I got the corded one after being advised it was better than the handheld, to replace my cordless dyson, which is also shit!

I replaced battery Like a new dyson
Lakeshore6 · 12/08/2021 18:23

Can’t agree with the Shark being rubbish but last year I bought the cheapest suitcase record player in Argos. They practically destroy vinyl.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 12/08/2021 18:24

@ancientgran
I think they have installed your pump in the wrong place. It should have gone just on the supply to the bath/shower.

allofthecheese · 12/08/2021 18:25

Instant pot. It's been 4 years and I've used it twice and it was a fail. Sigh. Sitting catching dust.

Peanutsandchilli · 12/08/2021 18:27

Cloth nappies. Spent hundreds on so many different designs and inserts. Loved picking out the designs. All fucking useless. Either leaked or stayed wet for ages. Went back to disposables.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/08/2021 18:30

This thread has made me very glad my kitchen is too small to house for a lot of the gadgets I might have bought otherwise.
Having said that, I still have, and use, my trusty old Kenwood Chef, over 40 years old now.

MincePieandBaileys · 12/08/2021 18:31

Magimix food processor

I use it mainly for grating cheese, and by the time I've dismantled it and washed all the parts, would have spent less time using the manual cheese grater.

I’ve had my Dualit toaster for 22 years. It still works a treat. You can replace the elements, but I’ve never needed to. It’ll probably break tomorrow now that I’ve said this! I did have a Dualit kettle and had to return it as it leaked after six months. Years later, bought a different model Dualit kettle and it’s great. Had it five years now and it looks as good as new.

Knittingsavesme · 12/08/2021 18:35

@User7458

Instant Pot, the only thing I have used it for is pressure cooking our home grown beetroot, so probably 3 or 4 times a year,

Several attachments for my Kitchenaid which seemed a good idea at the time, I use the Kitchenaid a lot just not the expensive attachments

Also love my Instant Pot. Use it most days and far more than my cooker. In fact, I have three of them, all different sizes. I do have a bit of a love/hate thing with my bread maker. It definitely doesn’t earn its keep or the space it takes up. Not had much success with a slow cooker either, despite constantly trying.
Tightwad2020 · 12/08/2021 18:35

Diesel car.

OublietteBravo · 12/08/2021 18:35

Our Dualit toaster is 20+ years old (I’m not really sure exactly how old - DH already had it when I met him).

Laiste · 12/08/2021 18:40

Collagen powder.
I can't remember exactly how much per tub (20 quid?) but i got through 2 or 3 tubs over 3 or 4 months, used it religiously and nothing happened.

Christ knows how much. 200? I bought it thinking i was going to look Parisian Hmm Lets just say i do not. Unless it's 'un sack de pommes de terre'.

suckingonchillidogs · 12/08/2021 18:41

Just remembered another one - one of those at home teeth whitening kits where you make a mold, squeeze solution into it and shove a blue light into your gob for 20 minutes a day. I've done it religiously for a month and are my teeth any whiter? Are they feck. I'm so easily swayed by ads, I never learn!

Garfunkle · 12/08/2021 18:41

Garfunkle that's the one . I use the green pack white flour mainly and the wholemeal one as a 50:50 with white I'm not sure I could eat a pure wholemeal loaf .
Yeast is either Hovis or Sains but it needs to be well in date . I've had disappointing bread with out of date yeast

Fab! Thank you 👍 I thought I’d try wholemeal as I’m supposed to be eating “healthy” ☺️ I’ll try mixing with white then. I’ll have another go on the weekend. Wish me luck!

GrandmaSteglitszch · 12/08/2021 18:43

A 35cm chainsaw.
I read that is the ideal size for home use, if you have a lot of trees.
I, stupidly, got one without a battery & charger (mail order) but it's fortunate I didn't spend that money as the saw is too big & heavy for me.

I need to put it on FB marketplace.

I got a mini 13cm chainsaw instead which is doing great.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/08/2021 18:47

Foot spa.

Huge, took up a load of space, and while it was relaxing while your feet were in it, it was such a chart to fill up, empty and dry off that you ended up no better off (in fact worse, because there was water all over the carpet).

Laiste · 12/08/2021 18:47

Olaplex (i always want to say Opalex)

IME solid coconut oil (£5 or less) left in for an hour or so is just as good or better for blonde dry ends.

Having said that, i do really like PK Elastasiser which was mentioned up-thread. We're all different though.

Like the sound of your navy trench - I'll buy it - what size?

Shark Vacuum cleaner. Shockingly shit. Traded it in for a secondhand DysonVacuum DC04. Much better!
I've got a Shark and it's great!
Ulysses · 12/08/2021 18:50

Anything that promises me waves in my lank, fine hair, the worst offender is the Babyliss Curl secret. Used twice.

Karcher window vacuum leaves so many streak I end up polishing off with an e-cloth. I get better results with one of it's own and a bit of elbow grease.

Steam mop and steam cleaner. I bought the steam cleaner to help clean bathroom shower cubicles but have had better results with a magic sponge (the Aldi ones are just as good as the branded ones)

Gaggia coffee maker - too faffy

I love my Dyson cordless vacuum but it does require upkeep and have replaced the battery and bought spare filters to have a constant supply. The new battery was a generic one off eBay and much better than the original.
