I'll start with skinny co pornstar martini mix. Tasted incredibly sweet and synthetic. It stated use 1 part vodka to 3 parts mix. I tried that too sweet added more vodka so 50/50 just about drinkable. I drank another one with the reverse ratios, almost OK but I was so drunk I fell over and knocked the TV over.

The other downside was that it stank so much so that my empty glass had made the whole room stink.

Cake Pop maker. It would be easier to make a sponge cake and use a melon baller.
Mind you it's the dipping part I can't get the hang of. Candy Melts hate me

@Gertie75

Wooden flooring. I was told it was so much easier because I have dogs, rubbish, I had to sweep, mop and dry the thing before I could stand on it and even then it would show footprints in the areas by the patio door so only every looked properly clean for around 7.5 seconds. People suggested I put large rugs over it but what's the point in having wooden floor of in going to cover it on large squares of carpet? Which, I'll then have to roll up every time I have to mop the damn thing.

We put up with it for just over a year then went back to carpet, very expensive mistake but at least now I only have to run the vac over it and it's done.

As above.

And the hair piles up like tumbleweed, even when you sweep and hoover every single day!

Along for the good old days when it disappeared into the carpet until it got hoovered up.

Why2why · 12/08/2021 19:04

Really appreciate the wood flooring advice. I will definitely think about this as we were considering wood flooring for the future.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 12/08/2021 19:04

Hersheson Almost Everything hair product and Zhoosh foam. Made hair much worse. Can't understand why magazines etc. sing their praises. Maybe cos they get free bottles.

CherryRipe1 · 12/08/2021 19:05

A Florida timeshare (sold on with alot of difficulty)
A mandolin food prep gadget. Digit guillotine despite guard.
Thermo gravy jug. Leaky naff rubbish that barely keeps gravy warm.
Microwave chip maker from one of those gadget catalogues. Useless, chips were like wood chippings.

I love both of those, great for my long, thick, wavy hair.
FlakeorTwirl · 12/08/2021 19:09

Useless workmen. Electrician doesn't seem capable of mounting anything straight from mirror to plug sockets. Drives me crazy looking at them.
Builders supposed to lay same tiling to flow from one room to next and the tiling now dips in the old doorway. Plumber fitted new soft close toilet seat which now creaks as it shuts.
I honestly don't know why one job can't just be done right.

thedarkling · 12/08/2021 19:10

Dyson cordless - shit.

Bought a shark to replace - ok at first in comparison but now shit.

SallyOMalley · 12/08/2021 19:10

@ZimZamZoom

Really surprised at all the Dualit hate! My colleagues clubbed together to buy me one as a leaving present (I was going to university). This was in 2004 and it lasted through 3 years of 7 housemates using it daily, and it's still working merrily away for my family of 4. Dualit kettle has lasted for 10 years and counting and we're big tea and coffee drinkers.

I wish I had never bought about 50% of my childrens' toys!! They're spoilt for choice and I can see now (too late) that less is definitely more!

Same here! We bought our 4 slice dualit toaster in 2005. Still works perfectly! Clearly, standards have dropped 🍞
Sillysuzie · 12/08/2021 19:13

Oh my face sauna. I'd forgotten about it! I spent hours as a teen trying to sort my spots out with the face sauna. All it did was scald me and give me a ring round my face 🤣 utter bollocks

DottyHarmer · 12/08/2021 19:13

Can’t believe people are dissing the Lakeland heated dryer. It is my most valued possession! This “summer” it has been worth its weight in gold.

Also love my Karcher window vac. For those with a condensation problem it is great.

Agree, however, that any cordless vacuum is complete pants. I have spent a fortune on vacuum cleaners, and never found The One.

Laiste · 12/08/2021 19:15

@TatianaBis i will let you know tomorrow. It's big. 16 or an 18 i think. I'm small of waist but large of boob.

TatianaBis · 12/08/2021 19:16

That's too big for me, but it should sell well on eBay.

DirtyDancing · 12/08/2021 19:17

My £300 juicer. Used it in lockdown with the kids for a few weeks. Got up every morning and juiced with them in our PJs before the hell of home Schooling. Now I'm back buying innocent smoothies and it's back in the box. Such a bloody mess

murakamilove · 12/08/2021 19:20

Solar panels - not compatible with any electric company in our area, so no FIT for the entire 7 years! Bloody dreadful expense!

God we're having a struggle with our electrician as well. He doesn't seem able to come out to do second fit. It's been a year now! he seems to find time to send me inappropriate texts though Shock Hmm
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 12/08/2021 19:25

A half size slow cooker. Utter rubbish and doesn't work properly like a full size one. Now I use a full size one and freeze the extra prtions.

Mine creaks like a haunted house! Fitted by DH though so no plumber to blame.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 12/08/2021 19:28

Also Karcher electric window cleaner and Kirchner steam. Cleaner. Both work badly look and feel like cheap shit and cost a fortune. Gathering dust in the loft.

grapewine · 12/08/2021 19:29

Wooden flooring.

Yes. Especially in the kitchen. I rent, or I'd change it.

I can’t get the cap off!!! I have completely expelled all steam. Any advice??
secondhandcat · 12/08/2021 19:30

Am beginning to feel like the most extravagant and uninformed shopper ever, but these purchases were made over a period of some years.
A clothes steamer thing: I much prefer ironing and haven't worked out how to steam trousers, or the bottom of a dress so I never use it. (waiting for husband to not notice I'm putting it in the garage and then finding it a new home)
A one year subscription to a pottery magazine which I began it the week I started the class, but then had to give up a few weeks later as I had to go into hospital. And then lost interest. (long gone to charity shop)
An electrical steam mop which I happily used on our wooden floor until husband told me I wasn't supposed to use it on that kind of surface. (in garage now somewhere and waiting for new home)
Coffee maker which kept getting bunged up and now sits on the side getting in the way and exists just so husband can make frothy milk.
2 bread makers - I know! The first one was used when husband got made redundant and had time and inclination. That went into storage when we moved and stayed there for 5 years so I bought another one which has never been used.
Daughter has taken the soup maker and the slow cooker and uses them.
And last and most extravagant is an Ebike. I've wanted one for years and I finally got one at the end of lockdown3. Many reasons why it hasn't worked for me, some medical, some physical and some psychological. My advice to anyone thinking of getting one is to hire one for a week before you buy.

Fluffmum · 12/08/2021 19:36

Smeg kettle far too heavy.

ImFree2doasiwant · 12/08/2021 19:36

@JudgeRindersMinder snap!!
