Raining again - DH has gone to a work event that was scheduled to be outside. He is not back yet, so I assume they had a rain screen.

Gingerwarthog · 09/08/2021 21:34

La Regenta? Yes, I get upset for Madame Bovary - maybe some parallels...

Silkiecats · 09/08/2021 21:43

DH got the 2 Asda orders and Silkiecat is still on the shelf going bruup when anyone walks past, DS gets the loudest ones.

Silkiecats · 09/08/2021 21:45

I am having scones, jam and clotted cream and strawberries. I am also calorie counting after lockdown but am not having a meal. I'm sure this is a very sensible diet.

MissConductUS · 09/08/2021 22:04

We are back with the car and $400 poorer.

The men are making pizza tonight.

Silkie, that diet might be a bit too high in carbohydrates and low in protein.

Silkie So more cream is needed.

Silkiecats · 09/08/2021 22:22

I think that's excellent advice Prok and I will add more cream to make it healthier. And there were at least 5 strawberries in the strawberry jam so my 5 a day is sorted. Plus I am getting in training for our holiday in Devon and Cornwall where you have to eat scones with clotted cream and jam at least once a day so I need to build up to this.

MissConductUS · 09/08/2021 23:16

Silkie, a few slices of streaky bacon would do the trick too.

Squirrel, I've heard that it's quite expensive to own a horse, at least where I live. But it's probably less common here too. Have you had a horse for a long time?

The pizza just went into the oven, which is good as I'm so hungry it's giving me a minor headache.

More tornadoes in the area tonight, but we only got a little rain.

I spent the day tidying, hoovering, and mopping. Yesterday I did six loads of laundry. Every single item of bedding we own is now clean. I had to spin one load three times before putting it in the dryer.

I made a kind of a Tex-Mex lasagna a few days ago which we are still digging our way through. I'm not cooking tomorrow as the heat index will be somewhere between 35 and 37 C.

Silkiecats · 10/08/2021 02:24

Ds would be delighted with bacon MissC I have not been eating meat for past few months but lots of salmon, prawns etc, think veggie DD put a spell on me.

Silkiecat is now at my feet and just booked a swim with seals and visit Lundy boat trip for holidays. We did trip last year and was amazing.

Silkiecats · 10/08/2021 02:25

Sleepy Silkiecat

Gingerwarthog · 10/08/2021 05:56

Beautiful Silkiecat - deserves her own thread as well as shelf.

Silkiecats · 10/08/2021 06:08

Thanks Ginger Silkiecat slept with me the whole night. DD walked past and came to cuddle her. DH has just got up and that caused Silkiecat to have a quivery tail as DH maybe going to the kitchen. Silkiecat's ears are very large atm but she isn't going to waste energy moving from the bed until she is certain DH is by her food.

Squirrel26 · 10/08/2021 07:42

I’m now wondering if a cheese scone with cream cheese and smoked salmon would be nice. I suppose I could always force myself to try it out.

@MissConductUS I’ve only owned him for about 2 years. Before that I had a different horse on loan. It is expensive, but I like to make myself feel better by reminding myself that it’s less than having to send a child to nursery (or university). Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/08/2021 07:51

I like horses (especially coldbloods) when they are behind a fence and I can scratch their foreheads and admire them.

I am trying to find a psychiatrist who specializes in adult ADD. My go to adress would be the Charité but their list is closed at the moment.
Oh the joys to be off work and have free time all to myself!

PhloxOfSheep · 10/08/2021 08:02

I also don't mind horses from a distance. At least one fence between me and them.

We're going to try again with garage door painting as it should stay dry today.

Silkiecats · 10/08/2021 09:16

Smoked salmon and cream cheese goes well with bagels and jacket potatoes but never tried with a cheese scone.

I like horses too though I wouldn't like the running costs though DS requires all animals to be floofy so he prefers alpacas and llamas.

Silkiecats · 10/08/2021 09:17

Just booked parking for the holidays and some clothes for DS and I. DD got me to pay for hers the other day and she ordered some for DS but they are very dubious taste like skulls.

Gingerwarthog · 10/08/2021 09:33

More loads of washing completed (which means loads of ironing to do later today).
Have booked a swimming session for myself and DD this afternoon at the local swimming pool. First time in 18 months.

Silkiecats · 10/08/2021 09:39

Have a nice time swimming. I love swimming but only been twice this year - to lidos on sunny days when I got my vaccines. But when we go on holiday we have swimming pools for 11 nights /13 so hope to do a lot more and hope there's no swimming pool covid rules.

Silkiecats · 10/08/2021 09:40

DD is at the orthodontist then meeting a friend. I am drinking tea. Silkiecat is asleep on the shelf, half on, half leaning over the gap.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/08/2021 13:13

Waiting for DS to come home from school so that we can go and buy a coat for him - with pockets big enough for his kindle, and I need to get his official vacc. booklet extension.

I want a proper shelf, with food and cuddles!

Sunbird24 · 10/08/2021 13:16

I’ve got my 8 week scan in about an hour - do I take my fluffy socks to put on or not? 🤔

Squirrel26 · 10/08/2021 13:19

Er,…yes! Grin

MissConductUS · 10/08/2021 14:13

Good luck, Sunbird, and by all means, wear the socks!
