I went out with a friend for birthday drinks last night, we had our usual at our usual (only involves one glass of Prosecco as we both have to drive) but we talked for 3 hours solid and I feel great this morning! Off for a run before starting DC taxi-ing.

Sounds like a lovely evening and great start to the day. Enjoy your run.

@NotanotherboxofFrogs

Emergency cleans are some of the most efficient cleans!

I hope the visit goes well and you've decided what to rustle up. Are you going buffet style or served on a plate style?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2021 10:03

DH called from Vienna - he works 17h-days but feels good about it, so all great.
I do the usual Saturday cleaning (prevents structural damage to the flat, prevents health hazards and keeps up food hygiene - no scrubbing under the radiators, scraping crannies with toothpicks, or bleaching the inside of toilet bowls).
We have still not heard from our LL about the WC we cannot use.

Gingerwarthog · 11/09/2021 10:19

Feeling crisp and efficient again - 2 days this week , doing well.
Various documents taken to Post Office.
Croissants bought.
DD booked in to local village hairdresser for trim ( it has been 18 months).
Going to village fruit and veg show later today which usually features courgette animals and some incredible flowers. Trust me the dahlias are things of beauty.
DD then meeting friends and I am being strong armed into making them brownies....

There is still left over chocolate cake from yesterday. I told myself firmly that I need to finish housework before I can have it. I am not sure I will listen to me.

Champagneforeveryone · 11/09/2021 11:50

I'm on an overtime shift today to bolster my house move funds. We are going to look at a winter let this afternoon which is owned by a friend, this will give us breathing space till Easter

Silkiescatz · 11/09/2021 11:56

I just said to dh shall we get food for lunch. Silkiecat answered with two loud meows.

That sounds promising Champagne

Dd has gone out for day with friends though has promised she will study at some point. She said her school problem was a joke so one sorted and she was singing away.

Dh has slept until now. Silkiecat is not impressed. If she is awake staff need to be awake.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2021 12:21

Slightly exciting cat news: Floh - the old cat of NDN has allowed my to scratch her head and she no longer leaves the kitchen when I come down to look after them. She stays and walks around near me.

MissConductUS · 11/09/2021 16:01

Happy Caturday, lovely people of the thread.

Good luck with your rental viewing, Champagne.

I woke up early and found a pair of running shoes that I had purchased in 2019 or early 2020 and never taken out of the box due to the problem with my hip. I've worked pretty hard at getting back in shape since the surgery, so this morning I took the shoes out of the box, put them on, and went out for a run/walk. It felt good and I went about three miles, so a bit of a milestone in my recovery. The lack of activity really affected my muscle tone and CV fitness.

I've done some shopping and hosed out the recycling bin as it had gotten quite dirty in the year or so since its last cleaning. I've also been listening to the 9/11 memorial ceremonies on the radio. So much has happened since that morning, so much has changed.

DH has been lying in bed about 20 of the last 24 hours saying he hasn't had enough sleep. He is sleeping more than Silkiecat. Silkiecat complained once then decided sleeping 22 hours a day was an excellent idea with breaks for food.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2021 16:19

Miss Well done on getting back into shape! 3 American miles are about 4,8 km

My bio bin (the small one issued to every household) is waiting for my attention - filled with hot vinegar water.

mathanxiety · 11/09/2021 16:20

A beautiful Saturday morning here. The cloudless blue sky reminds me of the original 9/11 morning. DD4 was three weeks old that day. My mum was scheduled to fly back to Dublin on 9/12 but ended up staying an extra week.

DD3 is heading out to the Farmer's Market. I am staying home to do last night's washing up, make a clafoutis with the last two peaches from a previous raid of the Farmer's Market, and water my deck plants. The angle of the sunlight has changed in the last week or two so I may have to rearrange them a little.

There has been almost no progress on the local roadworks.

mathanxiety · 11/09/2021 16:22

Washing out the bin is an excellent idea, so I'll fit that in today. I discovered two gallons of white vinegar in the cupboard under the china hutch recently, so one of them will be pressed into service.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2021 16:30

math a whole gallon - how big is your bin?

sueelleker · 11/09/2021 17:51

I may be a bit excited; I got some damsons at a nearby farmers market, and plan on making some jam. Damsons are something you hardly ever see for sale normally, and I don't know of any local trees, so it's years since I've seen any. Also, the seller had them in 2 sizes; the normal tiny ones, and some which are about half the size of a standard plum. They should be a lot easier to stone.

HelenaJustina · 11/09/2021 18:37

The birthday celebrations continue, off out to dinner with DH in an hour. It’s at quite a smart gastro-pub so the attire dilemma has begun. I may have a g&t with some of my new gin which will definitely not aid the decision making process.

Squirrel26 · 11/09/2021 19:21

I have washed the sofa cushion covers (thank you, Ikea for removable covers). Now I'm watching a program about deep sea diving.

Silkiescatz · 11/09/2021 19:29

I have had a pina colada with rum, pineapple juice and coconut milk and another one without the rum, together with cheesecake and a peach then another cheesecake.

DH is just off to pick up DD from her party. She has been with friends all day.

Silkiescatz · 11/09/2021 19:32

I have dunelm sofa covers in the living room. We did have leather sofas but rabbit decided the leather was rather tasty. No point buying new sofas with DS and rabbit around so I got some dunelm sofa covers which have been excellent as they apparently don't taste good to rabbits so are still intact and they are soft for DS.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2021 19:35

sue I had to google that "Damaszenerpflaume" or "Zwetschge" you can turn them into lovely kinds of Schnaps; if you feel like it and have a licence Grin DH is from an area where farmes have licences .

Gingerwarthog · 11/09/2021 20:33

Fruit and veg show was great and DD and I and friends spent a happy two hours looking at courgette animals, roses, dahlias and all manner of vegetables including a 2 stone pumpkin.
The flowers, fruit and vegetables were auctioned off at the end (in aid of a children's charity) so we staggered out with bags of potatoes and beetroot and huge bouquets of flowers.
DD won chocolates in the raffle.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2021 21:39

ginger Do you have a picture of a courgette animal? Please?

Gingerwarthog · 11/09/2021 21:56

I will try to work out how to send you one!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2021 22:07

ginger That would be nice - I think they let you upload fotos on to the thread. Unless it is an 'outing' animal?

I let you know, that my bio bin is clean and back in use.
