What's your Freedom Day looking like?

Mine isn't turning out to be very 'free' - trying to work from home again in 30 degree heat with two self-isolating primary age children whose school term finishes next Friday 😩

I will be shopping without a mask but other than that nothing much will change.

JassyRadlett · 18/07/2021 18:04

Not much different from other days. School run, WFH, go to the supermarket to which I’ll wear a mask, same as at drop off and pick up, as cases are high around here and if it makes others more comfortable then fine by me.

The mask-binners are surely going to be pretty annoyed if they’re reimposed in the autumn/winter (as has been suggested) and they have to shell out for new ones?

OrangeBananaFish · 18/07/2021 18:04

Going to work. Not sure if I have to have my temperature checked on the way in or if there's a one way system. Guess I'll find out in the morning. Again not sure if masks are still mandatory in the office, but taking it still.

Going to Asda tomorrow night as usual on a Monday. Again will take the mask and play it by ear. Will see how it looks, if everyone is wearing a mask then I'll join in, but if there are lots without (and no sign of lanyards etc) then I'll stay mask free.

Whoever in the media came up with the fucking term “freedom day” wants shooting. Awful, awful term.

I will be going into town, into the chemist (with a mask) back home on the bus (with a mask,) personally I think that anyone who doesn’t continue to wear a mask is bloody irresponsible and will be partly to blame when the numbers rise even more.

Just because it’s been said you don’t have to, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 18/07/2021 18:10

I was going to visit my Dad in his care home, but there’s been an outbreak this week & Public Health England have closed the home to visitors until the end of the month.

I think I’ll keep wearing my mask, thanks all the same.

bengalcat · 18/07/2021 18:11

Going to work as usual . Mask in my bag as usual .

BusySittingDown · 18/07/2021 18:14

Ooh, I forgot it was freedom day tomorrow!

I'll be doing same as usual, working from home and the DCs are still in school till Tuesday. Although I do need to go to the shop for food and I will do it mask free! Rock and roll!

SRS29 · 18/07/2021 18:16

@TheFluffiestCat

WFH with isolating child. No freedom here
Ditto Sad
Shieldingending · 18/07/2021 18:16

On a UK holiday, we are planning a day out but anticipate wearing masks anywhy that it’s crowded indoors

Shieldingending · 18/07/2021 18:17

Anywhere !!

peaceanddove · 18/07/2021 18:17

Wearing my Ruby Woo lipstick and smiling at everyone 💋💋💋 xxx

Soubriquet · 18/07/2021 18:18

Going to my children’s sports day!

Only one parent allowed per family. So dh is going to sit on the park opposite the school as he will still get a perfect view

GreenesAlibi · 18/07/2021 18:20

Not looking forward to getting on the buses to work and back (two each way) now that there's no masks. There's been no distancing on there for months anyway but no masks will add that extra frisson to my journey to earn minimum wage while all the managers continue to work from home. Fun fun fun.

Crunchymum · 18/07/2021 18:23

Drop the kids, although our school has asked that we keep masks 😷 for the last week of term and possible forever who the fuck knows

Then dropping toddler to nursery. Mask free as the nursery aren't batshit like the school and the appreciate we drop off outside, so I haven't worn a mask there - ever.

Then home to work from my kitchen table.

Then maybe pop to Sainsburys for some bits and I believe Sainsburys are one of the stoelres asking for us to keel masks on? So I guess I'll wear my mask.

Essentially nothing different to my usual working day (swap out Sainsburys for the chemist or the PO or a different shop)

Crunchymum · 18/07/2021 18:24

stores and keep

Pumpkinstace · 18/07/2021 18:27

I'm on holiday. It will be crap from tomorrow as they are going back to full capacity.

The pools and entertainment venues are going back to free for all.

I like it how it is.

SpindleWhorl · 18/07/2021 18:28

Worrying about my CEV mum not feeling safe to leave the house.

Yeah, I'm CEV and won't be going anywhere. I've got a really important CT scan coming up and can't afford to catch a lurgy and miss it.

It all feels weird.

Youdiditanyway · 18/07/2021 18:29

Same as every other day 🤷🏻‍♀️. DC are at school so I’ll be doing the school run, will still wear my mask as usual and be in and out as quickly as I can and that’s about it.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 18/07/2021 18:30

Same thing, work NHS nurse so no change on visiting or masks for us. It is sooo hot in all the PPE. My DS is self isolating until Thursday so misses the last few days/sports day of year 7. I feel gutted for him, can't leave the house and it is roasting.

Confuzzled2020 · 18/07/2021 18:31

DH has (very mild) Covid so self isolating and homeschooling in my week off work. Def not Freedom Day for me.

Holothane · 18/07/2021 18:32

Hiding if weather is so hot.

megletthesecond · 18/07/2021 18:34

Haircut in the garden, supermarket collection, outdoor gym class.
WFH on Tues.

Gertie75 · 18/07/2021 18:37

I'll be working, I'm dreading it because of the heat.
I was looking forward to ditching my mask but ditched it today instead, I was in my local supermarket and felt so stifled with the heat and the mask made it a hundred times worse, I could feel a panic attack coming on so I took it off and don't plan to wear it again.

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/07/2021 18:43

Same as last week and for the past 18 mths, wearing a face mask for work. Not looking forward to doing a night shift in this heat.

RaininSummer · 18/07/2021 18:43

In the office same same as usual but with added frisson of more covid risk with maskless folk on buses and maskless customers.
