I'm actually begging you to help me find a UK holiday!

Please help! After much faffing about and waiting in the hope of going abroad, with changing traffic lights and everything else we've finally given up and accepted there will be no lying by a pool and a UK holiday it is! However, unsurprisingly, there is basically nothing left!

I have been searching for about 4 hours and have pretty much lost all hope, can anybody help?

Requirements are:

  • We're in Cheshire, so up to about 4 hours from here, South Wales/Northumbria/East Anglia, those types of places. NOT Cornwall as we went there in June.
  • Me, DH, DC 10 & 8 + dog although he can be left with relatives
  • Budget up to £1000
  • All things considered, cottage, static caravan, exceptionally nice campsite
  • Things to do, I definitely do not want the only option to be 'a walk,' so not quiet, peaceful, away from it all type

Can anybody find anything, please?!

Particular dates? How long for?

SpaceshiptoMars · 15/07/2021 21:19

Can't help without dates!

Llandysul Paddlers. In mid Wales. They do all sorts of water based activities and have a nice camping site. Nice market town with a variety of eateries locally.
Check them out on trip advisor.

MinnieMountain · 15/07/2021 21:22

Look on the YHA website. You can search by date without specifying a location.

Eleoura · 15/07/2021 21:25

uktrippin · 15/07/2021 21:27

Stirling? Somewhere like that, plenty to do, loads of availability still

MrsMackesy · 15/07/2021 21:29

You've already had a holiday to Cornwall this year in June - and you're begging?! Sorry, our need is greater than yours and so I'm going to steal any good ideas posted! Wink

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2021 21:30

So sorry, of course you can't help without dates!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Last week of August, from about 20th/21st, for about a week, would consider 4/5 nights, up to about £1000

You might be best doing a city break, you're basically looking for something other than the obvious.

There was a thread a few weeks ago about a poster who was holidaying in Bradford due to her DH staying there for work and there was loads of suggestions of things to do.

You could probably find a few days in a premier Inn or similar and then do some days out. I honestly think you could have a great family break in West Yorkshire, there's so much to do.

Or London is quiet this year due to lack of overseas visitors, but could be too far away.

Go north, not south and avoid typical tourist areas. Quick Google found this haven't checked reviews etc but price v reasonable

If you’ve searched for 4 hours, no way We can find anything different.

However - get yourself onto fb group ‘uk holiday rentals’ post your requirements. You’ll get all sorts of offers.

Eleoura · 15/07/2021 21:33

I was going to suggest Norfolk, Suffolk or North Essex.

sorryiasked · 15/07/2021 21:33

shewalkslikerihanna · 15/07/2021 21:33

If you don’t want any one with lots of restrictions look on awakened travel

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2021 21:35

I honestly would just go abroad.
Book with good package firm who will refund or change dates if you can't go for covid reasons but if you are both double jabbed, all you'll need is lat flow test for kids prior to going, and a lay flow and day two pcr test for coming home.
I got mine for £20 via tui.
Just back from amazing week in Greece
All very easy and straight forward

puguin86 · 15/07/2021 21:36

Craig Tara - haven in Ayr south Scotland it's about a 4 hour drive
