I'm actually begging you to help me find a UK holiday!

Please help! After much faffing about and waiting in the hope of going abroad, with changing traffic lights and everything else we've finally given up and accepted there will be no lying by a pool and a UK holiday it is! However, unsurprisingly, there is basically nothing left!

I have been searching for about 4 hours and have pretty much lost all hope, can anybody help?

Requirements are:

  • We're in Cheshire, so up to about 4 hours from here, South Wales/Northumbria/East Anglia, those types of places. NOT Cornwall as we went there in June.
  • Me, DH, DC 10 & 8 + dog although he can be left with relatives
  • Budget up to £1000
  • All things considered, cottage, static caravan, exceptionally nice campsite
  • Things to do, I definitely do not want the only option to be 'a walk,' so not quiet, peaceful, away from it all type

Can anybody find anything, please?!

Take a look at Parkdean, specifically Brynowen Owen in Wales. A quiet site but has entertainment every evening, pool, arcade, 5 mins from beautiful beaches and 8 miles from Aberystwyth.

I booked last year to take my grandchildren at £500 but it’s still showing availability at £800 a week now.

Fingers crossed for you op.

Post on Facebook - dog friendly accommodation uk and ask with your info

Blueskytoday06 · 15/07/2021 21:40

Tbh you'll be lucky to find anything for under a grand.

Ilikeknitting · 15/07/2021 21:41

Sorry, just checked £800 is for a Monday-Friday. Not a full week. Sorry I gave you duff info.

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2021 21:42

Wow you lot are amazing! Loads to look at!

Checked Haven, any of the better sites want about £1200 for 4 nights! Checked Hoseasons, only really ones in odd places for our dates.

The Bay in Filey has space but only for 4 nights, any good?

DH is more 'thrifty' - tight- than me and wants to camp, which I will do, but only at a very lovely site if anybody has any suggestions?

Just checked Hoseasons. They have availability in Northumberland for your dates. Just for 1 example 23rd August, 7 nights at sandy Bay in North Seaton £809

What do you like doing activity wise?

How about this: www.walescottageholidays.co.uk/south-wales/porthcawl-cottages/30271-bwthyn-tyn-cae?adults=4&fromdate=2021-08-21&maximumpets=%3E1&nights=7&sleeps=%3E4&guests=4

I have no connection with this place, I’m just currently sitting in a cottage in North Wales booked through the same website!

lollipopsandrainbows · 15/07/2021 21:57

The bay in Filey is lovely but quite a way out from Filey itself, so you would need to drive everywhere. If I remember correctly it has a pool, gym and pub on site, but no entertainment as such.

4* cottage 5 nights for £580 20 mins to Jedburgh, an hour to Kielder water activities or Alnwick Castle

Filey beach is lovely.

Not looked at availability but some friends of ours have just booked this and it looks fab

In-laws have just come back from Northumberland and loved this place too:

AdoptedBumpkin · 15/07/2021 22:02

You may have thought of this anyway but a campsite near a city you would like to explore might be suitable?

uktrippin · 15/07/2021 22:02

"Tbh you'll be lucky to find anything for under a grand."

Hmm clearly not the case. I'd go to Hull, Stirling or Durham OP. Loads coming up on those dates on hotels . Com at half the price depending on what type of accommodation you want. We like holiday inn express

thirstyformore · 15/07/2021 22:03

I love filey! We live not too far away and have spent a few weekends at the Bay.

dancealittleclosertome · 15/07/2021 22:05

We're going to Filey in August. Great beach I hear, might be able to see puffins at Flamborough Head, possible dolphins and porpoises in Scarborough Bay, amusements in Scarborough South Bay, castles, National Trust wartime radio station....

Use code 15OFF at checkout for 15% off. I've booked with this company before. Have a browse to see a couple of caravan options too.

PeonyTime · 15/07/2021 22:05

I'd be looking at Scotland for those dates - I think the schools will be back by then.
Self catering flat in Glasgow for under 1k for the week on booking.com. Leave doggy at home. Glasgow is ace, and east access to the great outdoors.

Penguin81 · 15/07/2021 22:06

currently on holiday in north wales, and just driven to the west coast..the scenery is absolutely beautiful

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2021 22:07

This is just fab, thank you all, loads I hadn't found in my 4 hour trawl!!

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2021 22:09

I am quite tempted by Filey, and Tenby. Would definitely consider Scotland too, that's a good idea that they're back at school
