I'm actually begging you to help me find a UK holiday!

Please help! After much faffing about and waiting in the hope of going abroad, with changing traffic lights and everything else we've finally given up and accepted there will be no lying by a pool and a UK holiday it is! However, unsurprisingly, there is basically nothing left!

I have been searching for about 4 hours and have pretty much lost all hope, can anybody help?

Requirements are:

  • We're in Cheshire, so up to about 4 hours from here, South Wales/Northumbria/East Anglia, those types of places. NOT Cornwall as we went there in June.
  • Me, DH, DC 10 & 8 + dog although he can be left with relatives
  • Budget up to £1000
  • All things considered, cottage, static caravan, exceptionally nice campsite
  • Things to do, I definitely do not want the only option to be 'a walk,' so not quiet, peaceful, away from it all type

Can anybody find anything, please?!

Whitby isn't the same when it's full though. I wouldn't stay in Whitby this summer.

"Be ashamed."

No. You're being ridiculous. I go on lots of holidays. I also do lots of fundraising for local charities and give regular donations to the food bank.

You be ashamed, trying to guilt strangers online. How very sad.

We have several times. Love it. Just don't go to that bit at the bottom of the abbey steps. It's mad busy down there. The Moors don't get too busy and there's so many places to drive out to nearby that are beautiful.

For those recommending Filey > I stayed on this site fileywhitehouse.com/home.html in a cabin several years ago. Billy Butlin's home is also available to stay in. The site has a direct private path down to the beach. We were having our bathroom ripped out and a new one put in. My husband worked away and I wanted to be elsewhere during this period.

I wasn't at all wanting to do it, but now I look on that period as being one of the best trips of my life (my husband did visit at the weekends Smile). The peace that came over me after a few days, watching the sun come up and go down over the sea, and walking the dogs, and exploring the history of Filey. No good if you want nightlife, etc, but brilliant if you want to reconnect with nature.

From Cheshire I’d recommend getting the ferry from Liverpool to the Isle of Man (£300ish) then enjoy the beautiful island! Amazing Beaches, watersports, lots of stunning walks, lots of nice eateries, if you’re willing to travel then some indoor things too in Douglas / Ramsey. Castles / museums etc too.

Good value accommodation:

@Penguin81 craig Tara got some really bad press in one of the tabloids today
LuluJakey1 · 15/07/2021 23:41

@sorryiasked

Go north, not south and avoid typical tourist areas. Quick Google found this haven't checked reviews etc but price v reasonable
Ireshopeburn is in the Durham Dales/North Pennines. Very very tiny place and rural.
