I'm actually begging you to help me find a UK holiday!

Please help! After much faffing about and waiting in the hope of going abroad, with changing traffic lights and everything else we've finally given up and accepted there will be no lying by a pool and a UK holiday it is! However, unsurprisingly, there is basically nothing left!

I have been searching for about 4 hours and have pretty much lost all hope, can anybody help?

Requirements are:

  • We're in Cheshire, so up to about 4 hours from here, South Wales/Northumbria/East Anglia, those types of places. NOT Cornwall as we went there in June.
  • Me, DH, DC 10 & 8 + dog although he can be left with relatives
  • Budget up to £1000
  • All things considered, cottage, static caravan, exceptionally nice campsite
  • Things to do, I definitely do not want the only option to be 'a walk,' so not quiet, peaceful, away from it all type

Can anybody find anything, please?!

I agree with suggestions of Scarborough.
Also the fylde coast could be good as you have the Beach is St Annes, Pleasure Beach, Waterpark, arcades, Sealife, Waxworks, Blackpool Tower, loads to do for your kids (I would stay in Lytham or St Annes)

I love Filey and you can easily go up to Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. They’re absolutely beautiful places. Nice campsites there too.

I wouldn’t entertain the idea of Hull as a break in all honesty haha!

Maggiesfarm · 15/07/2021 22:45

Try the North Norfolk coast, it's lovely and unspoilt, or most of it anyway.

AvocadoPlant · 15/07/2021 22:45

4 nights at the Ashbury for £1135 but as I say that’s full board and us the Monday-Friday in the last week of August

PurpleHoodie · 15/07/2021 22:45

Really good recommendations.

CeaselessWatcher · 15/07/2021 22:46

If you don’t find anything, I strongly suspect there will be loads of lastminute cottages becoming available as people have to self isolate. One of my friends has a cottage in Cornwall and she has already posted on FB one week where it became available with notice for the next week. I don’t know how you would find that out though, and obv you don’t want to leave it to the lastminute.

CeaselessWatcher · 15/07/2021 22:47

No notice I meant!

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2021 22:49

These are all amazing, you're definitely swaying me towards Filey, Whitby etc. Any specific suggestions for here including camping if you have any would be brilliant, I feel closer than I did!!

Or a lodge at kelling Heath in Norfolk?

Vickim03 · 15/07/2021 22:51

How about Somerset? There’s a lovely sight in cheddar, Bucklegrove

You can camp or rent a static. Lots of things to do locally and a lovely really child friendly pub just down the road tho not in walking distance. Unsure if they have space tho. Your not far to drive to beaches or even go into the city, Bath or Bristol. We’ve stayed there and it’s only 30 mins from us 😂 they have a pub onsite too.

Vickim03 · 15/07/2021 22:54

Second the Manor House! We are going there end if august. Full board so seems pricey but not really when it includes 3 meals a day and they only charge a little for the materials for activities. Plenty on site. It’s not a luxury hotel but the rooms are clean which is all you need. Bit dated.

Butlins

Branleuse · 15/07/2021 22:56

Norfolk?

Cowbells · 15/07/2021 22:56

There are places on here

VorpalSword · 15/07/2021 22:57

You could also look up serviced apartments in a city - bit of a mix of hotel and self catering.

If you are going to do a different holiday you might as well do different!

Found these in Glasgow but they are available in most cities. glasgow.frasershospitality.com/en/accommodation/two-bedroom-apartments.html

We went to North Wales recently, was nice and more budget friendly than Abersock etc. Also there’s still some options in the Lake District, especially around places like Kendal and Kirby Stephen. Consider Airbnb? We’ve just booked a long weekend in LD for £600 which is more than usual granted, but best we could do!

33feethighandrising · 15/07/2021 22:59

If you're up for Scotland how about Edinburgh for the last week of the Edinburgh Festival? Loads to do in the City besides the festival of course. And you can easily get out to the countryside if you want to.

Bonus if your DC are into Harry Potter!

York is really nice, and plenty of hotels or apartments to rent. Look on Booking.com

London is very cheap this year. Might be worth a try?

uktrippin · 15/07/2021 23:11

@beigebrownblue you'd hate me.

I went on holiday in April, may, twice in June June and we're going in July, twice in august, again in October and in December Grin

Whitby is one of my favourite ever holiday places. Go there!
