So I have rescued a kitten

I think it was dumped - it was with another kitten that was dead.

It’s small but it’s eyes are open and it’s able to walk around (quite confidently!) so I think maybe 5 weeks or so?

It’s black.

I’ve fed it mushed up food with kitten milk and it has food and water and a blanket and a cuddly toy in an old dog cage.

Also made up a litter tray from an old baking tray and put litter in it.

I will of course take it to the vet tomorrow but do I need to feed it in the middle of the night?

It’s currently trying to climb up the cage and it’s been playing with a cat toy so I think it’s ok in itself.

Ah how lovely of you. We had 5 kittens dumped outside our house 3 years ago still have 3 of them❤.
Best of luck. Send on a picture please Got to love a kitten pic

Oh the poor thing, it's great that you found it. I would say that you should offer it food during the night just in case.

Are it's eyes blue? If yes, then it's definitely still very young.

WE MUST SEE THE KITTEN!

Oh and word of warning, if the dog cage has bars it might be able to squeeze through them-I had that once with a kitten!

Smallbutnottinykitten · 04/07/2021 21:56

It’s eyes are still very blue

So I have rescued a kitten

@TheOccupier

WE MUST SEE THE KITTEN!

(please)

Definitely. How can we best judge without visual evidence? Grin

Given that you can't be sure of his age, that he was dumped and has yet to be checked by a vet then I would definitely check him during the night to make sure he's alright.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 04/07/2021 21:58

Well obviously it needs to sleep on your pillow (head)..

Smallbutnottinykitten · 04/07/2021 21:58

The cage is in my bedroom. I’m only worried that I’m going to end up with poo on my bed if I keep him/her in with me

It’s wee eyes are clear. There’s no discharge. It pooed and peed all over the cardboard box it was in earlier 😂.

It’s gorgeous. I hope it checks out to be in good health. It’s lucky to have found a loving home.

Smallbutnottinykitten · 04/07/2021 22:11

Well I wasn’t planning on a kitten 😂😂😂😂 but hey ho

I'm not a fan of black cats, they scare me for some reason, grew up in a house full of rescued cats since I was a baby, never a black cat though, maybe that's why?

congrats on your new kitty, have you got a name yet? I suggest frank or bert Grin

Veterinari · 04/07/2021 22:11

Aw well done @Smallbutnottinykitten

I hope you'll keep him/her Smile
Looks reasonably healthy but vet tomorrow for deworming and sexing is a good idea. Feed high quality kitten food frequently.

I'd give a small meal just before you go to bed and another early tomorrow. Feed about 4X day
Make sure kitten can't squeeze between cage bars and get stuck between the bars - can cause nasty injuries.

Smallbutnottinykitten · 04/07/2021 22:13

Thanks @Veterinari I think it’s sleeping with me tonight 😂😂😂

It’s had a bath (it stunk) and yeah deworm deflea and sex tomorrow.

That is one beautiful kitten 🥰😍 and thank you OP for rescuing the poor little thing ❤️

Please check it’s ok during the night, mine was fine (8 weeks, hand reared before I got her) but I still checked. A lot!

And a gratuitous squeeeeeeee because it’s so adorable!!!

bengalcat · 04/07/2021 22:14

What a dear little thing

TaraR2020 · 04/07/2021 22:16

@Smallbutnottinykitten

It’s now asleep on me
Ohhh the sleep of the innocent! Its gorgeous!

I wouldn't have it in bed with you until its been deflead and dewormed. Wrap up a hot water bottle in something fleecy, give it plenty of soft blankets or similar to sleep in overnight and check on him during.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 04/07/2021 22:17
