Posting here for traffic as well as on the money board

I'm in a bit of a bind this month due to some unexpected things- next month is predicted to be much easier. I could do with a couple of hundred of pounds this month to tide me over. I have no relatives or friends who can help and am in the process of joining clickerworker/starting a second job
Please can anyone advise of the best and easiest place to get a payday loan it's been a headache trying to look for one today

I would really advise against a payday loan. Could you use the overdraft facility on your current account? They are much better if you're ever in a tight spot.

WentworthPrison · 28/06/2021 17:34

Anything you could sell on local Facebook groups?

careerchangeperhaps · 28/06/2021 17:41

Please try every other avenue first as payday loans are a slippery slope.
Can you sell your phone and buy a more basic (second-hand) model?
Cancel any subscriptions due imminently (Netflix, Spotify etc)?
Change to a cheaper phone contract.
Return anything you've bought recently but haven't used yet.
Sell stuff on Gumtree / Marketplace
Do a carboot sale

Talk to whoever you owe money to, to see if you can delay some or all of the payments. Rent / mortgage holiday etc.

newnortherner111 · 28/06/2021 17:44

Definitely delay payments if you can before anything else.

Timeforabiscuit · 28/06/2021 17:45

Go through dvd collection, any old games and consoles, jewellery, old phones, even clothing can be sold by the kg.

Frame it as having a clear out.

If it's tide you over- does that leave you short on fun stuff, food or bills?

Earn some extra cash doing surveys

Babymamamama · 28/06/2021 17:47

Don’t take this the wrong way OP but payday loans are a terrible slippery slope. How about asking CAB or GP for food bank vouchers to tide you over. I’ve seen people go really downhill on debt once it starts.

sadperson16 · 28/06/2021 17:48

Foodbanks?

Frenchfancy · 28/06/2021 17:48

If you have any jewellery you could pawn it for a couple of weeks.

LilyMumsnet · 28/06/2021 17:48

Hi OP

Our users, over the years, have offered invaluable advice about financial hardship and we decided to compile this advice and put it into a webguide, so that people experiencing difficulties can find all the relevant information in one place.

You can find our webguide here: www.mumsnet.com/family-money/dealing-with-financial-difficulty

We wish you the very best and would remind folks not to give more, financially or emotionally, than you can afford to spare.

Cleaning, cash in hand?

SallySycamore · 28/06/2021 17:49

For food, do you have points on your Nectar card, Clubcard etc that you could use to pay for most of your shop?

Bananalanacake · 28/06/2021 17:59

Have you got DC. Could you get together their outgrown toys, clothes and sell on Facebook market place.

Imnothereforthedrama · 28/06/2021 18:03

Do not get a payday loan , ask your bank for a overdraft.
Sell something
Pick up some extra work / shifts
Hospitality is needing staff and some places pay weekly/ fortnightly

CherryRipe1 · 28/06/2021 18:04

No lecture but please avoid payday loans. How about a 0% credit card if they exist still or low rate & pay off in full by due date?

dryasaboner · 28/06/2021 18:05

I've got an extra job but doesn't start for a couple of weeks - sold all I can at the beginning of the year. Had a bloody ding in my car which has cost me the excess and I've got ten pounds in my bank until Friday
We have food so it's all good in that way just in case anything crops up in the next few days

I can't get a credit card or overdraft sadly due to past credit issues
Why is it when things are shit they suddenly just get shitter 🤬

LawnFever · 28/06/2021 18:07

Speak to your bank about an overdraft facility, you’ll get a better deal than a payday loan.

LawnFever · 28/06/2021 18:07

Sorry! I was posting at just the same time!

gobbynorthernbird · 28/06/2021 18:07

So you've got a tenner but don't actually know if you'll even need to spend it between now and Friday?

LawnFever · 28/06/2021 18:08

Ok, so you have food, bills are paid and an emergency tenner, in all honesty can you just sit tight until you get paid if nothing else needs paying?
BunnyRuddington · 28/06/2021 18:10

Have you had a look to see if there's a Credit Union near to you. Much cheaper to deal with them.

Crops up like what ? If you have food and get paid on Friday then your ok . I agree £10 in your bank is low but I’ve been there myself last few days before payday had literally zilch left . It’s doable op some have managed on less for longer .
kwiksavenofrillsusername · 28/06/2021 18:24

If you’ve already tried the above and must must have a payday loan, then Drafty is a company I’ve used in the past. The APR is mental though, so make sure you can pay it off in a few days. It really isn’t a great choice and I’d literally do anything else first!

OoglyMoogly · 28/06/2021 18:25

You've got food. Anything else that crops up will have to wait until you can afford it. I've been where you are, payday loans are a slippery slope to financial hell.

Apart from the phenomenal interest you'll pay, you'll also be that much short again next month so don't risk it.
