I’m so shocked by this article!!

Apologises if this has already been posted about.

Does anyone else know anything else about this? I hope her rapist will face justice. Why is it reported she’s a young mum! She’s 11, when she had sex. It’s disgusting. Horrified by this. :(

10* when she had sex I mean. Sad

Just think about my dd becoming pregnant at 10!! It’s horrifying.

The poor love. Bet it will turn out to be a family member. I hope she is believed, gets a lot of help and time to heal and whoever raped her is put away for a very long time.

minipie · 27/06/2021 16:12

I agree this article reports it in a very grim way. Discussion of other youngest ever “mums” and records, as if it was some kind of goal or competition, rather than a series of child rapes.

Poor girls.

Breastfeedingworries · 27/06/2021 16:13

That was my though too, her father/step/brother. I doubt no one knew! I think she’s covering for the person. How awful this is! A crime has taken place. Focusing on the fact there’s a baby doesn’t mean sexual abuse didn’t happen!

She didn't have sex. She was too young to consent. She was raped.

bellsbuss · 27/06/2021 16:15

It's heartbreaking, I felt sick, sad and angry that a poor innocent child has had to go through that.

OverByYer · 27/06/2021 16:15

It’s statutory rape, under 13s cannot consent in law.
I hope they DNA the baby in order to identify her rapist.

PutYourBackIntoit · 27/06/2021 16:17

The reporting of this is horrendous.

FTEngineerM · 27/06/2021 16:17

Oh my gosh a tiny little girls body going through all that at 11! How did the mum not know? Is that even possible to ‘miss’ a pregnancy?!

Comedycook · 27/06/2021 16:18

Horrendous

Nicknacky · 27/06/2021 16:18

@OverByYer We don’t have statutory rape in the UK. It’s rape in this case.

35andThriving · 27/06/2021 16:18

Poor little girl.

This. An 11 year old isn't "Britains youngest mum". She's a victim of a horrific crime, and the baby- although perfectly innocent- is a product of that crime.

This.

Raped and likely frightened and threatened into silence by the scum that did it.

NutterflyEffect · 27/06/2021 16:20

She doesn't really need to be believed. What more evidence can you get other than a baby? We are 100% certain she's been raped

Awful situation, poor poor girl. I find it really hard to believe no one knew

The way the article describes the other girl, who was 12 and had to give up her baby after saying it was her brother who raped her. As if a 12 year old raising a child would have been totally fine if only she wasnt silly enough to admit it was her brother who raped her Angry

TSSDNCOP · 27/06/2021 16:23

It feels very wrong to call this child a mum. She is a child who was clearly raped. The entire experience must have been horrific for her. Where the hell are the adults in her life that 30 weeks of pregnancy on a 10 year olds frame could be unnoticed?

If she's been at school, I hope they are asked questions as well. Adults in her life should have noticed.
RandomMess · 27/06/2021 16:26

Utterly heartbreaking

I know! It’s bullshit no one knew! The man/child/teenager who raped her knows what he did! Her family are irresponsible and shouldn’t of been looking after! They aren’t fit!

This poor child is still at primary school. She should be looking forward to moving up to secondary school and making new friends and finding new interests. She has been robbed of all this by the criminal who put her in this position. As everyone else has said, she is not a mum, she is a little girl who has been failed by everyone who should have been looking after her.

Ozanj · 27/06/2021 16:56

It certainly is possible nobody knew. Girls that young (especially if underweight) don’t show. Many don’t even have periods / regular periods so they don’t realise they’ve missed one. One of my grandmothers got pregnant at 11 like that. She was always hypervigilant around pregnancy signs for my mum and aunts as she always considered what happened to her a ‘genetic thing’ rather than something because of her age.

thecatsthecats · 27/06/2021 17:11

Obviously there is someone to blame here, but I think it could be possible to miss this for a couple of reasons.

One being that her parents might have had no reason to expect that she had her periods yet, so nothing to miss. The other being that she may already have been overweight.

Additionally, a child being pregnant may not "present" a very normal pregnancy anyway - possibly a small child.

Which is not intended to defend any negligence in any way, but there's no point in a witch hunt on such scant facts when the family may well be innocent.

MondayYogurt · 27/06/2021 17:13

@Ozanj I'm sorry your grandmother was also raped at 11.

Isidore · 27/06/2021 17:32

What happens if the dad is also her age, as wouldn't they both be too young to consent / understand? The might have both decided to do it and neither can legally consent. What would happen in cases like that?

Jabba2020 · 27/06/2021 17:38

The other young girl they mentioned had her child forcibly removed from her after they discovered her brother was the father. Imagine being raped, having it spread all over the news then after 2 years of being a mum your baby is removed. I hope whatever has happened in this case that lessons have been learned.
