The power of McDonald's is slowly working.

I am garnering my energy to make a trip to the supermarket and to walk the dogs. Don't want to be too hasty though Wink

Sunbird24 · 03/07/2021 16:39

@Prokupatuscrakedatus my (relatively new so rather small) hydrangea got accidentally strimmed when the grass in the front garden got cut. I’ve replaced it with a daphne

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/07/2021 16:40

Frownette I didn't either. Has to do with our extremely hard water. Very healthy to drink, but hydrangeas do not like it and it affects them in time. I need to properly treat her (she's called Hortensie) after the flowering season. I have been given instructions.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 03/07/2021 16:53

Good morning - at least, I think it's morning, but my Mac has stopped showing the time.

I'm booking hotels to drop DD2 off at university late August. DH is simultaneously booking flights, hotels and a car to move DD1 into her university late August.

Have a lovely day MissConductUS. I bet it'll be nice to see your daughter.

Frownette · 03/07/2021 18:57

So it's daughter day for @ZZTopGuitarSolo and @MissConductUS Grin

I'm pleased that I've started eating again, only strawberries and yogurt, and sushi, but it's a start.

HelenaJustina · 03/07/2021 19:09

@Champagneforeveryone you can’t rush recovery...

mathanxiety · 03/07/2021 19:40

DD4 made us a cake late on Thursday and we have been soldiering our way through it ever since. DD3 had a slice for breakfast this morning. She may well earn some sort of medal for dedication to duty.

Hope you'll have a very pleasant trip to see DD, MissConduct.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/07/2021 19:42

@Sunbird24 - Daphne (Seidelbast) look lovely and does not mind chalky soil. I'll have a look at them. That's Hortensie - you can see that's she's becoming unwell by the light coloured leaves.

@Frownette - aren't you supposed to stick to vanilla icecream or is that no longer recommended?

Err yes Prok I'm breaking the rules Blush Although thinking about it sushi is mainly white rice, on the approved list.

Though I may go down to the supermarket and get some sorbet.

Hortensia is beautiful Flowers

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/07/2021 20:02

Frownette Hortensia says thank you - I hope I can safe her.
If you are looking at sushi from that angle you are right, of course. i was thinking of soy and wasabi.

Sunbird24 · 03/07/2021 20:53

This is baby Daphne. Hopefully she will eventually be as pretty as Hortensia!

sunbird Hello Daphne!

Squirrel26 · 03/07/2021 21:10

The dog is lying on my phone and the TV remote.
Not sure if he's making a statement about wanting me to pay more attention to him and less to my various screens.

Frownette · 03/07/2021 23:45

Look forward to seeing Daphne in bloom Sunbird24 :)

Yes Squirrel26 that was a very pointed statement

MissConductUS · 03/07/2021 23:59

We just got home. We had a lovely visit with DD. There was less rain but more traffic than we were expecting. It's a very scenic drive with lots of farms and quaint villages.

We had a very nice meal out, took DD to a posh farmers market to buy her some goodies, had a tour of her university, then came home.

I drove both ways. It was about five hours in the car, so I'm knackered. It is nice to be home.

Ah I wondered when you'd get back! You can flop out a bit now :)

Gingernaut · 04/07/2021 00:08

I used a drill.

I put up three novelty metal signs (with rawlplugs, screws and plastic screw covers and everything) and a metal bar, so they could be used as magnetic boards.

I brought the step ladder upstairs and fixed the bedroom curtain rail (grub screw came loose) and now the ladder is up here, I'll set about the flickering spot light later on.

MissConductUS · 04/07/2021 01:42

Welcome, @Gingernaut, and thanks for your DIY news. Are you always this handy and did the novelty signs say something funny?

It is 8:38 here - I massively overslept!

Frownette · 04/07/2021 07:41

Well, it's Sunday!

Sunbird24 · 04/07/2021 07:51

I sent a work email at 4.40. I was awake anyway, so I thought I’d do it while I had the details in my mind

Gingernaut · 04/07/2021 09:20

They're only small.

These little jobs have been waiting to be done for months

I can be quite 'handy', but I'm a terrible procrastinator.

Champagneforeveryone · 04/07/2021 10:04

ChampagneCat is dicking about by the cat flap, unsure whether she wants to be in or out. Ultimately deciding she wants to be where she's not.

Our lovely neighbour has his family down so there's much wailing of babies and slamming of doors. Normally in the world of MN this would be annoying, however lovely neighbour is so lovely that we overlook such matters.

We are meeting friends with their two young boys for a drink later, the youngest is actually our godson. I will pop to Waitrose to buy some treats for them while DH is at church. It's forecast to rain all day too Hmm

Popcornbetty · 04/07/2021 11:53

@MissConductUS just catching up on the last couple of pages. Thank you so much for the offer, they sound decandent and like those brownies that are almost like fudge, yummy! My recipe is a one pan cocoa one that is a melting butter/sugar one too and is versatile so i sometimes swirl nutella, caramel or biscoff in and throw chopped chocolate in for good measure! My secret ingredient is coffee which really intensifies the chocolate flavour. It is a fudgy chewy brownie with a crackle top. I literally trialled so many over the years and finally found my go to last year which isnt 'cakey' and has our favourite brownie texture.
I have recently written all my go to recipes down and want to bind them into a book one day (when time, probably when dc abit older) because I'm abit old fashioned (or so dh tells me when he asks why i can't just use phone/ipad!) Shock
Hope you had a lovely journey visiting your dd, it sounds so picturesque and quaint with the farmers market (bet it had some fantastic produce) and village etc right out of a story book!
