Getting a tattoo is not dull or unexciting...
Do tell !!

Silkiecats · 29/07/2021 22:32

I just had a scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream with a cup of tea.

MissConductUS · 30/07/2021 01:31

Welcome, @dementedma, and thanks for sharing your body art news.

The appointment at the periodontist was just for the three dimensional x ray scan to verify that the bone graft worked properly. It did, and even better news, he is not going to charge me for the new implant. I will have to pay my other dentist to do the custom abutment and crown.

DH has given DS a large amount of cash so that he and his mates can go out somewhere posh for dinner in Boston this weekend. That was a nice thing to do.

In solidarity with mathanxiety and her poor timekeeping, I was late for work today Blush

I was utterly convinced it was Friday and I did not start work till 5pm. It was only when my phone rang at 3.45pm I had a glimmer of self doubt Hmm

MissConductUS · 30/07/2021 01:41

champagne, why are you up? Isn't it 1:30 AM for you now?

Champagneforeveryone · 30/07/2021 01:44

MissConductUS · 30/07/2021 02:05

Good morning, sunny and windy day, not too hot.

DH and I are writing a 'notice of defects' to our LL. Some things just decay with time.
After that I will go to work for a couple of hours.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 30/07/2021 07:34

Morning all, lovely morning here. I have friend staying and I may still be a bit drunk after a long night chatting, I drank almost a 70cl bottle of Bailey's on my own, friend drank 3 large bottles of various alcopops but lots of laughs have been had. Am waiting for Asda delivery this morning, then going to make a large fry up. I'm a happy drunk but I don't drink very often,

dementedma · 30/07/2021 07:58

Re tattoo. I got a tiny spray of Lily of the Valley in memory of my dear friend Babeth who died of cancer in May. They were her favourite flower.

Silkiecats · 30/07/2021 07:59

DH has a day off, he decided yesterday and picked today which has a weather forecast of thunder and rain. Silkiecat has made sure he doesn't get a lie in and just woke him up, he's not allowed cat days off.

IWanderedLonely · 30/07/2021 08:08

I will also be late for work if I don't get my arse of the setteestop reading mumsnet

IWanderedLonely · 30/07/2021 08:09

Strikeout fail again

HelenaJustina · 30/07/2021 09:20

@namcybotwinbloom that is seriously impressive!
The DC are campaigning for shopping today, they have identified some gaps in their wardrobes. And as it is going to be rainy and cool, I’m not totally averse to the idea. But I will need to get out of bed for it to happen!

Gingerwarthog · 30/07/2021 09:27

That is a beautiful idea DementedMa.

Gingerwarthog · 30/07/2021 09:29

Beach paddle.
Full English.
Going to beach shop to buy sandcastle flags and buckets and spades.
Kids are singing 'Old Macdonald had a farm' which will drive us mad in an hour but is sweet at the moment....

Champagneforeveryone · 30/07/2021 10:14

I have my Covid jab at 12.55, DS has offered to drive me there and is quite sweetly thrilled to be able to do so. He won't be able to park when he gets there which takes the gloss off of it slightly, but all in good time Grin

I'm feeling rather flat. Tonight is my last night before I go off on AL, we should be flying off on our holiday of a lifetime tomorrow- predictably we are not. I've also foolishly googled the forecast for our UK holiday next week which has not helped my mood.

Gingerwarthog · 30/07/2021 10:49

Hi Champagne.
You'll still have a great time.
We have whacked on the thermals, drinking hot choc.
Kids now singing something about Aardvarks...

Champagneforeveryone · 30/07/2021 12:07

Thanks ginger, I'm sure we will just not as much of a great time!

We are however somewhat weather dependent, and the prospect of a week spent clad in waterproofs with a mutinous teen and two wet dogs (not to mention DH) is not one that fills me with unbridled joy.

MissConductUS · 30/07/2021 15:09

Champagne, I hope your jab went well. Was this your first or your second? Re the holiday, the weather forecast can change quite a bit between now and next week.

DS departed for his weekend away very early this morning. I was up and loaned him a portable charger for his phone, as he is really bad about keeping it charged, so it needs to be as easy as possible. A minute after he left I noticed that he had left his AirPods in the kitchen, so I texted him and he came back for them. It's going to be a bit odd not having him in the house for weekend. I hope DH can make a proper pizza without him tonight. Smile

Oh @Champagneforeveryone the forecast is definitely variable for next week, and it can be exhausting having to be ‘jolly’ and keep everyone else happy for a week! Can you do some research this evening and look at some indoor options? Is there a film you’d all like to see? Bus tour of a nearby city?

Silkiecats · 30/07/2021 16:19

Sorry you can't go on your overseas holiday Champagne We are missing them so much as well and thought they would be back once double jabbed but no. Last year we got lucky with the UK weather and had about 25C everyday apart from 3 days of rain but that was fine and just went to indoor swimming pool then after we got home it seemed to rain every day. This year we couldn't book those weeks due to isolations and I'm not hopeful for the weather though we have a pool 10 days at least.

I would try and research indoor things or outdoor things were you won't end up cold and wet - we do indoor swimming pools, esp ones with slides and wave machines, trampoline parks, drive through safari parks, steam trains, inside NT places (though DC have put a ban on that one saying its a geriatric activity). Hope you get to have a nice holiday anyway and hopefully can do the lifetime one before too long.

Nydj · 30/07/2021 16:22

@IWanderedLonely

Strikeout fail again
@IWanderedLonely, this affliction has affected a lot of people on these threads after I mentioned that I couldn’t do strikeouts on mumsnet but now I can - sorry! not sorry
Nydj · 30/07/2021 16:25

I played roulette with the washing and weather today - hung the washing out to dry as it was breezy but had to get it in before it rained again. I called it a win as they were almost dry when I chickened and got them in after less than an hour.

What has happened to my life that this was the most exciting part of my day, if not week?

Silkiecats · 30/07/2021 18:04

I have been so drowsy past couple of days and can hardly stay awake. Was racking my brain well small part of it still operating as to why then realised I started having blocked ears and ear pain from hayfever so I took non-drowsy anti-histamines which have a warning may cause drowsiness. So I have solved my ears but now can't stay awake Hmm
