Math, ESPN has better coverage of the Olympics. I haven't been watching much as I'm really not much of a sports fan.

My dentists (yes, I have two) like me because I'm easy to work on and can skip the novocaine for a lot of procedures, which makes their job easier.

DS leaves early Friday with two of his mates for a long-planned jaunt to Boston for the weekend. They have nice hotel rooms booked and a list of things to do. It will be odd to just have DH and I in the house for three days. I guess it'll be a small taste of the empty nest we'll experience when he goes back in August.

Have a lovely holiday Warthog

I have received a message that the books I ordered for DD and DS will be delivered tomorrow between 11.57am and 3.57pm * exact time cannot be guaranteed. I will try and let you know the exact time unless its too exciting a time.

Gingerwarthog · 29/07/2021 07:13

Dd tried the new tumble drier. She said there was a large choice of programmes named things like cotton but her load was random mixed things so she said she just choose cotton.

HelenaJustina · 29/07/2021 07:32

@Silkiecats she is leaving life on the edge!

I got 5 loads of laundry done yesterday despite the showers, cleaned the bathrooms, cooked a lentil bolognese, cleaned 2/3 of the beach out of the car, hand rinsed the swimming costumes, goggles and wetsuits... extremely productive but extremely dull.

Off to work today, hence the early holiday start.

Squirrel26 · 29/07/2021 11:42

I found the skateboarding hard to watch because they weren’t wearing any safety equipment other than a helmet. And they kept falling! On concrete! They weren’t even wearing long sleeves. Shock

Gingerwarthog · 29/07/2021 15:21

Thank you Silkie.
Bought fudge.
Ate fudge.
Paddled.

Silkiecats · 29/07/2021 15:32

Paddling is good Warthog I would paddle all day everyday if I could.

Helena DD is continuing to live life on the edge and has just told me she is going to add more soya sauce to her pot noodle.

DD has the UKMT Maths summer school next week and has said she can't print out the documents as she would have to set up the new printer I bought her and she said that is too difficult for her.

DH's work has sent a security alert to say there is a porcupine on the loose there - DH think it has escaped a local zoo.

One of the silkies has gone broody, we just have two girls but often they insist on trying to hatch the eggs trying to get baby silkies. So one sits on both of their eggs. Its the brown one and she's asleep on the eggs.

Silkiecats · 29/07/2021 15:32

That's an impressive amount to get done Helena Hope you get a rest at some point.

HelenaJustina · 29/07/2021 16:22

A porcupine is an under-used word by my vocabulary, how exciting!

MissConductUS · 29/07/2021 16:38

We have porcupines in New York, but rarely see them as they are nocturnal. DS mowed the lawn yesterday as we are forecast to have heavy thunderstorms later today and he's going to be away for the weekend.

Helena, your workload yesterday is truly impressive.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 29/07/2021 17:21

We have porcupines too - I live in fear of the dog discovering one and getting quilled.

I went to the dump (sorry... transfer station) this morning. In my head today is Friday, and the transfer station opens at 8.30am on Friday, so I arrived at 9.45am.

Of course it opens at 10am on a Thursday.

I joined a queue of about 20 other cars who'd made the same mistake.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/07/2021 18:04

Porcupines - we do not have (Stachelschweine) but washbears have made a home in this area.

I am happy to tell you that the molars can be saved and the roots are OK for now.

Silkiecats · 29/07/2021 19:07

Glad it went well at the dentist Prok We call washbears raccoons here, don't get them here but we had a family of raccoons with babies visit us at the restaurant each night when we stayed in Costa Rica. DS was in love.

MissConductUS · 29/07/2021 19:34

I've been checking the Ring cameras in the morning to see if a stray cat that visits occasionally has been back. This morning I saw two raccoons come down the steps from the front garden to the driveway then wander off together.

We have lots of raccoons here but I've never seen two together before.

The thunderstorms are almost upon us and I have a 40-minute drive to the periodontist to start in about an hour. I hope the roads don't flood.

I sat in the garden this afternoon - it was a bit cool so I did some weeding and watering instead - only watered the plants that were in the shade.

HelenaJustina · 29/07/2021 20:01

Thank you Miss and somebody else who commented positively on my productivity yesterday. I was reasonably satisfied with myself.

Went to work in good time for an 8.30am meeting which didn’t end up starting until 9.10am and thought I’d be gone by 10.30am. I actually got home at 2.30pm. Another day of the ‘holidays’ chalked up to work. But don’t need to be back in until Monday. Have had a g&cloudy lemonade which is a departure from usual tonic but welcome all the same...

HelenaJustina · 29/07/2021 20:04

DH wishes I had made his dinner before the g&cloudy lemonade... ho hum.

namcybotwinbloom · 29/07/2021 20:13

Today I have batch cooked and I have made

8 portions of lasagna
6 portions of cottage pie
6 portions of lamb, rosemary & red wine
8 portions of chilli con carne

All with plenty of veg and all actually nice.
I am ridiculously proud of myself.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/07/2021 20:22

namvy That is really something to be proud off!

Do not forget to put labels on - DM often defrosted "oh, I thought it would be"-meals. Smile

namcybotwinbloom · 29/07/2021 20:26

My DH came in and saw the cottage pie next to the lasagne and asked why I have made two lasagna.

It's root veg mash on top to get extra veg in!

I've put green beans with the cottage pie and green beans with the cottage pie so I can tell the difference Grin

namcybotwinbloom · 29/07/2021 20:26

Peas with the lasagne I mean

dementedma · 29/07/2021 20:45

Today I got my first tattoo. I am 57

namcybotwinbloom · 29/07/2021 20:47

What did you get!
