Still on the fascinating subject of fly spray, (I've been doing something else in the meantime, honest) I've just found some which is 'unisex'. Again, not a thing I was aware I should be worried about.

Silkiecats · 27/07/2021 20:47

I have killed another fly and currently there are no flies here. Though it fell off and is now somewhere in the fluffy rug, yuck.

Silkiecats · 27/07/2021 20:50

I switched about a week ago from fly spray to flash with bleach as the fly spray was killing me but very low success rate on flies. The flash with bleach is also killing me but slower and has a very high success rate plus it cleans the flies.

Silkiecats · 27/07/2021 20:51

Am getting a vegetable chow mein. I went off meat a lot about 2 months ago.

namcybotwinbloom · 27/07/2021 20:53

I signed up to a boxing gym! For fitness for a six week course with ten other ladies who I can't wait to meet. So excited!

Silkiecats · 27/07/2021 20:55

I can also recommend the red top fly trap. However, it is a bit sexist saying 85% of the flies caught are female.

Squirrel26 · 27/07/2021 21:26

Maybe that's why it's important to know if the fly spray is unisex or not.

Silkiecats · 27/07/2021 23:30

I think so and maybe that's the difference between amateurs and professionals. Professionals analyse all the dead flies and log them by sex, time and date. An amateur wouldn't even know a male from a female fly. Shock

MissConductUS · 28/07/2021 01:24

Welcome, @namcybotwinbloom, and thanks for sharing your pugilistic news. Please let us know how it goes, unless it turns out to be exciting of course.

I’ve got a long dull day of tired DC, much laundry and bathroom cleaning ahead of me. But after tha mayhem and excitement of the last few days, this calm may be a welcome relief depends if I’m driven bonkers by DC claiming to be bored

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/07/2021 16:03

Guess who has got 2 dental appointments tomorrow - they are thinking about rescuing 2 upper molars.
And I will have to go in to work on Friday (my day off).

Champagneforeveryone · 28/07/2021 17:02

Argh prok Sad I had a couple of shocking experiences with dentists after a childhood of dental neglect thanks mum but have recently found a private dentist who was lovely and so he should be for the money

That's the downside to holidays isn't it helena?! We're off on the 6th and I'm so out of practice I don't seem to be prepared at all. We have to take our own bedding and towels and that, coupled with all the guff that the dogs need, as well as our stuff, food etc is mind blowing.

DH is staying on a couple of days to see family, so the laundry and unpacking falls unreservedly to me Hmm

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 28/07/2021 17:06

Good luck all Prokupatuscrakedatus - what do they need to do to rescue the molars?

My teeth are squeaky clean after a hygienist cleaning on Monday.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/07/2021 17:18

Champagne and ZZTop - Those molars have complicated roots and they have involved a specialist to see if they can avoid extraction DM had a crippling fear of dentists, too, and I am still trying to sort this out.

There is a piece of apple cake waitign for me.

MissConductUS · 28/07/2021 18:08

I have an appointment with the periodontist tomorrow. My bone graft is now healed and they are ready to start the process of replacing the implant I broke back in March. I'm sure they're still talking about my unique, nay Olympic talent for dental destruction.

Perhaps I'll ask the periodontist to name his new Tesla after me. Smile

Miss Smile

My terasse / balcony is visited by small birds collecting borage (Borretsch) seeds, morose pigeon comes regularly to munch on leaves and have a drink of water and - thankfully - we have lots of wasps, bees and bumble bees (Hummeln).

Sunbird24 · 28/07/2021 19:42

Oh I dislike dentists! Except one many years back who must have just been standing in for someone for a little while - he looked like Orlando Bloom but had a dreamy Scottish accent!

It’s currently 24.2 degrees in my room, my medication has to be kept below 25…

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/07/2021 19:48

Sunbird Vegetable section of the fridge or a moist terracotta flower pot (butter storage) with a wet cloth around it positioned in a daught - should keep meds cool if there is no other way.

Our medicine storage has a summer and a winter place, keeping DH in a state of disorientation.

Squirrel26 · 28/07/2021 19:50

Perhaps he could reflect your contribution with an appropriate personalised number plate license plate, @MissConductUS. Grin

My mum religiously took us to the dentist every six months, but I have rubbish teeth with defective enamel.

Silkiecats · 28/07/2021 19:50

When we first moved here the dentist only had 3 slots available so I very generously gave them to DH, DD and DS and said it was fine I would phone back another time. That was 2 years ago. Blush

LOL I swear my dentist is only 25 yet he has a boat, lovely car, discusses his investment plans with me...
mathanxiety · 28/07/2021 21:02

@HildaTablet, I watched the skateboarding too Grin
Baffling.
I've been enjoying the limited and poor quality NBC coverage of the Olympics. The women's gymnastics event was almost completely dominated by coverage of Simone Biles. At the end of the evening they didn't show any medal ceremony, just a shot of the US team with their silver medals, and mentioned in passing that GB had won bronze - they had not shown any routines of any other athletes and limited routines of the (imo superb) Russians, so I had no idea team GB was even in the running. I could probably see better coverage of the sports if I shelled out for some paid channel.

I have started thinking it's time I pulled out the mini stairclimber I shoved into a closet last year, and began to get myself back into some shape other than 'sack of potatoes'.

I tried to talk DS into doing dentistry a few years ago. He laughed really hard. Took DD4 to the dentist today for a thorough cleaning and repair of a composite patch on a front tooth which she originally had done a few years ago. She needs to go back next Wednesday for a filling. I managed to find a shady spot to park on the street outside the dental practice. The heat index is about 100F today, so the shade was a good idea.

We are expecting a derecho to roar through tonight so I'm going to put all my deck plants in by the wall and find ballast for some empty plastic pots currently on my potting bench. I'll also fold up the sun lounger and tuck it away somewhere. I was going to put out my hummingbird feeder today, but it will now have to wait until tomorrow evening.

Silkiecats · 28/07/2021 21:11

I'm watching Olympics on DiscoveryPlus and coverage is very good though gymnastics was a bit obsessed with Simone Biles. I felt a bit sorry for the girl who replaced her when they were saying she had replaced Simone and this was a disaster and they still won silver.

My DS loves dentists mainly due to the chairs that go up and down and dentists are always very happy to see him as I think its rare they have patients who actually like them. Good thing for us as well is he takes the dentist word like gospel.

Just had pork and apple burger in a bun with apple sauce and pickled onions and a coke. I also managed to eat a flat peach before DS got to it. DH got 4 at lunch and DS ate all the first 4 so DH got 4 more and I got one quickly.

DD said she managed to get 3 words out of DS. All to do with maths but she was very proud.

Gingerwarthog · 28/07/2021 21:20

Day one of beach holiday with DD and friends.
Drove up the coast through a selection of pretty seaside villages.
Ate cheesy chips.
Bought a beach tennis set.
Now reading new John Grisham, 'Camino Winds'.
