My laptop I bought new in May is starting to get black lines appear and stupidly I appear to have deleted my receipt. The company I bought if from are normally good though.

I have had 3 pancakes with nutella and strawberries for brunch.

Sunbird Sorry to hear about the bouncy castle all day noise. I do love bouncy castles so my solution would be to hire my own and join them.

I remember going to a hotel in Austria with bouncy castles and I was on them with DS and this 4 year old German boy came up to me and told me I was his new best friend.

MissConductUS · 24/07/2021 15:11

DS got up early this morning (for him) and went rowing. He is coaching a youth group at our local rowing club. It's the same club he rowed for during high school.

DH and DS are going to get haircuts shortly. I find them going together adorable for some reason.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Now strawberries, I can do. I had lots this year. Blueberries are another matter. My sister is the other way around. I'd like to grow raspberries too, but don't have the room.

@highheeledhattie I am also impressed by the white trouser wearing. I've got my favourite T-shirt on today. That means I'm guaranteed to spill something down myself.

@Champagneforeveryone I was quite grumpy this morning because I had an awful night's sleep and several bad dreams. I'm less grumpy now though because we've ticked a couple of tiresome jobs off the to do list.

HildaTablet · 24/07/2021 15:49

I've made some bread and watched a fair bit of the Olympics.

I also nerved myself to try and solve the printer issues which have resulted in all my recent documents printing out with wavy, jiggly lines (and I need to send a tax statement to my accountant).

Print-head alignment, deep nozzle cleaning and an ink cartridge change seem to have cured the problem, and I now feel entitled to claim I win the thread for most boring post 💤💤🥇

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/07/2021 16:10

Phlox I would probably help if I had a garden and went about strawberries properly - ours was more accidental. Smile
Blackberries just grow everywhere.
But tomatoes and chilis loook good this year.

Hilda Printers have mean and stubborn characters and delight in tormeting people - mine is currently telling me it is out of paper - no it is not!

Champagneforeveryone · 24/07/2021 18:19

Bravo Hilda Flowers

We have given up with printers as I've discovered somewhere locally that will print your documents for you. No longer under the tyranny of the bastard printer, I am free!

In ironing news, DH is still tired and opted to not fix the cigarette lighter in DS's car after a bit. I am now ironing (so I have something to wear) while DH cleans the bathroom and ChampagneCat's litter tray. I intend to stop shortly, probably under the guise of "being tired"

Silkiecats · 24/07/2021 19:21

Well done Hilda Do you also fix computer screens? I have more black lines appearing and its not looking hopeful.

DH had been invited to meet at the funfair with DS and I today to meet another family with an ASD boy but the forecast was thunder and heavy rain. This did not go that well as DS was too scared to go, I fell asleep Blush and DH didn't want to wake me so DH went alone. The other boy was also scared of the funfair though at least the heavy rain and thunder hasn't appeared yet as a lot of the village is already under water. Still at least DH met them and we have their details.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/07/2021 20:09

I am looking for chocolate. I hope DD has some.

mathanxiety · 24/07/2021 23:26

We have just had a cloudburst after a sweltering day with high humidity and dew point, and temps around ninety nine and a half.

I stopped at the Farmers' Market on my way home from dropping DD4 off at her Saturday job and bought two pains au chocolat from a stand, plus a bag of three of the locally famous Farmers' Market cinnamon doughnuts. When I came home I discovered that one of the pains au chocolat was in fact a pain au ham and cheese but I ate it anyway; it was really good and probably much better for me than the chocolate one, which DD3 had. Next week I'll check what the teenager at the bakery stand is putting in my bag all the same.

Anyway, after watching the Olympics for a while I decided to tackle my hair, which had appalling roots, and just as my timer dinged to start rinsing all the colour out, DD4 phoned to ask for a lift home, well before 3pm which was the time she told me she would be out. Apparently it was so hot the shop she works in had almost no customers and the owner took pity on her and sent her home. So she had to walk, but she appreciated the doughnuts. Also, my hair is looking nicer now.

While I was sitting waiting for the timer to ding I cleaned the bath tub and half of the bathroom floor.

Silkiecats · 24/07/2021 23:42

The senco told me she loved my haircut which made me laugh as I cut it myself. 🤣

Silkiecat wants to sunbathe outside, it's pitch dark and cool out but Silkiecat thinks if she complains to dh enough he can fix that. Could be a long night

HelenaJustina · 25/07/2021 08:05

DH has already left the house to help put up the village marquee (it’s for the memorial service of one of our neighbours) so I need to get 4DC and me to Mass on time. I may need a cattle prod...

PhloxOfSheep · 25/07/2021 08:58

Prok I like the idea of an accidental strawberry. It sounds pleasing somehow.

My printer likes to insist we're using unbranded cartridges. We're not.

I'm still in bed. I don't want to get up because then I have to weed the vegetable bed.

Squirrel26 · 25/07/2021 09:54

I tried to grow strawberries last year. They died, even though the garden centre promised it was an extremely easy to grow variety.

Not that I’m still upset about it or anything.

Silkiecats · 25/07/2021 11:24

Silkiecat is by our open back door, she is alternating between sitting inside by it howling for DH to open the already open door or 1 metre outside howling for DH to open the open door.

Silkiecats · 25/07/2021 11:26

We now have the bedside tables and a teal supersoft throw for DS who loves everything supersoft.

Getting the new tumble drier today, old one being collected by council 6am on Wednesday for £25.

MissConductUS · 25/07/2021 13:22

I just noticed that the thread has hit 666 posts. Since it's Sunday and that number has satanic connotations, I've decided to post before going to church.

We did not watch the Olympics last night. There was a baseball game on between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. This is an epic rivalry, and with DS going to uni in Boston and then locating there next year, we felt we had to watch. Fortunately, the Yankees won.

The dog that was lost in the area remains unfound as far as I know.

It's been a while since I've posted a picture of the garden on the deck, so here you go. The big plants on the right are tomatoes. It will be another few weeks before I get anything edible from them.

Does she have dementia, or was she just dropped on her head as a kittenGrin
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/07/2021 13:47

Lovely garden Miss - we ate our first 'own' tomatoes yesterday. They were lovely!

I am watching the olympics with one eye while waiting for DH to finish cooking.

Silkiecats · 25/07/2021 13:50

Sue I think its either dementia or she is letting DH know that just leaving the door open is not an acceptable standard of service from her chosen servant who should be very grateful he has been chosen. DH has gone out now and since he's been out she has stopped it so looks like its the latter.

Watching more Olympics

HildaTablet · 25/07/2021 14:29

Your deck's looking lovely, MissC

My tomatoes are doing surprisingly well given that I haven't fretted over them this year as I normally do...my mind has just been totally elsewhere and I've gone through the process on autopilot really. It was a shock when I suddenly noticed a couple of weeks ago that the fruit was developing, it won't be long before they start to ripen now.

I can't tear myself away from the Olympics. Insomnia struck last night and I ended up watching skateboarding at 2am. I have no idea what the commentators were talking about, it was hilarious.

Gymnastics is on now. Simone Biles - incredible.

Silkiecats · 25/07/2021 14:31

I love gymnastics its my favourite sport to watch.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/07/2021 14:59

I can still remember when gymnastics was done by adult women and then by tiny thin girls, now it is done by adult women again.

It's getting overcast here ... they have forecast a thunderstorm.

PhloxOfSheep · 25/07/2021 15:49

It rained so I didn't have to weed the veg bed. I'll do it tomorrow. Instead I cooked a fry up for brunch then we went out for a walk amongst lots of sheep. One's face was half white and half black, split almost perfectly down the middle. Like the photo below, but more equal. I've never seen that before.

Squirrel Garden centres can be right fibbers.

Silkiecats · 25/07/2021 15:51

That sheep has the same hair style as DD Shock
