@MissConductUS Mmm sounds lovely. I've got one lonely little blueberry bush in a pot on the garden. It's got about 12 blueberries on it what can I make with 12 blueberries, I wonder?

Just looked up kanelbullar @Champagneforeveryone - they look delicious.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/07/2021 17:38

Phlox That reminds me of my one and only attempt at growing strawberries - we shared the strawberry among us 4.

lachy · 23/07/2021 17:41

My washing dried beautifully on the line. We're expecting rain any second.

MissConductUS · 23/07/2021 18:21

We have wild raspberry bushes up and down my street, and some in my yard, but I haven't bothered to pick any yet. It's a lot of work and the prickers are really sharp.

Got a paper cut on my iPad-unlocking thumb.

highheeledhattie · 23/07/2021 21:13

I wore a new pair of white trousers today and didn't spill food or drink on them.

MissConductUS · 23/07/2021 21:28

Welcome, @highheeledhattie, and thanks for sharing your news. White trousers is really brave!

ZZ, I hope you are not locked out by the change in your fingerprint.

My horse and I thought it was cooler tonight, and we were both very pleased. We thought about having a canter, but then thought ' eh - steady on..." So we didn't.

MissConductUS · 23/07/2021 22:30

Welcome, @Apocalyptichorsewoman, and thanks for sharing your equine excursion news. We have another horse servant owner on the thread. It was cooler in New York today too.

I'm home now, thank goodness. The men are getting organized to make pizza.

DS went to the village funfair today but he got scared by the noise so just had doughnuts and came back.

The weather is predicted to turn today to thunder and rain and cooler temps. The cooler temps will be good but its already flooded in the village.

Silkiecats · 24/07/2021 04:25

Silkiecat keeps asking to go outside but its pitch dark here and Silkiecats' eyesight is very poor. I think Silkiecat may think she is going sunbathing or maybe a date with Mr Foxy.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/07/2021 08:30

DH is out for the weekly food shop and I - hold your breath - will clean the bio bin ( the small kitchen one - not the big on in the yard).

Squirrel26 · 24/07/2021 08:50

Watching Olympic road cycling. Every time I watch cycling it basically makes me relieved I am not a cyclist. It looks like such hard work.

Sunbird24 · 24/07/2021 09:43

I think I need to wash bedding today.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/07/2021 10:37

DH had to get up in the night to comfort DDog1 who was frightened by the thunder. He's declared himself to be "exhausted" as a result, so that's nice for us.

MissConductUS · 24/07/2021 11:00

Happy Caturday, lovely people of the thread!

It's cool out this morning, about 14 C, so I've opened the windows and sliding glass doors to air out the house. The cats went out onto the deck after their breakfast, but Dgirlcat came back in as she thought it was too cold.

Someone's dog ran off and went missing in the county nature preserve adjacent to our house and has been sighted several times in the area. The owner came to our house and gave DS a flyer with his picture. I've been checking the Ring cameras for him. The whole drama is unfolding on the social media site Nextdoor. I've become a bit over-invested in the whole thing.

There's not much on in terms of plans for the weekend. I'll go shopping later, then possibly a trip to Whole Foods with DS.

My bastard neighbours have got their third weekend bouncy castle in a row. Only this one isn’t just a bouncy castle, it’s a full on slide that’s higher than their extension! I can’t be in my garden at all because they’ve got crap party music on really loud to cover the noise of the generator and there are shrieking children above my head. I’ve even had to close every window and internal door in my house to try and get the noise level down in here. So much for avoiding stress…

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/07/2021 12:02

As usual on a Saturday I am slowly working my way through the to do list.
Did I mention that i did not go to the museum? DD forgot an important part of the wedding present and I went and got it and brought it to the venue, which took me about 3 hours and I missed my slot.

HelenaJustina · 24/07/2021 12:12

I’ve had a lie-in, read my book and been on a run into town. This was so exhausting that I rang DH to collect me and buy me a mocha from the chocolaterie for breakfast the two of us had a wander and have arrived gone to find DC watching the Olympic swimming.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/07/2021 12:18

We're all a bit grumpy today aren't we Grin

In further "DH is tired" news.... DH is the designated ironing person in this house much to his displeasure He's been diligently ignoring the ever increasing pile for over two weeks (though some leeway needs to be given as it's been so hot) I have to say I've admired his nerve!

Today he finally cracked and is doing the ironing. He may be using one of those old fashioned flat irons judging by the banging and crashing from downstairs Grin

Sunbird24 · 24/07/2021 12:22

I wasn’t grumpy til the bastard bouncy castle company turned up again this morning! 🤦‍♀️😂
Binge watching Virgin River instead of doing laundry now…

MissConductUS · 24/07/2021 12:31

I went to put the towels in the washing machine and noticed that the pull-out detergent drawer on the Miele was dirty with mold. So I had to take it out and give it a good scrubbing in the sink. The slot it slides into was just as bad, so I had to clean that with some spray cleaner and paper towels kitchen roll.

Sunbird, can you get out of the house for a while?

OP posts:
Sunbird24 · 24/07/2021 12:35

@MissConductUS I could take myself out for a walk but based on the last two weekends this is going to go on until 11pm, and then start up again by about 9 tomorrow morning.

Squirrel26 · 24/07/2021 12:40

I am slightly sympathetic to 'tired' DH as I was woken up at 4am yesterday by my dog standing on my chest and panting in my face (yes. You're hot. So don't COME AND LIE ALL OVER THE BIGGEST HEAT SOURCE IN THE HOUSE.) In conseqsuence I was also 'tired' yesterday, but I was just generally a bit useles, not grumpy.
s
In further 'annoying animal' use I got my ddwrelinquent horse to practice going in the lorry last night after his expensive tantrum on Monday. He strolled straight on and then bit my thumb in his eagerness to get his treats. Hmm

Squirrel26 · 24/07/2021 12:42

(All those typos are because the dog came and smacked the iPad with his paw just as I pressed 'post'.) Hmm
