I've just had my second vaccine and went swimming in the lido there. Swimming was nice. I was one of only three people at the end. Only did 32 lengths but haven't been for ages and was just after vaccine. My finger is now bleeding but have no idea why.

When we arrived back DH knocked on the door to get someone to open it and only wabbit was there looking his excited self. We then found DS in his schoolworkitis favourite place of locked in the bathroom. I've just had a bath and DH had a shower.

Silkiecat has a new favourite place of sleeping on top of a champagne box. Wabbit was found on top of the pouffe again, its just wabbit size.

DS has been approved for a credit card.

DH has been after him for weeks to get one, as he needs to establish a credit history so that he can rent an apartment when he graduates next spring. Without the credit history we would have to cosign the lease and be responsible for the payments.

DS has been resistant to doing so, which is not like him. DH surmised that there was some sense of anxiety about the topic that was keeping DS from moving forward with it, so he had a talk with him about it. He was right, DS was worried about paying all of his own bills once he started working. So DH sat down with him and helped him work out what his net pay would be approximately and what expenses he would have. It seems quite doable, since he won't have student loans or a car payment and we will help him with the security deposit on the flat. He's starting at a really good salary for a new graduate too. The anxiety was banished and DS now has his first credit card. DH is really a brilliant dad. Smile

Prok, I'm glad you got your ear issue resolved. When I worked in NYC it wasn't unusual to see police on the trains, looking for someone.

I'm off in about two hours for my surgical follow-up. I walked two miles today.

Miss 2 miles / 3,2 km - that is a good start.

I wanted to try the 5 km to work but it is too humid. I am not designed for this.
@DoctorTwo, that's the late, great Magdalen Berns.
You know that, and I know that. I want to know those people who don't know, so I can mansplain her to them. She was a proper shero. Luckily, because of the internet, her thoughts will live forever.

I'm a bit of a fan.

Soz for the merail.

Sunbird24 · 16/07/2021 09:10

At risk of aging myself, I’m watching Murder She Wrote and I’m sure the kid from Flight of the Navigator is in it..,

Sunbird24 · 16/07/2021 09:12

And Courtney Cox!

Squirrel26 · 16/07/2021 09:22

I feel like I may have confused Flight Of The Navigator with The Never Ending Story in my head.

Popcornbetty · 16/07/2021 11:48

Scorching hot today, just came in from garden with dc who have ran me ragged, although look like butter wouldn't melt atm Hmm...We're cooling off indoors before we head to preschool. I'm hoping to to get a sit out in the sun when my youngest naps this afternoon. Dinner will be something quick and Friday-like so no pre prep to do thankfully Smile

Popcornbetty · 16/07/2021 11:53

@MissConductUS good luck for your surgical follow up appt, hope all goes okay.

Silkiecats · 16/07/2021 11:59

Woke up feeling like I had been hit around the head with a hammer and about to be sick but improving now.

Getting lots of emails this morning. Ds still has schoolworkitis. Dd happily gone off and announced she is calling orthodontist and going there and back by herself for first time.

Silkiecat is mad with dh as he is being very selfish and taking work calls when she has tasks for him as her chosen servant. He really should be grateful that he is the chosen one.

Champagneforeveryone · 16/07/2021 12:34

It looks like DS may be in line for a further bout of isolation as a friend had a positive LFT and is waiting for the result of a PCR test.

DH is filling in as church warden and has promised to take me up the tower later after this afternoons funeral. I'm very excited about this Smile

Silkiecats · 16/07/2021 12:45

We are getting besieged by covid case notifications from both schools now. Though DS already has 10 day isolation so he is maxed out on isolation atm. We are now getting group covid e-mails rather than individual ones like 10 kids have tested positive this morning.

The nurse yesterday said I needed a second vaccine to avoid Delta, I felt like pointing out DS was on his 3rd isolation and I have 2 kids in secondary.

Sunbird24 · 16/07/2021 13:16

My employer has sent out an email to say we’ve had a 58% increase in cases over 7 days, but that’s across several sites and is still less than 30 people. I’m quite glad I’m not in at the moment though!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/07/2021 13:25

They opened a walk in vacc. spot on the square - people are queing in the sun.

I spent the end of my work day at the zoo - the silkies have chickens - sitting on a bench, watching cows.

MissConductUS · 16/07/2021 14:30

Thanks Popcornbetty, the post-surgical exam was fine. The nurse practitioner was a bloke and a rather cute one at that. Smile It did hurt a bit when he took out the stitches, but I'm glad to have them out.

Champagne, what happened with your covid scare? If you're contemplating sanctifying the bell tower, I'm guessing you're in the clear.

Slikie, the nurse is right, you should get the second jab.

I am still watching Bosch, but I just discovered another Amazon Prime series called Lore that is based on a podcast by the same name. It's about historical mysteries and crimes. It leans a bit woo, but seems very well done and interesting. I'm now following the podcast.

It's been really hot here this week, but I am delighted that it's Friday.

Someone is having a barbecue. Outside my office. How very dare they, at 3.40pm while I’m at WORK. It’s not helping my concentration.

Maybe I’ll have a cereal bar.

MissConductUS · 16/07/2021 16:08

Squirrel, if this is outside of your home office, get out the hose and douse the grill. Or just ask them for a burger.

Prok, you have cows in your zoo? When we visited DD a few weeks ago we did a lot of cow and horse watching on the way.

miss, I have taken the executive decision to ignore my test and trace notification (which I've recently learned is not a legal requirement) Due to a series of events too boring even for this thread, I am certain my contact is a colleague who I was sat next to, with a screen between us.

DH has not taken me up the tower yet as I had to take ChampagneCat for her booster, which was over £50 Shock She's furious at the deprivation of her liberty and caused many turned heads in the car park due to the unholy racket she caused in the car.

I've also sorted out the pet insurance (which is now over £80 a month) and rectified the fairly serious oversight of not adding DH onto the car breakdown policy. Thankfully he's not needed it but the policy is over 5 years old and I've not noticed until today Grin

So proper adulting Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/07/2021 16:34

Miss Yes, they have - near the petting area (Streichelzoo) - a number of areas for ordinary farm animals (cows, pigs, sheep, goats). The cow had a young calf. DC witnessed the birth of twin goats when they were little.
I also spent some time watching building works for the new rhinoceros area. Interesting from a more professional point of view.

Thankfully our friends and family were not too heavely affected by the floods, though we were worried for some.

Sunbird24 · 16/07/2021 17:19

I have put up new blackout curtains in my spare bedroom so now when my parents come to visit they won’t be kept awake all night by all the LEDs in my neighbours’ garden.

HelenaJustina · 16/07/2021 22:07

I got home at 8.30pm, that’s 5 hours unpaid! But a huge job has been ticked off which is good. I’m shattered and have had 2 gins, this is a mistake as getting up tomorrow will be trickier. I have to make a pony themed birthday cake... I offered to buy a Colin instead but was foiled.

Silkiecats · 16/07/2021 22:21

Dd said her school may have to shut completely as there are so many covid cases, it seems half the school has tested positive and the other half isn't testing.

Dh is playing piano. I now have a wierd rash but maybe heat or vaccine. Just had fish fingers, beans and bread and butter. Its fishy Friday.

Sunbird24 · 16/07/2021 22:32

Turns out 2 of my work colleagues have tested positive - if I hadn’t been on leave for the last two weeks I’d be back in isolation! I’m staying home for another week before I go back, hopefully it’s safe again by then as I’m 4 weeks’ pregnant…

Silkiecats · 16/07/2021 22:35

Congratulations Sunbird on your 2 🐻 🐻s, must have been the socks.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/07/2021 22:38

definitely the socks ...
