Argh DS has to isolate for 10 days now - at least DS never goes anywhere but he will have no school for 10 days. So I will be teaching him and his GCSE speaking assessment won't be happening. Maybe he can help assemble IKEA furniture Grin

Frownette · 11/07/2021 17:07

Oh you got the bed?

Silkiecats · 11/07/2021 17:10

Yes a bedframe and a small coffee table for the living room. I got an IKEA coffee table as they are really cheap and life expectancy of furniture sharing with wabbit is low. Sharing with DS isn't that much higher. Though I did get some Dunelm sofa covers which must taste really bad as wabbit hasn't been near them Easter Shock So I added an Dunelm matching pouffe which wabbit now just uses to bounce on then over like leapbunny.

HelenaJustina · 11/07/2021 18:03

I have had a lovely and quite exciting day, which I will omit from this post and tell you instead that the roll of loo-paper in the downstairs cloakroom has no perforations. DC1 has checked others from the same packet and they don’t have the same fault.

MissConductUS · 11/07/2021 18:24

I have breaking news on the blueberry bread. It is delicious, just a bit crumbly. I've put it in the fridge, hoping that the butter in it will make it easier to cut when cold.

Don't worry about tagging me, popcornbetty, as the hostess and greeter here I am obliged to read everything. And you're right, knowing that DS has a good job in hand next year is a big relief.

I am now going to lie down and ice my hip for a bit.

I think you can take showers again now?

We've got just over an hour before the shops shut for ⚽️

I'm trying to think if there's anything we need which made me realise how spoilt we are having our every whim catered for. I have vege sausages in so can have hot dogs and chips, or sausages, mash and peas. And yet I'm still contemplating buying some white fish and doing steamed parcels with jasmine rice. Gluttony gluttony gluttony.

HildaTablet · 11/07/2021 18:40

I went to the tip. There was nobody else there. It was bliss Grin

The car needed filling with petrol so I thought 'why not?' and the petrol station was deserted as well.

Double bliss GrinGrin

I asked DH to get some jelly tots from the shop, he came back with jelly babies. He went back to get jelly tots realising this was an emergency but they were closed as someone thought the football was more important than my jelly tot emergency. I said I don't eat the black jelly babies and DH may as well have those and he said he started but he said it was too difficult as green and black jelly babies look identical Confused So I gave DS half as DS won't have any trouble telling colours apart.

Frownette · 11/07/2021 20:03

GOOOOAL

Silkiecats · 11/07/2021 20:06

I knew the score from the pub noise before the BBC news update.

DH is playing the piano. I have eaten my jelly babies.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/07/2021 20:07

I am on the football thread, too.

Sunbird24 · 11/07/2021 20:09

My American friend is even watching in Washington and cheering for England! 😂 It’s only fair, I stayed up a few times to cheer on his team (college football)

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/07/2021 20:29

I had lunch on the balcony today. It rained, but the balcony is covered so I didn’t get wet. I went to the supermarket. It wasn’t busy but there was no-one serving on the deli counter so I had to get packet ham.

Am I doing this right?

Sunbird24 · 11/07/2021 20:32

What no naice ham? I am so sorry 🤭

mathanxiety · 11/07/2021 21:46

It's raining here and I need to go out and get the grocery shopping done.

DD3 is watching the men's tennis final (a replay) and we're sort of following the football updates. DD made some pumpkin bread last night. We bake like mad when the weather makes it possible to use the kitchen. I'll be cooking something tonight to last us until Wednesday or Thursday when I may have an early end to my work day.

The cat has been campaigning for dinner since 1.15pm. I may well give in and feed her soon. She's racing around, miowing, and then pacing loudly past anyone who is seated. Also scrabbling at the kitchen cupboards and a full length mirror hanging in the hallway. Usually she stands in front of the TV and scratches at the screen but it's turned on now and it gives her static shocks so she's scratching at other things instead.

Also just remembered I put a load of towels in earlier and need to put them in the dryer.

MissConductUS · 11/07/2021 21:53

Good luck England!

Welcome, @MrsSchadenfreude, and thanks for sharing your news. Yes, that was perfect, you are obviously a natural for this thread.

I slept for a bit, which was lovely. We will be having our weekly Zoom call with DD and MIL in a few minutes.

Dh is still playing the piano. Silkiecat has had enough and is now howling over the top of it. There used to be one song she hated she would always howl over.

Sunbird24 · 11/07/2021 23:11

I’m in bed, the heavens have opened, and I've just remembered I didn’t close the lid on my garden waste bin after my pruning efforts earlier. 🤦‍♀️

Frownette · 11/07/2021 23:15

Ah no, we lost. Really dreading any news of hooliganism tomorrow.

It's tipping it down here as well

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/07/2021 23:20

I am sorry England lost.

I could not say it on the other thread - but when my team and the Dutch are out it is Italy for me since Dino kept for Torino in 1972.

No rain expected here - and a lovely spider is walking over my desk.

Silkiecats · 11/07/2021 23:22

Its really quiet here now.

Dd said she went past our old house yesterday and the new owners had changed the door I painted dark red to a light grey colour. Dd said the house now looks like any old boring house not a special house with a red door.

Frownette · 11/07/2021 23:37

Prok the Italians were violent though, that's not sportsmanship or skill.

Silkie we used to have a red door, very fine it was too. I'm trying to decide if I want a snack or not.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/07/2021 06:23

Frownette Better not talk about sportsmanship or fan behaviour on this thread.

A small patch of rain is crossing over - I'll wait till it is done before I go to work. I do not like carrying umbrellas.

deste · 12/07/2021 11:43

I did enjoy being on the Kayak and could have had a go on the paddle board but I cannot stand cold water so did not want to risk falling in. It was an exceptionally warm day and that’s why I decided to have a go. The last time I did it was in Canada three years ago.

Sunbird24 · 12/07/2021 17:23

I’m trapped in my swing chair in the garden til the rain eases off - came out to sit in it in my dressing gown a couple of hours ago and been reading my book, but the heavens just opened. The waterproof cover is over the top so I’m doing my best to hold it closed, it’s like being in a cocoon!
