DH bought flat peaches at lunchtime and just said would I like one. He's gone downstairs and discovered DS has eaten all 4 already.

MissConductUS · 12/07/2021 18:14

Sunbird, well done for posting under such adverse conditions.

Silkie, food disappears like that at our house too. It's probably worse with a 21 year old.

I went out and walked about a mile at lunchtime. My hips was sore, but less so than when I walked the same route prior to the surgery. So that's good news.

This will be a big week for doctor's appointments. I have one on Wednesday to establish care with a new GP. There was a bit of a wait to find a female GP who was taking new patients. I hope she's as nice as my last one. Then Thursday I have my surgical follow-up, which will probably get fobbed off onto the surgeon's nurse.

DS is small at least but its certain foods the whole lot will disappear whatever the quantity and even if eating that much will make DS really sick. He will do things like eat a big family size pack of grapes and a multi pack of about 10 apples and then say his stomach hurts Hmm

Squirrel26 · 12/07/2021 20:12

A man with a Labrador has just walked by which had caused the dog a lot of angst.

There is a program on Radio 4 tomorrow about the history of high vis clothing. I can't listen to it live but I'm looking forward to catching up later.

That sounds interesting. I've just seen a fab picture on SM of a deer's antlers lighting up in a snowy Scandinavian landscape. Apparently in Finland some of the deer herds' antlers are painted in reflective paint to prevent them from being hit by cars when crossing roads.

MissConductUS · 13/07/2021 00:44

@Helocariad, your handle sounds familiar. If you are new to the thread, thanks for sharing that interesting high vis wildlife news.

The fourth season of Unforgotten became available today on Amazon Prime/PBS. Nicola Walker is fab and a nice break from Bosch.

DS got a letter from his uni informing him that he made the Dean's list this spring.

@Squirrel26 I heard that advertised and thought of this thread! One to find in BBC Sounds later in the week...

Silkiecats · 13/07/2021 07:30

Second day of trying to get DS to home ed. Yesterday he was walking away every time and not speaking all day. Eating excessive quantities of fruit and going to the bathroom every 15 minutes seemed to be his plan for the day. I heard he got an EHCP though.

Children's school have Ofsted in today for second time in just over a year. Watched Macron's speech yesterday at 8pm French time.

Now I will go back to trying to do DS's lessons. DD said she thinks she will be a close contact soon but at least she does her own lessons.

Silkiecats · 13/07/2021 07:52

And what has happened to jelly tots? They are no longer flat, there are now black ones (maybe there were before and I shut this out), they now say vegan friendly.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 13/07/2021 08:02

Another orthopaedic check in, knee replacement in my case. Bacon sandwich, pint of proper coffee, drugs. An odd sensation, being banned from housework. I got very twitchy yesterday due to not being able to change over the washing loads.

Champagneforeveryone · 13/07/2021 10:42

DH has come home after one job as his diary is empty The thing is he might have to go out again so couldn't possibly undertake any sort of job larger than the emptying of the compost caddy, just in case he's required for an immediate return Hmm

In boring news I am unwell. I've been unwell for nearly two weeks with no respite. I have had a negative Covid test but there's dark mutterings about it being a false negative. I'm waiting for my third callback from NHS111 to try and get some clarity. Until that time I've been told to isolate again

Helocariad · 13/07/2021 12:19

Really sorry to hear that @Champagneforeveryone , that sounds tough!
Fingers crossed it is a true negative and you feel better soon Flowers

Deathraystare · 13/07/2021 13:21

Had another dose of iron via a drip today. I hate needles (anyone like them?) and they tell me my veins are too short??? so cannot have them in the crook of my elbow but have to have them in my hand where it is more painful :(

At 61 I still seem to be having the occasional period (though not much blood) or perhaps it is something more sinister? I will have to have a smear test (great!!!!). It certainly feels like a period. I feel really miserable. It is all hospitals this week. I am meeting a friend tomorrow who is going for a mammogram, then I am back to another hospital on Thursday.

In better (belated) news my Godson is a dad and my friend (his mum) is a grandma! I have seen a lovely video of him smiling with relief after a poo (he is quite the poo master!)

MissConductUS · 13/07/2021 16:50

So many medical issues these days, I may have to open a clinic thread. Smile

@DisgraceToTheYChromosome, when did you have the knee replaced?

@Champagneforeveryone, did you have the PCR test or lateral flow? If it was the PCR a false negative is unlikely. Any trouble breathing? If you don't have one, get an oxygen saturation meter that clips onto the end of your finger. O2 levels need watching if you might have covid.

@Deathraystare, are you not absorbing iron from tablets?

Not much new here. I'm looking forward to meeting my new GP tomorrow and burdening her with my many medical issues. Grin

Champagneforeveryone · 13/07/2021 17:44

You would do a roaring trade miss Grin

I've managed to speak to my lovely GP (for those of you not in the UK, this is something of a triumph) who has agreed that if not Covid (though it likely was) it sounds like some other type of virus that will take simply take time to recover from. He's sending a sick note via email for a further week which is a bit of a relief, and has made me promise faithfully to get in touch in a week if I'm no better.

DH is still in good health, and as it's most unlike him to allow me to suffer from some malady without experiencing a more severe version himself this also points to Covid (he is double jabbed)

Deathraystare · 13/07/2021 18:28

MissConductUS

Nope, no tablets. Just as well as I taking loads of other bloody pills (all prescribed I might add!)

HelenaJustina · 13/07/2021 19:21

Mildly unsettling day at work. I was planning to start cleaning the bathrooms but got sidetracked and spent over an hour helping DC2 clear out their pigsty room.

Silkiecats · 13/07/2021 19:46

DS still isolating as covid close contact and has developed a severe case of schoolwork-itis which involves locking himself in the bathroom for prolonged periods so he cannot be taught.

DD has been at school. I've have been trying to contact school but no-one is replying.

I am supposed to have second AZ vaccine on Thursday but nervous about it, was supposed to have a FBC before it but had to cancel it due to kids drama and now its too late.

Champagneforeveryone · 13/07/2021 22:16

Well.. I've just received a ping from the Covid app telling me I'm a close contact and have to isolate for 7 days. I'm signed off work anyway but it would have been nice if the heavens aligned and made them run consecutively.

DS is at work and I have a strange suspicion he may also have find he has been pinged. DH (the malingerer) remains solidly unpinged Grin

Silkiecats · 13/07/2021 22:23

Our school is now up to 9 year 9s with covid and just over half off including DS. DS is symptomless for covid, just schoolworkitis. His plan seems to be just to eat industrial quantities of fruit and live in bathrooms as in bathrooms you can't be made to do schoolwork and as he loves fruit. DD says she's expecting to become close contact imminently.

Sunbird24 · 13/07/2021 23:29

I have an online course next week, I’ve managed to get my headphones and mic sorted so the browser can access audio, no such luck with the video. Will have to ask a techie mate for instructions!

Silkiecats · 13/07/2021 23:37

Have you got your camera turned off Sunbird? It's often the F8 key to turn on or off.

Sunbird24 · 13/07/2021 23:39

I can turn my camera on, but can’t share it to the browser for some reason. It’s a work laptop and various apps are blocked at admin level so I don’t know if it’s because of that

Silkiecats · 13/07/2021 23:39

Wabbit's baby gate has fallen down twice today. DH only just noticed the second time. Wabbit could have had lots of fun with jumping on cat and bouncing around the house but no DH is putting it back up.

Sunbird24 · 13/07/2021 23:40

Tbh I’d prefer to do the course without being on camera, but some of my senior management are on it as well so I ought to make an effort
