Prok and ZZTop you need to join us in our healthy eating. Only strawberry trifle and scones with strawberry jam and cream allowed.

Silkiecats · 07/07/2021 16:21

Just asked DS and he said they said in his class who had to go home for 10 days and he wasn't listed so hopefully has escaped for now at least.

I have discovered flies don't like music. I've been playing Envole-moi which means fly me away and it seems to work. It also came up with a joke vaccinez-moi video which is good.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/07/2021 16:44

@Frownette - I would love too, but strawberries are not in season and I have to google what a trifle is.
Can i substitute with grapes, red peppers and Rivaner?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/07/2021 16:45

Silkie Is it the music ot the message? I could try to sing to our flies ...

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 07/07/2021 16:56

That sounds like the perfect diet. I'm in!
Silkiecats · 07/07/2021 16:58

I just did an experiment and the fly went with the Youtube advert, can't say I blame him.

Trifle is normally sponge fingers soaked in sherry at the base then a layer of strawberry jelly then a layer of cold custard then a layer of cream. www.thespruceeats.com/traditional-english-trifle-recipe-435147

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/07/2021 17:21

Silkiecats - That looks delicious!

Champagneforeveryone · 07/07/2021 17:58

The door handle is finally being replaced on DS's car. Every time DH comes in there's a dramatic sigh but much jovial laughter when he's outside, as half the village trundles past like the worlds slowest carnival.

There's been progress with uni applications today also, and all of this makes me feel that DS is making those first steps into the big wide world Shock

Champagneforeveryone · 07/07/2021 18:03

I'm also in a minority among British folk, but I really dislike trifle. There's just... so much going on Hmm

Frownette · 07/07/2021 18:19

You're a purist, Champers

MissConductUS · 07/07/2021 18:23

I have just found out that my surgery is scheduled for 11:00 AM tomorrow, so I have to arrive at 10:00 to get ready.

This morning, one of my key direct reports informed me that she's relocating to Arizona and will be resigning in four weeks. So now I have to start the mad scramble to replace her, which almost certainly will not happen before she leaves. She has a number of special qualifications and has been lovely to work with.

This is not a good time to be dealing with this. Sad

Hope surgery goes well tomorrow MissC

Silkiecats · 07/07/2021 18:26

Have renewed the house insurance, £1000 Shock as its thatched.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/07/2021 18:35

Miss 11 am your time is 17 pm in my time - or...?

Squirrel26 · 07/07/2021 18:45

I'm also not a big fan of trifle. It's true, there is a LOT going on, and I'm not really a fan of custard and cream together, or of sherry.

I did not know that Lee Child was British, @MissConductUS. Have you seen the film with Tom Cruise? I've heard lots of people complain about how ridiculous it is because Jack Reacher is very tall and Tom Cruise...isn't. Grin

MissConductUS · 07/07/2021 19:09

Prok, it is a 6 hour time difference between New York and Berlin, so you are correct, the time will be 1700 for you.

Squirrel, his real name is James Grant and he was born in Coventry:

Lee Child

He seemed like quite a nice bloke, and good looking too.

I despise Tom Cruise, for a variety of reasons, so I would rather watch paint dry than see one of his movies, the little runt. My intense dislike of him is mostly attributable to his cult-driven denunciation of women who have taken antidepressants for postnatal depression.

If you're not familiar with the incident, here's more about it:

Scientology is a weird one.

Best of luck MissC!! Soon over and done with!

MadKittenWoman · 07/07/2021 19:29

We found a tiny froglet on the grass perilously near our kitten and I put it back in the pond plants.

Silkiecats · 07/07/2021 20:09

Very noisy here at the village pub, think there might be a football match on.

MissConductUS · 07/07/2021 20:22

We get those little frogs on our deck in the summer, @MadKittenWoman. They're just over an inch big and change color to match whatever surface they're on. The cats are quite curious about them but generally, leave them alone.

Thanks frownette, I'm just hoping for the ligament repair not being necessary, but we'll see. It will be nice to have it behind me.

Scientologists can believe what they want, but denigrating women for seeking medical care crosses a line.

I am partial to sherry trifle - my mum used to make it with tinned fruit cocktail, which was chopped peach & pear with 1 grape & 1 luminously red cherryGrin.
Best wishes for tomorrow Miss

languagelover96 · 07/07/2021 21:13

Today I discovered that I love life again. I also learned that one kitchen light needs attention pronto too.

HildaTablet · 07/07/2021 21:20

Good wishes for tomorrow,MissC.

Trifle.....mmmm. I love a good trifle.

Frownette · 07/07/2021 21:42

Yayyy! Hilda is with us on our health kick :)

Silkiecats · 07/07/2021 22:16

I can tell the football result faster from the pub noise than the BBC live page.
