How old were you when you first got a mortgage?

My DD is 22 and buying her first house. She was lucky to leave university and get a well paid job and really wants to get onto the property ladder. (We are assisting with a deposit however!)

Anyway it got me thinking - how old were you when you got your mortgage? I was 30 odd so 22 seems very young to me

Rapunzel, she left school aged 17 in March 2020 after completing her full 6 years of high school (Scotland). Planned to have a gap year, then pandemic hit. She's been working full-time for NHS since last summer as a health care assistant and saved her 15% deposit from her earnings. She got her keys to her flat this week.

You must be very proud, well done to your daughter. Another one who worked full time in the nhs through the pandic. I went straight from mat leave to pandemic which was a big jump!

Wow, I am surprised everyone was so young!!! I was 32, and I would say about two thirds of my friends own their houses now (three years later).

24 with a NorthernRock 125% one. Was very lucky, since moved to our bank as they took over the mortgage and loan, we just kept the same term.

I was 25.

19 Ish.

20. This was around 15 years ago. We're now in our second and probably forever home. It was a good decision to buy back then.

22 I'm now 36. Seems quite young but my sister got hers at 19! Although she got a 100% mortgage back in the day!
