I was out for a walk tonight and I decided to try a little jog to see how it felt as I want to try c25k but I'm worried I'm a bit too fat still.

Anyway, I was just jogging along when I saw a car slow down out of the corner of my eye and then a milkshake smacked me in the head. Bloody hurt so I stopped and took out my ear buds and this guy is hanging out of the car window oinking at me.

I was too shocked to say anything to him so I just dipped in to the nearest garden, as if it was my house and I was going home, and the car drove off with the bloke yelling "fat cunt".

It's shook me up a bit, tbh. It was a couple of hours ago and I'm posting it here because I just need to get it off my chest. I keep going from upset to angry but also laughing because who actually does that to someone?! It was absurd.

OP posts:

At first they laughed and then they asked how you did it

Stealing that, what a brilliant phrase! Rings true with me for sure.

PaulaTrilloe · 30/05/2021 09:36

Report it they may have done this to others who might have car reg CCTV info. A repeated pattern of behaviour on a road

Lollyneenah · 30/05/2021 09:39

Please do report this OP he's assaulted you and harassed you Flowers I would bet my very last pound that you were not the first or last person that he abused yesterday alone.
I hope you're feeling okay this morning Flowers

Very likely to be true for the dickhead in the OP. Driving around, rather than walking, drinking take-away milkshakes which are absolutely full of sugar and rubbish ingredients - if he isn't already overweight, he soon will be - while the OP will be slim and fit.
HaveringWavering · 30/05/2021 09:45

That is utterly shocking OP, I am so sorry it happened to you. Also the beach comment. Out if interest, what part of the country do you live in?

Tiddlywinkly · 30/05/2021 09:48

Op, don't give him a second thought. He's not worth it. As a fellow runner, please don't be put off by this. What happened is everything to do with him, not you.

Whenever I see anyone running, my first thought is, 'Good for you'.

Iampicklerick · 30/05/2021 09:48

I mean as far as this guy goes who threw the milkshake at the OP, he is still riding shot gun in a friends car after going maccys drive through for a milkshake. It’s hardly adult life goals.

I used to drive a beaten up car and had people at crossings shout insults at me or throw eggs at the car (what kind of dickhead even walks around with eggs ready and poised to throw at strangers) I used to drive off laughing “don’t laugh at me mate, you’re fucking walking Grin hahahaha”

Karma has already got these people beat. That’s why they have to steal your sunshine.

Crinkle77 · 30/05/2021 09:49

What utter cunts!

hazandduck · 30/05/2021 09:51

I’m so sorry this has happened to you, OP, it’s actually hard to believe people so cruel are just driving around among us. Please don’t let that absolute dick win by putting you off. That’s what he wants!

I had some young teens in public laugh at me running because ‘my tits jiggled’ when I ran. I went straight home basically! I totally feel you on how it puts you off and knocks your confidence because you’re just minding your own business, living your life, trying to improve yourself, you aren’t inviting comment or anything. Wish they would fuck off! It is actually despicable that people can behave like that.

Hope you’re ok and don’t give up, couch to 5k transformed my life some 6 years ago.

Ninkanink · 30/05/2021 09:55

@SisterAgatha

This has happened to me. As a kid. And a friend of mine who isn’t in the least bit fat had it happen to her too.

Some men will look at a woman on the street being her own fabulous self and want to take something away from her. Don’t let this absolute dreg of society and his childish stupidity stop you from finishing c25k. He will always be a useless bastard with very bad life skills and probably several prison sentences. Walk away from this knowing a man saw you on the street and was so jealous of your confidence that he had to try and take some for his own x

This. Pathetic losers in life.
longcoffeebreak · 30/05/2021 09:59

Report to the police definitely - don't minimise how shit this was!

Mmmcheese89 · 30/05/2021 10:05

Keep running op. I'm very overweight and get things shouted out of cars at me. I think their life will go one of two ways; some days they'll abuse the wrong person and get a face full of fist, or they'll realise they're a cunt and have to live with the shame of their past actions.

SirenSays · 30/05/2021 10:08

Years ago I was walking home with some friends after a night out in the pouring rain. A low sports car came speeding down the road, slowed for a puddle and then tried to absolutely soak us. He sped away yelling abuse, right into a speed bump. I don't know much about cars, but that was the most satisfying crunch I think I've ever heard. Karma will get his arse too OP

Imnothereforthedrama · 30/05/2021 10:08

Absolutely disgusting I’m outraged on your behalf. Keep going op you will loose weight / get fit but he will still be a twat .

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/05/2021 10:11

He assaulted you. I hope the nasty little shit gets caught the next time he breaks the law. Well done on your fitness achievements, and on ignoring his effort to undermine you Flowers

dementedma · 30/05/2021 10:13

I'm awestruck that you can walk 12 miles!! You sound a powerful woman in many ways. You go on your glorious way!!

Tubs11 · 30/05/2021 10:15

Let something like that make you more determined to do the c25k! You're clearly motivated to do it and that's awesome.
That clown reminds me of that moron who tried to harass Prof Whitty as he was buying his lunch.... Clearly nothing between the ears!

InTheDrunkTank · 30/05/2021 10:16

This was an unprovoked assaualt and verbal abuse. The kind of abusive person who gets a power kick out of abusing strangers is seriously unhinged.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 30/05/2021 10:17

Christ that bloke is vile and will always be one of life’s losers. I feel for his family, can you imagine having someone like that in your life?
That would hurt me Op so I’m totally taking my hat off to your cool and calm response.

Tal45 · 30/05/2021 10:19

God you've met your fair share of nasty people haven't you. There's something very wrong with some people.

Sinner10 · 30/05/2021 10:20

As if people do shit like this!! Please do not let it deter you.

Closetbeanmuncher · 30/05/2021 10:20

You're doing great, good on you girl.

Keep this one with you and remember....

Someone threw a milkshake at me and oinked.
pinkmagnolias · 30/05/2021 10:21

I’m sorry this happened to you. Some people are vile.

I remember a colleague and I used walk at lunchtime in an attempt to lose weight. Every day we passed a man running slowly and persistently and my colleague invariably made a comment about how he shouldn’t bother. She didn’t seem to comprehend we were unable to run to a bus stop due to our own poor fitness levels.
A few years later she took up jogging herself and I hope she remembers how she sniggered at that man and feels embarrassed and ashamed.

MrDarcysMa · 30/05/2021 10:22

That's a physical assault - could you go to the police ? Is there any cctv nearby ?

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/05/2021 10:22
