Holiday was moved from last year to this year and now I'm here im having a shit time.

Dp is ill, sudden gall bladder trouble and in pain and indigestion all the time. 3 strong lots of antibiotics and he's no better, tired all the time, lost weight as he can't keep much down.

I'm upset because I hate seeing him from going from a fit and active man to one who is sleeping a lot. The kids dds 9 and 11 know there's something wrong but they don't know what. Theres talk of ultrasounds and ct scans..I'm convinced he has cancer.

We shouldn't have come but dp wanted to. I'm going to the very limited shows with the kids but most of it is prebooked the whole atmosphere just isn't the same..just not the same.

I could cry (no judging) just going to drink a large glass of wine instead

Oh that's awful for you both. Really hope he is able to enjoy some of the time away. Is he able to come out on day trips?

Just posting to say I'm so sorry you are having such an awful time op. It's bad enough when a family member is ill at home, never mind on a postponed holiday.

This doesn't sound right about your dp. The gp should be sending him for a consultant's appt within a fortnight if there is any suspicion of cancer. Other than that, Covid allowing, most gallbladder operations are pretty straightforward nowadays. I hope he is able to get things sorted soon and the outcome is positive

We know there is a gall stone there as he had a ct scan for something unrelated..but he was never told..until he had his first gallstone attack 2 months ago.

Since then he's got worse. He hasn't been referred..the doctor has finally admitted there's something else going on and he's due an ultrasound but no referral to a consultant yet. His bloods aren't right either

I'm at my wits end.

We did manage a drive today..and he's determined to go to the beach for an hour or two.

I'm back at the appartment now. I'm about to have a good cry

I, too, think GP should have made a rapid referral for your DP at the outset. If his pain gets so bad that it isn't being kept under control by medication, consider going to A&E. Acute gall stone pain is really terrible.

Take him to a&e as the other poster said he needs treating and making sure he's ok not just left alone to be in pain with no follow up.

That an awfully painful condition to be expected to just live with!!

To be honest he needs to be on a 2 week wait priority pathway to see someone and possible complete a FiT (poo) test and full blood count followed by perhaps a colonoscopy or further scans

If he's unwell he should present to the nearest A&E not just for pain management but if he has an obstruction then that can be very serious if it's left

I'm so sorry you're going thru this but please don't just sit and ignore it and get medical attention and just explain to the kids their Dad isn't feeling very well

This Where are you? I'd get home and go to A&E. I don't know how much hassle it is if he gets seen in another area.

The gallstone pain comes and goes. He get pain in his shoulder and back as well as his side when an attack is coming. Its the indigestion and the pain just under his ribs in the middle thats getting him down. Its so tender and hurts when he walks and then he burps a lot.

That sounds horrible OP..especially after waiting so long for the holiday. We sometimes set too high expectations on a event which just adds to the crappy feeling and makes a bad situation even worse.

Going home a bit early isnt terrible. If it's all a bit crap then it's not worth the hassle.

I do hope he can be seen sooner. A good cry makes things a bit clearer come the morning, far better than bottling it all up and battling on.

The gall bladder pain is mostly manageable..but its his actual stomach that he feels shitty with.

He's just pretty wiped out.

I also think he should have been on a 2 week pathway as well but thats our local health board for you l.

A and e said the last time there's nothing they can do for him now just painkillers.

His doctor just gives him antibiotics. The ultrasound department are only scanning urgent people..we don't know if he's seen as urgent..his doctor is not hopeful

I work in Nottingham in a hospital bit have to work with these hospitals on referrals to our specialists they both have good gastro and bowel specialists

Please don't leave it I'd seek attention now

Sounds like gastritis - I was having similar sounding attacks. Vomiting and excruciating pain in the middle just under my ribs. My GP prescribed omeprazole and it's stopped the main symptoms. I still hv to be a bit careful about what I eat and when I eat it but it's made a phenomenal difference.

Hope you have a smooth journey home and he gets some answers and help soon.

Only scanning urgent cases? Thats crazy. I had to go to my hospital recently as my GP couldn’t find the strings of my coil to remove it. Hardly urgent. I’d had the hospital referral and had the ultrasound scan within 3 weeks. Get back in contact with your GP, the wait sounds bonkers!
