Holiday was moved from last year to this year and now I'm here im having a shit time.

Dp is ill, sudden gall bladder trouble and in pain and indigestion all the time. 3 strong lots of antibiotics and he's no better, tired all the time, lost weight as he can't keep much down.

I'm upset because I hate seeing him from going from a fit and active man to one who is sleeping a lot. The kids dds 9 and 11 know there's something wrong but they don't know what. Theres talk of ultrasounds and ct scans..I'm convinced he has cancer.

We shouldn't have come but dp wanted to. I'm going to the very limited shows with the kids but most of it is prebooked the whole atmosphere just isn't the same..just not the same.

I could cry (no judging) just going to drink a large glass of wine instead

@ghostmouse, so glad to hear they’re sorting him out, but I’m sure you’re terrified about an operation, too! Hopefully it’s just to remove his gallbladder.

That “yellow stuff” is the bile that the gallbladder makes. It’s supposed to go into the top of the small intestine (duodenum) when you eat and break up any fat, but as you’re seeing, your DP is having a gallbladder “malfunction” so his gallbladder keeps pushing out bile, there’s no fat for it to break up, and then instead of staying in the duodenum (which is right below the stomach),* it goes into his stomach and comes back up.Sad Fingers crossed, he’ll feel much better soon!

*I’ve attached what I thought was one of the better drawings, just in case you want to see.

AT least he's finally where he needs to be and being treated like it's urgent.

I hope the CT results come back soon and show something treatable.

Glad he’s in the right place and being taken seriously. And happy birthday to you.

Ohdeariedear · 30/05/2021 11:24

@ghostmouse sorry this is happening on your birthday (happy birthday) but it’s good news that he’s ‘in the system’ now and getting seen. Hopefully you will get answers soon about what’s going on. Having been through something similar with my DH recently my advice is just to get through it one day at a time and try not to race too far ahead with what ifs etc. (Hard to do, I know).

SilverBirchWithout · 30/05/2021 11:28

When this is all over you need to make a formal complaint about your GP.
Gall bladder pain and other symptoms should not be ignored in this way.
A couple of years ago I experienced my first gall bladder attack on a Thursday by Sunday I had the beginning of sepsis and was admitted by an OOHs Dr as an emergency and then spent 10 days in hospital recovering.
I’m very shocked that your GP did not refer quickly to the hospital.
To reassure you, after my gall bladder OP, I recovered quickly. It is very unlikely to be cancer, the blood tests are likely picking up the high level of infection, and further tests are being done to check whether it is now under control.

BunsyGirl · 30/05/2021 11:35

OP, glad your DP is getting sorted. I too had gallbladder problems which my GP misdiagnosed for months. I ended up with a blockage and turning yellow due to jaundice. My bloods were all over the place due to my liver not functioning properly. I was very lucky in the end as, when it was taken out, I had 28 gallstones and my gallbladder was about to rupture. The surgeon told me that they had operated just in time. I’ve have never felt more ill as I did back then. The pain was far worse than childbirth. The good news is that was ten years ago and I’ve had no problems since my gallbladder was removed.

randomkey123 · 30/05/2021 11:42

I'm so glad he's getting treatment, OP.

I had cholecystitis (gall bladder infection) and it took me completely over the edge of my pain threshold. I was in hospital for well over a week as it didn't respond to antibiotics. I also had the awful pain in my shoulder and constantly being sick. Hope he's feeling much better soon.

MrsMaizel · 30/05/2021 11:48

Gall bladder pain is the worst ever . Had mine removed . In an attack a very strong prescription painkiller is needed .

HeronLanyon · 30/05/2021 11:55

Good luck to your dh. Support for you. And happy birthday for tomorrow. What a few days you’ve had !
Hope the surgery goes well.

AntiSocialDistancer · 30/05/2021 11:56

Gosh OP.

Wishing him all the best, he sounds like a great sport and whilst you had a miserable time I hope your girls enjoyed the holiday he was so valiantly insisting they had!

FuckingFabulous · 30/05/2021 12:03

I know it's really scary, but one of my friends went like this when she needed her gallbladder removed. From grumbly pain to constant sickness, throwing up yellow bile, lethargy, weight loss, horrendous pain, and all culminating in an emergency op. Something to do with some "sludge" and a massive infection. She was convinced she was dying.

Thank you for clearing up your previously inaccurate description of where the bile duct actually empties into. Smile

ChicChaos · 30/05/2021 12:05

My DH had gall bladder issues and it is so painful. Could be a stone blocking the bile duct, he was put on a super low-fat diet and managed to have about a month without infections so he could have his removed by keyhole surgery. I'm glad your DH is due for surgery shortly and hope it sorts the problem as well as it did for my DH.

frustratedwiththepandemic · 30/05/2021 12:05

All the best OP Thanks

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 30/05/2021 12:08

Thinking of you OP Thanks

ghostmouse · 30/05/2021 12:14

Ct results back.

Hes got a liver infection but the gall bladder seems ok
Its possible the liver infection followed the gall bladder infection which settled and left him with an infected liver

They are running further tests now. Dont know what will happen now

Hopefully the surgery will make all the difference. I had gallbladder issues and ended up having mine out, what should have been a nice keyhole procedure ended up being an open surgery and I felt like shit for a week or two but omg it was so worth it. The pain from the gallbladder was like nothing I'd ever had before. One day my DH came downstairs to a note saying I'd gone to A and E fir morphine (I don't do any tablets normally)

Cocolapew · 30/05/2021 12:16

I'm glad your DHis being treated now.
I thought I had gallbladder pain yesterday and just took myself off to A&E. It turned out to be a pulmonary embolism so it's good I went.
Good luck to your DHFlowers

notapizzaeater · 30/05/2021 12:17

Just read your update, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon and he starts feeling better.

Cocolapew · 30/05/2021 12:18

Oh xpost. Hopefully the infection can be easily treated, your poor DH he must have felt awful!

HappySonHappyMum · 30/05/2021 12:20

If he does have his gallbladder removed - take him a hot water bottle. When I had mine out the pain I felt after was mostly in my shoulder and the heat really helped. I hope he feels better soon - I felt like a new person when they took mine away!

If it helps my BIL with ghe liver abcess from a gall bladder blockage was back at work in a couple of weeks, though still on antibiotics, so fingers crossed.

Wow! Hope you are OK now, @Cocolapew
Cowbells · 30/05/2021 20:17

@ghostmouse - glad to hear he is being looked after. I had liver infection due to gall bladder blockage and felt pretty rough for a while after wards - very low energy.
