Holiday was moved from last year to this year and now I'm here im having a shit time.

Dp is ill, sudden gall bladder trouble and in pain and indigestion all the time. 3 strong lots of antibiotics and he's no better, tired all the time, lost weight as he can't keep much down.

I'm upset because I hate seeing him from going from a fit and active man to one who is sleeping a lot. The kids dds 9 and 11 know there's something wrong but they don't know what. Theres talk of ultrasounds and ct scans..I'm convinced he has cancer.

We shouldn't have come but dp wanted to. I'm going to the very limited shows with the kids but most of it is prebooked the whole atmosphere just isn't the same..just not the same.

I could cry (no judging) just going to drink a large glass of wine instead

Shehasadiamond

We already are home and dp is currently in hospital awaiting test results.

Thank you Blinking for your reassuring words, its the not knowing thats so hard. I just read so many horror stories about the worst scenario and I found out my dad had terminal cancer on my 30th birthday and I think to myself here we go again.
With the acid reflux, he gets this awful taste in his mouth and he does nothing but burp which hurts he says.

Then he feels sick, is sick, feels a little better until the next time. Then he gets the gall bladder pain which isn't severe as what it has been bur its always there in the back ground.

His gall bladder pain was manageable before we went just twingy but it was his stomach pain and sickness that got much worse on holiday. His gp said he was fine to go and the antibiotics would sort him out. Not so

The last day we were there dp really went downhill and it was then I insisted we pack up and leave. He was all for staying!

It could be pancreatitis ....it’s not just alcoholics that get it....it’s also a complication from gall stones.....it’s very painful and makes you very sick.....but it is treatable

I dunno where in North Wales you are but I would suggest looking for a different gp. I had gallbladder pain a couple of years ago, my gp ordered bloods and referred me to ysbyty gwynedd straight away. I had the gallbladder out within 6 months. It sounds like your GP is useless. Good luck to you both.

Jumpingintosummer · 30/05/2021 08:18

This was how my gallbladder ended up out. A&E were horrified at the state of me, lost 3st, anaemia, chronic pain and doctor said possibly IBS. A&e doc followed up and out as emergency.

Sugarcube84 · 30/05/2021 08:19

@ghostmouse

We will

The gallstone pain comes and goes. He get pain in his shoulder and back as well as his side when an attack is coming. Its the indigestion and the pain just under his ribs in the middle thats getting him down. Its so tender and hurts when he walks and then he burps a lot.

He isn't sleeping either :(
Weve decided to

Not to mention the antibiotics upsetting his stomach so he feels sick and is in the loo a lot

Weve decided to go home a day early. Its a 4 hour drive (I drove here) so I will drive home again.

If I had my way I'd go home tomorrow

I had these symptoms when pregnant but they came on suddenly I went to hospital where they eventually (another story) scanned me and found gallstones and started treating me for cholecystisis. My pain was is the middle under my ribs, so tender I couldn’t have worn a bra and all across my back things that work for me when I get an attack are anti sickness tablets, essential to make sure you keep meds down, buscopan, cocodamol and omneprazole.

As others have said go to a&e if it flares up they might pop him on a drip which coukd cslm everything down better than orally.

I hope he gets the results and more info today,. He's in the right place now.

And happy birthday, go get a choc cake from the supermarket.

FelicityPike · 30/05/2021 08:25

I hope he gets on ok. At least he’s in hospital now.

Frazzled2207 · 30/05/2021 08:27

Cherrydown · 30/05/2021 08:33

TheVanguardSix · 30/05/2021 08:40

I really hope you get answers OP. Sounds like it could be the pancreas. Push hard for definitive answers. Flowers

mrsbyers · 30/05/2021 08:41

Happy Birthday / glad you are home and DP is getting treatment

Ambo21 · 30/05/2021 08:43

Suggest you write down the whole saga, with as much detail as you can, dates, names etc... this gp (like many over the past 16 months) needs ass kicked. They have hidden behind covid like a wall.. unreachable, untouchable.. while the rest of the nhs... and I include cleaners and catering staff.. everyone.. have struggled on, giving their best ( sometimes their lives) throughout the pandemic... The gps ditter about, trying this and that, they are jack of all trades, NOT specialists.. and so many of them seem to try to palm people off instead of referring them on to medics who actually KNOW what they are doing..
Sorry..rant over...
Glad to hear your husband is in hospital and getting the care attention he so obviously needs. I hope you get good news soon and he recovers well.

Ambo21 · 30/05/2021 08:44

...and Happy Birthday... I am sure good news will be the best present you could wish for right now..

trevthecat · 30/05/2021 08:45

Happy birthday. Hope your dh gets some answers soon.

ImAncient · 30/05/2021 08:45

Happy birthday OP.

BIL had gallstones a couple of years ago & was in acute pain. Eventually a really bad attack ended with him in hospital having emergency surgery. He’d lost loads of weight too. Your Dh is in the right place. Flowers

Unsure33 · 30/05/2021 08:45

Hope you get sorted . A friend of mine just had similar symptoms and turned out he had gallstones and an infection and kidney infection and ulcer . He was kept in hospital and had an operation by keyhole and us fine now. He should have pushed the doctors harder in hindsight but going to a and e was the only way he got sorted.

HighlandCowbag · 30/05/2021 08:51

Hope you get some answers soon, it's awful. My dh struggled for years with stomach issues. Finally ended in an emergency situation which was resolved but he was very ill by the time it got to that. Dh is stoic too, literally dying with manflu but ignores serious stuff.

Hopefully it will be something resolvable and all will be well.

extravirginoliveoil · 30/05/2021 08:53

Thinking of you OP. I hope you get some answers today.

I’ve had gallstones and gallbladder removal myself. Awful.

FAQs · 30/05/2021 08:54

I hope you finally get some answers this weekend @ghostmouse

MinnieJackson · 30/05/2021 08:54

Just wanted to say I'm really glad your husband's in hospital now OP. I had my gallbladder out when I was 24, I was pregnant when I was diagnosed and was on really strong painkillers throughout. I was on a no fat diet too but by the end i couldn't manage any food and lost 35lbs. My blood tests were crazy as well because I got a blocked bile duct so had emergency surgery. I turned yellow and the only way I got any relief was being sick. I really hope he gets sorted Flowers

WaterBottle123 · 30/05/2021 08:55

I'm so sorry you've been so badly treated by your GP OP.

Sending best wishes for your DH.

Makinganewthinghappen · 30/05/2021 08:56

I hope your DH gets news soon OP

Budapestdreams · 30/05/2021 08:59

Well done OP for getting him seen. You're doing a better job than his GP. Hoping it's just gall stones and they can remove his gall bladder asap.
