After watching a documentary about dangerous wild animal licenses in the uk I came across this www.bornfree.org.uk/dwamap thought others might be interested it shows in every council in the uk what wild animas are living in peoples homes that have licenses Cornwall from my browsing seems to have rediculous amounts of big cats I’m guessing from private zoos thought others unable to sleep might be interested. Gary Kemp did a programme featuring exotic animals kept by private individuals - Britain’s Tiger Kings

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/05/2021 07:13

There were Rhea birds running amuck on a Hertfordshire housing estate near me just a few weeks ago.

Would the animals in there include those kept in zoos? I'm wondering why there are so many listed in my area- but we live next to a massive zoo!

bloodywhitecat · 26/05/2021 07:16

Just a couple of servals

I said above I wondered if it included private zoos and my area (with a private zoo) has a few and I also checked Midlothian where Edinburgh Zoo is and it said zero - but Edinburgh is a charity rather than private, so wouldn't be included in this I don't think
Poorlykitten · 26/05/2021 07:19

None in the North, or very few. North/South divide? 😂

Ostryga · 26/05/2021 07:20

@QOD

Oh my god 😂 I live very close to a wild life park so ya know, slight concern about escapees over the years … wild dogs did escape the zoo some years back and got shot. And now I find out someone has a pet CROCODILE 🐊? Wtaf …
In Gloucester, they have 4 king cobra, 10 other venomous snakes and a aligtor all under one local authority
Oldraver · 26/05/2021 07:22

Does it include just private addresses ? I thought by the animals on there that it might include the local wildlife park and the crocodile place

There are 7 tigers 7 lions 6 leopards and I know the wildlife park doesn't have that many

@HollyBollyBooBoo

105 Bison and 1 camel near us!
@HollyBollyBooBoo I hope you live near a prairie - Wtf is a private owner doing with 105 bison? ConfusedAlso do you think the camel keeps them company or in on his lonesome?
Oldraver · 26/05/2021 07:24

Oh sorry just seen the page says kept privately

I mean where the fuck do you keep 7 kangaroos or 10 camels

bloodywhitecat · 26/05/2021 07:24

It's a large, venomous lizard with the attitude to match.
Kentuki · 26/05/2021 07:25

I’m intrigued by 2 camels in Enfield.

Yep one here as well, are you in Oxfordshire

2 bloody cobras

Littlebelina · 26/05/2021 07:25

For wildlife parks I think it probably depends on how they are set up judging by the lists (our local ones aren't featured). Suspect it includes private businesses though not just pets

Thecrisplover · 26/05/2021 07:26

In Essex there's a load of snakes living at the seaside. Very odd, who knew snakes like the seaside....

Poorlykitten · 26/05/2021 07:29

@Thecrisplover What does an exhibitionist snake wear to the seaside?
A pythong.

LunaNorth · 26/05/2021 07:29

This thread is ace, thanks OP!

We have 6 capuchin monkeys in our area. I’m a bit jealous.

Upupupintheair · 26/05/2021 07:33

168 ostriches in my area

@oldraver Oxfordshire? I think it’s just private places. Cotswold wildlife park isn’t on there, or the crocodile park, those wild cats are from this place:

www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/17326139.dangerous-animals-oxfordshire-including-heythrop-zoo/

Mogloveseggs · 26/05/2021 07:34

Nothing round here but had a nosy at others and I wouldn't class a dikdik as dangerous? They're those tiny deer aren't they?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 26/05/2021 07:36

Not sure how accurate the map is, there’s a snakes and spiders place near us that have a crocodile resident and I know he’s sold variants of the species. Fucking crazy.
