I think my Husband is dying

Hi

DH had a planned surgery on Thursday which went wrong; he had a catastrophic bleed which lead to his chest being opened and a long time to stabilise. He's on full life support but they are very, very concerned that he has few signs of brain activity.

He's in a good hospital with an amazing team around him, we didn't expect him to last over Thursday night and they've kept him going but I am slowly realising that I think he's gone.

Fuck. What do I do without him? We have an 11 yo DD who is awesome and friends but I feel so alone. So much panic.

Sorry for unloading, just feels incredibly surreal.

I’m very sorry, Dolly. That sounds horrifically hard, but also surreal given how sudden and unexpected it all was.

Wishing you and your husband the very best. I hope you get good news soon.

Tal45 · 25/05/2021 20:21

You sound awesome too. I'm so sorry you and DD are having to go through this x

SunbathingDragon · 25/05/2021 20:21

I’m so sorry. Flowers

The medical team think there is a chance. They wouldn’t keep him in intensive care otherwise.

Gosh, I'm so so sorry for you and your dd. You must be so shocked. Lean on as many people as possible and ask for help, lifts, food, anything that allows you some headspace. I hope he improves soon. X

Op I’m so so sorry you’re going through this, what a shock for your whole family! I too have spent days watching a loved one in ICU, we were given a blank book/diary to write in. It was so helpful both at the time and afterwards. Just to record anything really, who popped in, what they said, a little story maybe. We would write things for my love one, how we were all rooting for him. It really helped us, I think the ICU team may be able to provide you with one? Or I’d love to send you one if you would be happy to pm me your address 💐💐 wishing you every strength
