Weird injuries from food

Last night I stabbed the roof of my mouth with a Dorito. It was bleeding for a good while and is still bloody sore this morning when I eat anything! Has anyone ever done that before? It's my first time being injured by a crisp 😂

What weird food injuries have you had?

Took all the skin off the inside of my mouth after eating a whole bag of Co-op Chardonnay vinegar crisps.

I've made my tongue bleed with a giant Double Lolly. More than once.

I cut myself on a particularly crusty baguette the other day. Not on the knife, but on the actual crust.

A massive gash on my thumb from a frozen crumpet.

I caught got the crust from a tiger loaf just under a fingernail

My tongue piercing of 25 years suddenly became infected, my tongue swelled up and I had green gunk oozing from the site. I rather reluctantly took the piercing out knowing I'd never get it back in by the time the infection healed. A few days after starting the antibiotics I could feel something sharp in my tongue..... so I went at it with tweezers and pulled out a bit of popcorn skin (the hard stuff) from where my piercing had been - I'd eaten popcorn the night before my piercing had become infected.

Once had a double whammy - a sharp crumb of the crust of a tiger loaf went under my nail and stabbed me, I then used that nail to open a satsuma and the juice went in where it was already tender. Ouch! Just seeing the words tiger loaf has made me want some right now though so I clearly haven't learned.

Cut the roof of my mouth on a sherbet lemon

Burnt the roof of my mouth more times than I care to remember by insisting on eating pizza straight out of the oven. Weirdly satisfying popping the blisters...

Years ago when I was at school there was randomly a massive craze on sherbet straws and I must have always tipped the straw onto the same place on my tongue as after a while I ended up with a smooth spot on my tongue! Guess from the acid? Didn’t take long to go back to normal once the craze for the straws died down.

I enthusiastically bit into a jam doughnut that I didn’t realise had been warmed in a microwave. Scalding lava-like jam seared a trail down my chin. The scar is still faintly there, thirty years on.

I came very close to death recently from eating a marshmallow Hmm. It got fully lodged in my throat, Heimlich didn't work, I stopped breathing and an ambulance was called. No marshmallow will ever pass my lips again!

This has happened a few times but injuring my thumb by peeling tangerines- separating the thumb nail from the nail bed slightly then getting stung by the juice. DH reckons it's a lie!!

Got a prawn shell stuck in the back of my throat, couldn’t breathe, had to go to a & e to get it hoiked out with a giant pair of tweezers. Grim!

Cracked my tooth on a hard piece of popcorn. Luckily I only needed a small filling. I haven't eaten popcorn since. Evil stuff!

My god food is so dangerous!! I can't get over the burned eyeball!! I remembered that when I was little I burned my lips really badly on a jam tart. My gran had taken them out of the oven and left them to cook and given me strict instructions not to touch them, but because I was a greedy little sod I took one and took a bite out of it. The jam was so hot and stick to my lips. I had massive blisters all over my top lip for weeks. I remember screaming the house down!!
