Haha No, strictly the iced Belgian kind. No bunnies were harmed. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/06/2021 21:00

They dropped the restrictions for vaccinations, so I managed to book one for DD.
There is no chocolate in this house (DH wants to lose weight) - but on a happier note my borrages, nasturtiums and hollyocks (?) (Malve or Käsepappel) are in bloom.

Silkiecats · 23/06/2021 21:01

DH has brought the rabbit snack pack in but wabbit is sitting with DS on the sofa as DS has Chinese and wabbit feels spare ribs and chips would be an excellent snack for him. DS normally has to hide his food but wabbit is greedy and will try to bite the other end of food when in DS's mouth. So I often see DS running round the house with food trying to escape rabbit's clutches.

Good evening all.

I was WFH today and had a panic when my colleague messaged early to say our mutual colleague who was on rota to be on site was isolating due to her daughter’s new COVID symptoms. We sorted out alternative cover thankfully. When we caught up later we laughed as we had both panicked: she was still in bed and I was eating my breakfast in my pyjamas and neither of us were ready to go in.

I have learned the Sodding has not gone off wet food altogether. He will eat salmon fillet (don’t ask) and left over chicken, just not wet cat food. 🙄

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/06/2021 21:42

I would not eat wet cat food either if I could get salmon fillet.

soddingkitten · 23/06/2021 21:50

You were so close Prok. Hollyhocks. 😄

I want an orange Twirl now. And mint Matchmakers.

soddingkitten · 23/06/2021 22:00

I had to laugh at Sodding earlier this week. I heard him coming through the house doing his ‘hunter’s herald’, a special chittering miaow to announce that he had caught something he wanted to show us. I leapt out my chair to intercept him before he went upstairs to find him carrying…….

An empty paper muffin wrapper. 😂 Easier to trap than the sparrows and mice and no hard decisions required about viability or euthanasia. DS1 and I had a bloody good laugh. We don’t think he’d eaten the muffin, though it is not impossible. Nothing is off limits for this cat. 🙄

They test the tornado warning system here at 10am on the first Tuesday of every month. I'm guessing this time and day were recommended by actuaries or statisticians.

We had a storm a couple of nights ago that generated a tornado about 20 miles to the southwest of where I am. We just got heavy rain, dramatic lightning and a continuous thunder. However, the tornado sirens went off as soon as the tornado was identified. DD4 and I were up watching the weather reports which had interrupted the programme we had been watching, and we debated whether to take cover in the basement. DD4 didn't want to go downstairs as she is more terrified of bugs than tornados. I was pretty sure we were safe in the apartment (based on no meteorological expertise whatsoever) so we sat up watching the weather until midnight.

We're having oven baked BBQ chicken tonight thanks to cool temps today.

mathanxiety · 23/06/2021 22:04
  • Also, DD3 had already gone to bed and we thought it would be silly to wake her.
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/06/2021 22:10

sodding Hollyhocks Grin much nicer than Käsepappel 'cheesepoplar'

Silkiecats · 24/06/2021 00:16

Very glad to hear no bunnies were harmed Squirrel, I won't let the Silkies know people are eating chicken. Grin

Silkiecat has always been very fussy on food until she got dementia and forgot to be fussy. Wabbit has always been on a see food diet, infact a see anything and eat it diet. If you walk in with food he tries to block you and also stands on his back paws with his front curled up with big bunny eyes and floppy ears.

DH is with me.

Frownette · 24/06/2021 03:52

I've never had a wabbit so I don't know their little ways.

It was so nice to see a friend earlier, he called and I said oh just come round. He knows how crochety I get I'm perimonipausal and feel annoyed most of the time Grin

He brought me some food and the book 1984 and a wooden spoon to wallop anyone with if they annoy me. Speaking about that there is a spider parked up on my towel over the radiator. I thought about getting my specs on and investigating but decided I couldn't be bothered. We're just going to have to live together.

Frownette · 24/06/2021 04:17

I can't believe the audacity of that spider. It is actually parked on my childhood primary school towel which has my nametag sewn into it. That's very clear, it's Frownette, not Mister Spider

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/06/2021 06:27

Spiders are very bad at reading. DDs favourite spider never goes near her books.

Very mild rain here.

Silkiecats · 24/06/2021 08:19

DH said wabbit had lots of fun last night with his snack bucket and distributed all the contents around the living room. I heard DH say wabbit, who made the living room look like this? Easter Hmm

Currently spider free but DD screams every time she sees a spider and says there was a 2 inch one outside my door yesterday but luckily it has stayed there.

Frownette · 24/06/2021 11:20

The thing is still on my towel. I could put my specs on and see if it really is a spider and not dropped mascara but I don't really feel up to chasing spiders. We're just going to have to cohabit.

Presents my friend dropped around yesterday were 1984 book which I only read once years ago and a wooden spoon because he knew I was upset at losing mine from my grandma. I quite like having a long wooden spoon to brandish at any villains. Not the spider, I'm learning to live with it.

My friend said yesterday that I still had my price tag on my new bra. He said "you didn't pay £80 for this??" and I said of course not, I am very good at getting silk bras for a fraction of retail and taking them back to my lair.

Squirrel26 · 24/06/2021 12:09

I am in a meeting with a load of people who appear never to have used Teams before. Or, in fact, a computer.

SimonJT · 24/06/2021 12:21

I’m trying a new miele laundry detergent (different scent), I don’t actually have any washing that needs doing (the cleaner does most of it, it isn’t me being organised). I’m rewashing some t-shirts so I can smell said laundry liquid on clothes.

23 year old me would be horrified by 33 year old me.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/06/2021 12:24

simon I bought two Emma Bridgewater mugs in our local department store yesterday. The assistant commented how lovely they were, all I could think was that 18yo me would be horrified at paying £40 for 2 mugs Grin

MissConductUS · 24/06/2021 15:46

Simon, I think we all eventually become our mothers. Smile I hope you had a nice Father's Day.

Champagne, I had to google Emma Bridgestone pottery. They have some lovely things on Amazon.

I'm having a mandarin orange for my mid-morning snack. It's good, bordering on really good.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/06/2021 17:10

I'm so glad miss, I'm a big fan of little oranges of all types but they are something of a lottery Grin

My ham in coke is on the hob and we are about to get the Christmas twig from the loft. I also have a Christmas room spray which is helping a little.

DM is late, doubtless this will be the fault of somebody else completely. DH is waiting at the station for her and DS is having a driving lesson. I am enjoying the peace while it lasts (I hate hosting Hmm)

Sunbird24 · 24/06/2021 21:04

Today’s treat of choice was a Tunnock’s caramel wafer. Or two. I did have a salad at lunch though.

Silkiecats · 24/06/2021 21:25

Silkiecat sounded quite distressed and could hear DH talking to her so thought that is odd. DD went down to see the issue and reported back that Silkiecat had just finished her tin of tuna and had reached the bottom. Easter Sad

Silkiecats · 24/06/2021 21:43

Silkiecat is mad with DH as he won't give her a second tin of tuna and she has jumped on his piano is playing the loud, angry type notes with her feet and howling at him. He is being most unreasonable. When the vet said to put Silkiecat on a renal diet he didn't also add and limit my tuna at dinner time to 1 tin.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/06/2021 21:46

How I feel when I reach the bottom of the biscuit tin - but i do not wail, i suffer in silence - almost.
