I had a nice visit with DH in hospital and am back home waiting for his discharge to get approved. Dining redeemed themselves after last night's sorry dinner with freshly scrambled eggs and French toast this morning. He's doing better today, had some PT and OT, and is really itching to get home.

I've had frantic messages from work summoning me to a Zoom meeting I told them I was going to miss today. I've jumped on from home as I'm not busy at the moment but it's still really annoying.

I went for a doctor's appointment, and had a big pee before I left, forgetting that I'd have to give a urine sample when I arrived.

I then had to ask the reception staff for a bottle of water and it took me another half an hour to provide the sample #bitembarrassing

Champagneforeveryone · 18/05/2021 20:31

DS passed his theory test

The next crisis problem is there are no driving test slots available. Zero. Not one. At all. Covid has a lot to answer for Hmm

Squirrel26 · 18/05/2021 21:11

Had a text from 'NatWest' about a new payment being set up on my account. Which is fine by me, because I don't have a NatWest account so they are welcome to all the money I don't have in it.

There's a cat outside. The dog is VERY affronted.

MissConductUS · 18/05/2021 21:29

You've been mistaken for a Yank. Natwest is an American bank.

Am at the hospital waiting for the bloody discharge papers.

Resurfaced after a bout of migraine (after a warm day it turned cold and windy again and my brain decided to go on strike).

There is a rumour that museums will reopen at pentecost (Pfingsten)... and that DH will be able to go away for work next week and at the same time see his DM in her care home.

miss Great your DH is on the mend. Waiting to be processed at hospital is incredibly boring.

Frownette · 18/05/2021 23:24

That must be irritating MissC getting pestered by work when you have other things on. Hope DH home soon.

Prok I think our museums are open again now - the whole stop start nature of all this has been very confusing.

Helena weather is so strange at the moment, it seems to alternate between rain and sunshine!

Good morning.

Checking in with thanks to @Silkiecats for the tag to finish the last thread and with a double box double cat picture.

I'm sorry to hear that your DH is unwell @MissConductUS. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Congratulations to the SmallSilkies and SmallChampagne.

Glad to hear that Spuddog is felling better and that your migraine has abated Prok.

I have my first jab this afternoon. My age group became eligible last week and I got DH to book it for me as I was at work. He was unable to book his and it transpires that it's because he is not registered with a GP.

When we moved to this town 7 years ago, I registered both the DC and myself at a new GP but they inisist on adults registering themselves with photo ID. I've brought the registration forms home to DH several times over the years but he could never be bothered to do it or go up there (in our old house it was at the top of the street, in this one it's a 3 minute drive).

Upon realising that this was stopping him getting his jab, he rang our old surgery who told him that he had been removed from the books and no, he couldn't re-register, he needed to go to one in our town. So now he's waiting for the registration to process (can take up to six weeks apparently).

I have not said 'I told you so'. I feel that I've been very restrained.

Champagneforeveryone · 19/05/2021 09:06

Very restrained rhubarb

Did he have an utterly perplexed look on his face when this came to light? DH is a master at this, as if the simple act of owning a penis should facilitate these things.

Silkiecats · 19/05/2021 12:12

Glad you got your jab Rhubarb I've just moved my second one forward to 8 weeks, still sticking to same place as I can go to lido whilst there.

My DH was amusing at the weekend, I always book things for kids, holidays, days out and some of his stuff but he had booked the safari park. He said to me what code did you use when you booked it? I said you booked it. He said that's not possible that I booked something, I don't believe you. And we had 5 minutes of yes you did, no I can't have its not possible for me to book things before he tried and he had booked it.

Booking cattery, rabbittery and chickenry for summer, just sorting forms, payments and vaccinations and booked another couple of places for summer holidays.

DS has another haircut tonight and need to sort chickens. I have chased up chicken swing as that has gone missing, post is dire here though.

Squirrel26 · 19/05/2021 12:39

I’m quite excited that a chicken swing is a thing, and that chickens (presumably) enjoy swinging.

Silkiecats · 19/05/2021 13:29

This silkie seems to like it though I am guessing ours will just look at it.

Silkiecats · 19/05/2021 13:35

I have been invited to a seminar on developments in ARC welding which apparently includes "hot topics" like welding standards and is open to everyone. Not really sure why I have been sent this fascinating as welding standards sound.

MissConductUS · 19/05/2021 13:55

@RhubarbFairy, excellent double box cat photo, and thanks for closing the last thread. Men often have a strange reluctance about obtaining medical care. It's as if they think they cannot get ill if there's no one to tell them that they are ill. But up to six weeks to register for a GP sounds a bit too much.

DH got settled alright last night. This might be a bit too exciting but DS set off the smoke alarm last night making pizza. He was making a "stuffed crust" pizza, where the edge of the dough is rolled over some cheese before baking. Some of the cheese apparently escaped and dripped down onto the floor of the extremely hot oven where it immediately burned. So all of the windows had to be opened, but it didn't take too long to air out the house. At least we know the smoke alarms work.

I had to get up once with DH overnight to help him to the bathroom and get some acetaminophen and water for him. He was fast asleep when I left as was DS. I opened all the sliding glass doors this morning to let the cool air into the house, as it's supposed to get rather hot today and we're without AC until Friday at the earliest. DH will start daily physical therapy today or possibly tomorrow.

I had to put my rubbish out this morning and the back gate bolt stuck when I was trying to open it. Managed to open it though and put the rubbish in the correct wheelies. Then bolted the gate again but not so tight.

Mildmanneredmum · 19/05/2021 14:34

Spectacularly dull and boring!

theDudesmummy · 19/05/2021 14:38

DS has decided that his adult sister (only sees her online atm, she lives in another country), and his little friend from online dance class, should meet each other, so he has arranged a Zoom meeting with both of them. The little girl's mum is fine with it and so is his sister. It's on Saturday.

MissConductUS · 19/05/2021 14:50

Welcome, @Mildmanneredmum, and thanks for sharing your rubbish news. My DH is normally charged with bin placement and retrieval but I've had to take that over now.

I watched the fifth and final episode of My Mother and Other Strangers last night. What a lovely drama and love story. It's a shame they only made five episodes and it ended with things unresolved.

That's really charming Dudes, and a lovely thing for your DS to have done.

HelenaJustina · 19/05/2021 15:14

@RhubarbFairy snap! Had my jab at 3.02pm!

Squirrel26 · 19/05/2021 15:26

That’s sweet, @theDudesmummy.

I love a swing. I’d like a swing seat in the garden, but I need to get rid of the conservatory first.

I would have thought welding was a practical topic not ideally suited to a seminar, but then again I don’t know anything about it.

RhubarbFairy · 19/05/2021 15:43

@HelenaJustina, mine was done at 2.55 so at 3.02 I was still sat in the marquee for my mandated 15 minutes.

I have already mansed to lose the blue card they gave me. I slipped it inside my book so imagine that its lying sodden on the pavement between the surgery and where my car was parked.

RhubarbFairy · 19/05/2021 15:44

Managed! Not sure what mansed is!

Sunbird24 · 19/05/2021 18:48

I used the word ‘truncated’ in an email at work today. I’m not sure anyone properly appreciated it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/05/2021 18:48

DH's work event is cancelled and consequently he cannot visit his DM. Shit!
Work mates are printing out their info and agreement papers, I am still waiting for my appointment.

It is sunny and slightly warmer!
