Welcome, @HappyStep1, and thanks for sharing your DP and toothpaste news. That would make me a bit cross if there wasn't an extra tube in the house.

I'm getting on the stationary bike now for a bit, then going to the warehouse club later.

Thanks @MissConductUS
There was no spare tube, had to go to the shop with a nasty mouth (sometimes masks are good!)

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 18/05/2021 11:10

I hate running out of things. I have a one in use, one spare and the emergency back up. My partner ignores my system and expects things to replenish themselves, and will happily use the last of something and expects the toiletry fairy to replace. Nope, I now keep the replacement hidden and only replenish my own stuff so when I notice that he is low on something, I put mine where he can't get it. It's petty but I am no toiletry fairy.

Spudlet · 18/05/2021 11:43

I just collected some more lateral flow tests. The lady in the pharmacy explained to do them twice a week and report the results online, and I jokingly said ‘Yep, if it works of course!’

I meant the reporting website but now I am worried she thought I meant the test. I was a bit socially awkward before we all had to start wearing masks and got out of practice at talking to people, now I feel I shouldn’t be let out alone BlushGrin

Silkiecats · 18/05/2021 11:48

DH went to work but just drove there and drove back as he forgot his pass. Silkiecat thinks he is a good boy today. And he has also made it sunny.

Squirrel26 · 18/05/2021 11:51

There is all manner of purple cabling hanging from the ceiling of the corridor at work. And a man up a ladder. No high vis.

Silkiecats · 18/05/2021 12:12

Got e-mail from DDs very proud maths teacher saying she's been invited to UK Maths summer school for top students and he says only 120 has been invited and he said its another incredible achievement for her.

Frownette · 18/05/2021 12:15

@Spudlet I do that sort of thing all the time Grin

You must be so proud Silkie, that's amazing!

MissConductUS · 18/05/2021 14:01

Well done to your DD Silkie!

I've had a talk and some texts with DH. He's pretty miserable. The nurse woke him up every two hours to check his vitals. I did warn him that this was likely. I'm going to visit him this morning. I'll do a shop first as visiting hours don't start until later.

I'm fortunate in the DH manages the stockpiles of household goods. Since we get most of them at the warehouse club they come in multipacks. We have shelves in the garage where we store the stockpiles. My MIL once remarked that it was like a small grocery store out there.

I'm quite enjoying My Mother and Other Strangers, even though I have to relisten to the dialog frequently to understand what they're saying. My Irish genes apparently carry no advantage for this. I was a bit surprised about the amount of hostility about the American airbase, given that it was in Northern Ireland, so I've done a bit of research about Ireland's role in WWII, which has been both interesting and educational.

@Squirrel26, the purple cables are probably for computer network connections.

Congratulations youngsilkie Smile

DS has his driving theory test tonight. He is sanguine as ever, but he really needs to pass so that he can get on with booking his actual test. He's never actually failed anything before so this could be a rude shock for him Hmm

Silkiecats · 18/05/2021 14:07

Thanks Frownette and MissC

Hope your DH is home soon MissC

SnoozyBoozy · 18/05/2021 14:08

Dropped DS off at school this morning's d there were 3 men on the school (flat!) roof and about 4 footballs, 3 tennis balls and a pink doll.

It seemed a bit extreme to send 3 of them up there for that...

Silkiecats · 18/05/2021 14:09

Thanks Champagne cross posted there.

SnoozyBoozy · 18/05/2021 14:09

(just to clarify, in case anyone was sitting on the edge of their seats, the balls and doll had been retrieved from the roof and were at this point in the playground)

Spudlet · 18/05/2021 14:21

Well done, SmallSilkie!

Fingers crossed for your ds @Champagneforeveryone, although at least if he does fail it, it may perhaps be a salutary lesson?

Sorry to hear your DH is feeling a bit pants @MissConductUS - it’s so hard to rest properly in hospital. Hope he’s home soon so he can get some proper sleep. I would be rabid after be woken throughout the night, tbh Blush

Wobblydog actually showed an interest in accompanying DH on his lunchtime walk just now. He hasn’t wanted to go at all the last few days, so this is an improvement. He’s still too wobbly for yomping, but we may try an experimental stroll to the end of the track this evening. He is still veering off to the left a fair bit, but I think a bit of a change of air and a good sniff around would lift his spirits. He wears a harness anyway so we can give him lots of support if he needs it.

Frownette · 18/05/2021 14:25

Well I was, SnoozyBoozy, but luckily you have uprighted me before I had a chair accident and plummeted to the floor! ;)

I have an exam tomorrow and just contemplating whether to watch point break on prime.

MissConductUS · 18/05/2021 15:59

Welcome, @SnoozyBoozy, and thanks for your interesting school maintenance news. I think workmen often work in groups as otherwise there isn't enough work to go around.

I'm back from my shopping at the warehouse club and about to go see DH at the hospital.

Spud, I'm glad to hear Spuddog continues to improve. DH will feel better once he gets home and can get a proper meal and rest, I'm sure.

I might do something terribly unhealthy tonight and buy chips with curry sauce.

Champagneforeveryone · 18/05/2021 18:05

I'm sat in the car park of the theory test place, DS has just loped off with not so much as a quiver. We are in the little car so he can have a practice afterwards, so that's seriously good parenting Wink

I happened across another thread earlier today which had all become rather heated when I checked back. I feel quite unsettled and came back here for some peace and calm.

theDudesmummy · 18/05/2021 19:14

Marking place on the new thread, but can tell you that I had physio today and he gave me a stretchy band to use.

HelenaJustina · 18/05/2021 19:49

I didn’t get rained on today #winningatlife

Congratulations to @Silkiecats DD, that is an amazing achievement!

Am being vaccinated tomorrow (only not dull if you are already vaccinated!) despite being oldest in my family I’m not first to be vaccinated due to jobs of other siblings this irks me, I’m the oldest, I should be first at everything

theDudesmummy · 18/05/2021 19:56

I got my first vaccine within 6 days of registration. DH registered 8 days ago and hasn't got his appointment yet, he is a bit miffed.
