Today, as I was starting to make dinner, I realised two key ingredients were missing (looking at you, hello fresh!). It was very upsetting but I kept my composure and I made a different dinner.
I also had chamomile tea just before bed.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/05/2021 23:15

I finished ironing 10 linen shirts, as usual, they were too dry for an easy job.

moolady1977 · 20/05/2021 23:27

I'm laid listening to the wind with one ear and oh snoring with the other ear my very dull day also had me watching the classic soaps on TV

Champagneforeveryone · 21/05/2021 01:17

It is also windy here, but (probably due to the amount of rain we've had lately) no trees have fallen down yet.

We've run out of bread. None of our supermarkets have reverted to 24hr opening yet so DS has manfully offered to buy a sausage roll from the shop instead

I've changed my shift tomorrow and it's an excellent deal. It's one of those small wins in life that has left me feeling disproportionately pleased with myself Grin

Silkiecats · 21/05/2021 02:47

Silkiecat has just called for DH, its 2.44am and she needs a DH cuddle and her first breakfast. Like a dutiful servant he has gone down.

HelenaJustina · 21/05/2021 06:09

Windy days are well known for sending school children more doolally than wet-play ones.

I’m going to Mass this morning (with work).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/05/2021 06:12

DD's hot water bottle after 15 years of duty broke last night and soaked her bed at 4o'clock.
She is an adult and did not call me Smile

HelenaJustina · 21/05/2021 06:16

@Prokupatuscrakedatus that is a parenting win right there!

IWanderedLonely · 21/05/2021 07:37

Windy and rainy here too.
I need to remember to take my eternity ring to the jewellers to be repaired. The band has split. I have been meaning to do this since the shops re-opened.

soddingkitten · 21/05/2021 08:29

The weather is so awful here I took pity on my boys and drove them to school.

The storm has not deterred Sodding, who has already been home soaking wet and needed towel drying. He has odd habits for a cat.

Frownette · 21/05/2021 09:25

Weather here is bad too.

I'm going to have an unconventional breakfast of some ratatouille I defrosted yesterday, and rice.

Silkiecats · 21/05/2021 10:39

Silkiecat who is scared of the garden but will go out to sunbathe 1 metre from house if door is open, asked to go out but there is no sun and its windy so Silkiecat is staying in next to DH.

MissConductUS · 21/05/2021 14:34

Welcome, @moolady1977, and thanks for sharing your weather and TV watching mundane news. I have an ongoing saga here about my British TV viewing adventures and preferences. It's just part of my eccentric American charm. Grin

@MerryGoRoundBrain, I didn't know Hello Fresh operated in the UK. I use a competitor called Freshly that delivers fully cooked meals for my mum.

Speaking of weather, the crack team of HVAC professionals is at the house disassembling the AC in anticipation of the replacement parts arriving this morning. Temps are going to hit 33 degrees C for the next three days, so I really hope this all gets done today.

The mobile phone repair shop in town has in stock the replacement screen that DS's phone needs. So I will drive in to town tomorrow. While there I will buy some nice cheeses.

Squirrel26 · 21/05/2021 15:11

I woke up in the middle of the night last night and realised I could smell almonds. So I decided that this meant there must be someone in my room who was planning to kill me with cyanide.

Then I realised that a) there is no way a stranger would get into the house without the dog letting me know and b) I had cleaned the bedroom carpet just before bed because the dog threw up on it, and the ‘pet stains removal’ cleaning spray is almond scented.

I must have been right, because I’m still alive. Grin

Silkiecats · 21/05/2021 15:17

The mouse trap has caught 2 mice today, DH is puzzled as it caught nothing for a month and has now caught 3 in 24 hours. I have 2 theories 1 it now smells of mice, 2 its getting the mouse babies who aren't as streetwise but are now investigating. DH said he's concerned there may be a struggling single parent mouse now but he says the bin mice are happily munching away.

Booked orthodontist for DD and got 4 appointments. A hotel I booked for summer said to e-mail to book pool so I e-mailed. They replied phone. I phoned we don't have a booking system but we may get one on 21 June or we may not.

Spudlet · 21/05/2021 15:37

DH has had the day off today so we went for a long walk. In the rain. And the wind. With the 40-odd mph gusts. It was bracing.

Notthissticky · 21/05/2021 15:45

DS2 has just cut his first tooth, the poor child is only 16 weeks old! This is dull but a bit exciting too, as it's the only other thing he got from me, apart from his finger nails.

I want to sign DS1 up to Rugby Tots but they charge £30 for a compulsory welcome pack and you have to pay a term up front and I'm on maternity leave...

MissConductUS · 21/05/2021 16:23

Weclome, @Notthissticky, and thanks for sharing your neonate dental news. 16 weeks is quite early for teeth to start breaking through. 30 quid for a welcome pack sounds a bit steep. What does it include?

I've been keeping an eye on the Ring cameras at home. The HVAC blokes are making regular trips to their van for no reason that I can discern.

You can camp in my garden for free. Grin

To be honest I was so shocked I had to go back in and submit my details again, just in case I'd inadvertently clicked on the "gold plated bathroom" option.

It was supposed to be a couple of nights away so that DH and I could explore the coast path a little further afield than we can easily do in a day. We wouldn't actually be at the site at all aside from sleeping.

Spudlet · 21/05/2021 17:47

That’s terrible. Mind you, I just had a look at a site I used to stay at a few years ago and it’s now been taken over by the National Trust and is triple the price and then some. Doesn’t seem to have had any extra facilities added mind you Hmm
