Truthfully, how often do you change your bedsheets?

  1. When you were a child?
  2. As a university student (or equivalent) ?
  3. Now?

Any difference between being single/ sharing a bed with a partner?

Why do you ask?

PastelLampshade · 04/05/2021 19:01

Every week as a child (although I didn’t do this myself till age about 10).

When at uni, every week or so I think. Wink

Now, every bed gets changed once a week on the same day plus additional changes if someone has an accident in bed or throws up!

FizzyPink · 04/05/2021 19:02

No idea as a child but since I left home every Sunday. I absolutely love the feeling of having a shower on a Sunday evening, shaving, moisturising and putting on clean PJs and then getting into fresh sheets. One of life’s little luxuries

OneEpisode · 04/05/2021 19:04

Weekly. After FIL died MIL swaps sides on the double bed and changes the sheets fortnightly..

As a child - can't remember
The rest of my life - when I can be bothered

Rtmhwales · 04/05/2021 19:05

Every weekend, always I think?

@Sparklingbrook

Why do you ask?
Because I think I need a reality check.

I don't really remember as a kid, I think probably weekly (but it wasnt me that changed sheets) vaguely remember helping with pillow covers etc.

At uni, I feel like I was the unusual one changing sheets all the time (again, did it once a week as a novelty, suddenly living independently pretending to be a grown up), nobody else changed their sheets much at all.

Now that's me. In a LDR, only seem to change sheets after (sweaty) partner visits. If he hasnt been able to come round for a few weeks/month I won't change my sheets (I don't get sweaty.. unless at the gym/abroad etc never really in bed). Do people really change every week consistently?! Weekly for me when I've got my sh*t together, otherwise several weeks...

a) don't remember
b) fortnightly?
c) fortnightly, pillowcases weekly with towels

tigerbread20 · 04/05/2021 19:06

No idea as a child
Probably monthly as a teenager
Now fortnightly at most but I try and do weekly. We have a superking and I'm pregnant so need DHs help with the duvet Blush

modgepodge · 04/05/2021 19:07

No idea as a child. Now, fortnightly.

maddy68 · 04/05/2021 19:07

Once a week all my life

as141 · 04/05/2021 19:08

So weekly-fortnightly. I need to get more organised. Just seems like such a faff changing sheets, washing, finding the space to dry etc.

I'm ashamed to say it can sometimes be months! Blush

notacooldad · 04/05/2021 19:09

As a child _ no idea. I didn't do the bed sheets.
As a uni student. _ I never went to uni.
Now _ all my adult life the bedding gets done once a week, usually on Sundays minimum. Occasionally I will do them on Wednesdays.

Thank you for the honesty. I think there have been times when this has been me. Maybe about 2 months, I can't imagine it ever being 3, somewhere between 2-3 months I think.

Everyday because the baby keeps throwing up on it lol

luciles · 04/05/2021 19:10

Usually weekly

I only opened this thread to see what Sparkling would say Grin I know how much she loves these threads.

Does the whole process not take you a few days?

I strip the bedding one day, wash them the same day then hang up to dry which takes a couple of days at least so thats atleast 3 days

When they smell.

LemonViolet · 04/05/2021 19:13

Child? No idea but my mum is pretty house proud so probably same day each week in a strict routine.

Student? Probably monthly if that 🤢

Now? Every 7-10 days, I have odd shift patterns and long work days so do ‘big’ housework in one go when I have a day off. Although at the moment every 2-3 days sometimes as we have a tiny new puppy who can’t always hold her bladder overnight and we don’t always wake up in time to take her out (and yes, we are dogs in bed people, don’t care what you all think!)

FelicityBeedle · 04/05/2021 19:13

Between 2 weekly and monthly and sometimes more. I get into bed clean most nights, and properly air out the bed when I get up (nothing fancy, I tops the duvet right back over the high headboard and open the window), they never feel grim

doublenotdobble · 04/05/2021 19:14

Every two to three weeks I think, but I don't really keep track!

Bananalanacake · 04/05/2021 19:14

Well done Pancakes, bet you also wear clothes more than once before they go in the wash.
I wash my bedsheets once every 3 weeks, but I make DH think it's every 2.
