Champers did you really shave your head..? That's brave.

I've finally decided what to eat, vege sausages, colcannon and carrots/cabbage.

ItsNotLoveActually · 20/04/2021 20:10

I switched the heating down today. It's taken me 2 days of nice weather to do it.

Squirrel26 · 20/04/2021 20:15

I cannot wait until my fringe is back under control (Sunday!) I went to the gym this evening and it drove me nuts, flopping around while I tried to do burpees.

Flashnash1982 · 20/04/2021 20:20

Hello! Just about to start IVF - very excited. I wondered has anyone conceived after having the covid vaccine?

MissConductUS · 20/04/2021 20:45

I think we're having grilled cheese sandwiches on sourdough bread for dinner, with sharp white cheddar. DH does them on a non-stick griddle and they come out perfect every time.

DH just was in and offerend to add basil and pepper to my 'wickel' - I threw a cushion at him but missed by miles.

Sunbird24 · 20/04/2021 21:47

Work have thrown me a curveball - opportunity to work on a big project which would put me in a good position for promotion if I do it well, while they bring in someone more junior to cover the basic aspects of my job. There’s no extra pay or anything like that, it would just maybe give me a nudge up the ladder. There are pros and cons, so now my mind is racing, really need to write down questions as they pop into my head otherwise I’m not going to get to sleep...

RhubarbFairy · 20/04/2021 21:52

Ooh. That sounds interesting @Sunbird24. Writing down your questions sounds like a good plan.

Does it open up promotion opportunities or potential to broaden out or move sideways into a different type of role that does? Are you currently stuck where you are? If yes to either of these, I would take it (but I am not you). 🙂
Sunbird24 · 20/04/2021 22:09

It is related to the job I’m currently doing but much broader, with the scope to influence how my specific bit of the organisation is run going forwards. It probably would give me a wider range of jobs to promote into, as it’s not something I’ve got a lot of experience in at the moment, mostly because this stuff is usually done by people more senior! I’m probably doing myself down a bit though, my confidence is a little bit knocked with what’s been going on outside of work the last year!

On that note, @Flashnash1982 I did IVF last autumn and have had 2 transfers so far, if you need/want a buddy!

Champagneforeveryone · 21/04/2021 00:57

Yes frownette, grade 6 all over Confused

I've always wanted to do it but have always felt it would look a little unprofessional (I'm not edgy enough for it to simply look fashionable!) and I'm also not particularly feminine shaped. Combined with my work uniform there's a horrible likelihood of people addressing me as "sir" which has always deterred me in the past. However I usually have a haircut every six weeks and after four months I was desperate so bribed DS with pizza.

I'm glad I did it and for a few weeks it looked fine, but it really needs redoing now and I'm keen to look more normal so I shall be setting the lovely Steven to work to rectify the damage Grin

sunbird I would definitely go for it if it will broaden your opportunities. I always think a change is as good as a rest and if you get something out of it as well Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/04/2021 05:36

sunbird I would take the chance, too. (My young self would not have dared that is why I do what I do now, so I am biased.)

Lovely weather with birdsong and coffee.

HelenaJustina · 21/04/2021 06:34

Can’t get going this morning, need to ramp it up if I’m going to get anything achieved!

Fiercestcalm · 21/04/2021 06:49

For the second time this week, our lovely neighbours have been out fishing, caught prime fish and shared the catch with us. Eating fish caught that day is so nice especially as in the shops it would be $38 a kg. It arrives deboned and on a little paper plate with a cover. May just have to make them a large fudgey chocolate cake.

So spoiled, now I really don’t like frozen commercial fish....

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2021 07:52

I am going to the physiotherapist today. It is actually exciting not dull, because these days I rarely leave my village (in Ireland so still pretty much in lockdown), so going to the town is a day out!

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2021 07:55

Ah, fresh fish! DH went fishing on the lough (lake) with a neighbour (not strictly allowed but they were about 4m apart, on a boat outdoors), he caught nothing but the neighbour caught a huge trout and we got some fillets. Smoked them over wood on bbq, they were delicious.

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2021 08:03

On the heating issue, DH "allowed" the bedroom window to be left open all night for the first time this spring...slept much better...

Silkiecats · 21/04/2021 08:04

DS was supposed to go to his autism assessment today but just put hands over ears, shouted No then has gone to school.

Birds are singing.

Frownette · 21/04/2021 08:12

I've got a smear test this morning

DoctorTwo · 21/04/2021 09:18

Haircut didn't happen @amigababy, the barbers were shut. It looks like Plan B is needed, even if that means an extra few miles and a couple of extra days looking like a balding Cousin it.

Spudlet · 21/04/2021 10:53

@Sunbird24 Go for it! I did a similar massive project just before I went on maternity leave for my last job, and if I’d gone back I think it would have really stood me in good stead. And it was a lot of fun too.

@Silkiecats Oh dear 😕

I just came back from dropping DS off, unhitched the trailer bike and went for a long ride by myself. Stopped off at the post office to get some birthday cards and then we dragged by the nose into the butchers / deli (they make bacon sandwiches there and the smell... 😋) and came home with a pasty, a mini-quiche and cake 😁 Now sitting with an ice pack on my grumbly foot (just as a precautionary measure), digesting my coffee and cake and considering going back out to walk to the post box. Perhaps I will try to lure DH to the pub at lunchtime 😈

Squirrel26 · 21/04/2021 11:46

My dad keeps telling me about the people he has discovered who sell the fish they’ve caught that day from the beach. My mum pointed out that she’s been buying fish from them for years... Hmm

I need another coffee.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/04/2021 12:13

I am on a break - it is a very quiet day in the office, so I did some preparatory work and some cleaning of files.

No I am having water and chocolate for my effort.

Silkiecats · 21/04/2021 13:06

I've just spent 3 hours cleaning then had a bath.

Champagneforeveryone · 21/04/2021 13:22

This wasn't what being a grown up was supposed to be like is it silkie

I've cleaned and refilled the log burner, emptied the cat litter tray and I'm now waiting outside college for DS. My 17yo self would definitely be disappointed at the lack of bungee jumping and all night parties Hmm
