WFH today so I just had an omelette from lunch. I was in meetings non-stop all morning so my brain is fried.

Sodding caught another sparrow this morning. 🙁 He ran straight through the house and upstairs to show DH his badly wounded catch and was then chased all the way back down into the garden. Sodding started harrying it rather than finishing the job, so DH stepped in and put an end to its suffering. DH is still upset about it, even though it was the kindest thing to do.

Sunbird24 · 21/04/2021 13:57

I had a cheese sandwich for lunch. The bread was definitely on the stale side.

MissConductUS · 21/04/2021 14:14

Welcome, @Fiercestcalm and @theDudesmummy, and thanks for sharing your piscine and therapeutic news.

Sunbird, I'd say give the new job a go. It sounds like a great opportunity.

It's a glamorous life we are leading today Champagne The cat was watching me fascinated and I also removed and binned the old curtain DH had put over the stairgate to seperate the cat and rabbit. DH said he had done it as the cat had been hissing at the rabbit but the curtain was all bitten by rabbit.

Cat was happy it was removed so she could evil glare at rabbit and it looks better with no bitten curtain and no curtain bits.

However I am worried it was a velvet curtain from the old lady who lived here before and my new sofa covers are velvet. Doesn't look to hopeful for their life expectancy.

Going to have beans on toast and pineapple juice for a late lunch, living the dream today.

Frownette · 21/04/2021 15:47

silkie it's nice having a simple snack sometimes. I'm utterly drowning under my enthusiasm of buying 2 fruit and veg boxes this week. My brain cell overheats when I try to decide what to do with it all.

Smear tests are better now, they use a plastic disposable one and it is so quick and painfree. The nurse took one look at me and said "because you're very...slight, I'm using a narrow one". Glad it's out of the way.

RhubarbFairy · 21/04/2021 17:25

Poor DH and sparrow @soddingkitten. This week I have removed the bodies of two mice from our garden, courtesy of RhubarbCat1. We have a no man's land of trees and undergrowth at the end of our garden, separating us from the gardens of the houses behind, I tend to to put all corpses in there to decay the way nature intended.

DS1 has cricket in a hour. Just need to get some food down him first.

MissConductUS · 21/04/2021 17:35

I saved three BBQ spare ribs from dinner on Sunday and just had them for lunch. They were fab, but I dropped one onto my laptop and got some BBQ sauce on it. Fortunately, it fell onto the wrist rest portion, not the keyboard, so disaster averted.

Dboycat has yet to kill his first bird of the season on the deck, but he hasn't spent much time out there yet. The tree frogs will soon appear, but he just watches them, sometimes giving them a little paw poke.

And speaking of wildlife, someone 3 miles from me posted a Ring video of a bear in their yard last night. Ring has a website for sharing videos locally. Someone else posted a video of two coyotes in their yard a few days ago. This is why the Conduct cats are indoors only.

We have a freeze warning in place until later today. I brought my Boston ferns in from the deck.

Suffering from what I hope is a stinky cold.

niceberg · 21/04/2021 18:32

I feel too tired to get up from the table to feed the cats. I don't suppose they'll stand for it for long.

Still can't decide what colour to paint our bedroom.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 21/04/2021 18:38

DH is struggling a bit after his second Moderna - he's in bed asking me to bring things like food and water and to close the curtains.

MissConductUS · 21/04/2021 18:54

Math, it's supposed to get down to freezing here too tonight.

Welcome, @niceberg, and thanks for sharing your feline and decorating news. When my cats want feeding they yowl at me if I'm awake or walk on me if I'm asleep.

ZZtop, sorry to hear he's poorly after his second dose. If he's eating that's a good sign. The side effects usually resolve in two or three days after the jab.

Preparing for my next round of physio homework. My second appointment is tomorrow morning and perhaps I'll go into the office from there instead of working from home. They are using a jackhammer in front of the house (no hi viz)!

DD is having a netflix party with a mate in the UK and another in India.

Frownette · 21/04/2021 20:01

At least you have your lovely new shoes to support you! The physio is so important.

I felt a bit restless so just walked to the supermarket and walked up one aisle and gave myself a spritz of tester perfume, then went to another aisle and bought a large bar of dark chocolate. It was a nice stroll in the evening air.

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2021 22:18

I did my physio homework in the hot tub tonight. It really helped.

MissConductUS · 21/04/2021 22:22

DH brought in the mail and it was all for a house down the road. I wonder who got our mail.

We're getting a Tex/Mex takeaway tonight. I'm pretty jazzed about it. Smile

@Frownette

silkie it's nice having a simple snack sometimes.

Soup for the veg and freeze what you can’t eat. Smoothies for the fruit, or sorbet.

I booked a smear earlier this week for a couple of weeks’ time after ignoring a series of reminders quite a while ago. The nurse looked on the system and said my last one was in 2016. Oops. Blush

soddingkitten · 21/04/2021 22:39

MissC - a smear test is a pap test on your side of the pond, I think. Cervical cancer screening, for clarity.

MissConductUS · 21/04/2021 22:47

Thanks sodding, we use the term smear test here too, but you're right, it's much more commonly called a pap test in the US.

DH has just ordered the take away and is going out of his way to drop off the wayward mail in the correct box. He's a good egg.

Silkiecats · 21/04/2021 23:10

We had homemade leek and potato soup tonight and then I had a toblerone. DS has been balancing his diet with bourbon biscuits and custard creams tonight.

mathanxiety · 21/04/2021 23:15

I noticed there is a plastic bag tangled in a twig of the tree off my deck. It's just too far out for me to reach and it's twisted around the twig.

We used to get the mail addressed to a house several blocks away. Always the same house, never anyone else's. It happened about once every 8-10 weeks. I used to drop it off, though I once opened a Christmas card of theirs and spent a couple of minutes feeling puzzled.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/04/2021 23:16

To add to your vocab. Grin
Gebärmutterhalsbstrich zur Krebsvorsorge
the Latin tems are for the medical professionals, we normal people use the above

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/04/2021 23:21

you can use Schmiertest but the conntations are wrong, namely to dirt and unclean-nes

Frownette · 21/04/2021 23:22

@soddingkitten I assume it'll be the same for you, they'll not use stirrups (feet together, drop your knees to the side), plastic instrument and it is SO quick.

Good idea about soup, I can do onion, cabbage, carrot and green lentil Confused

I'll feel slightly like a monk, but it's healthy.

Tex mex sounds lovely MissC

Frownette · 21/04/2021 23:29

@theDudesmummy very relaxing :)

HelenaJustina · 22/04/2021 06:47

Frost here overnight, need to scrape the car.
