Today FILs TV broke, he thought he would have to buy a new one, but we were able to give him a spare old one, got it all set up for him, everyone happy ( I love reusing, recycling etc)

And food shopping was about half the normal cost, I'm aiming for a frugal week of using up what we've got, more home baking etc ( hilda I bought a butternut squash, I'll be baking that cake, thank you for the recipe)

amigababy · 19/04/2021 17:45

amigababy · 19/04/2021 17:45

MadKittenWoman · 19/04/2021 18:14

Our kitten lost his collar and our neighbour found it.

MissConductUS · 19/04/2021 18:21

Welcome, @OneToThree, and thanks for sharing your adorable rat hammock news.

@MadKittenWoman, I'm pretty sure you were on a prior thread, but if not, welcome. I really want a kitten, but our two older cats would never forgive me.

Prok, I'm glad your first day back went well.

I should be getting my hair cut tomorrow, really looking forward to it.

Silkiecats · 19/04/2021 18:33

DH has gone to his piano lesson in person instead of online. Silkiecat is not impressed.

OneToThree · 19/04/2021 18:33

@amigababy they are wonderful pets. Must be kept in pairs so they can snuggle and preen each other. Unfortunately his mate died recently.
It’s like having a naughty puppy though, they’ve chewed the sofa and a particular favourite is chewing the rubber buttons off the remote control.
But they love being stroked, come when they’re called and they can learn tricks too ❤️

HelenaJustina · 19/04/2021 18:47

Good things in the last month was the 2 week 2 day Easter break. It didn’t rain all the time and although we spent about 85% of waking hours outside, we saw actual real other people of our choosing while shivering/walking/drinking coffee (sometimes all 3 at once)

Today was an okay first day back - I always have to remind myself on the first day of a term that it’s okay not to get everything done that day - there are 5 weeks and 4 days until half term, plenty of time.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 19/04/2021 18:59

@OneToThree

Here he is, happy ratty.
He’s so cute!
Thighdentitycrisis · 19/04/2021 19:03

Bin men spread next doors cat litter all over my path - thanks

Bouledeneige · 19/04/2021 19:05

I cleaned the velvet sofa which had got really dusty. Later I went on a walk with one of my lockdown walking buddies. Today we went a different way as we were starting from my new house - down the disused railway line to the park. We enjoyed having a different way to go after so many months on the same paths.

RhubarbFairy · 19/04/2021 19:09

I forgot to share my hi-vis news from yesterday. I was on car parking duty at DS1s rugby. My fellow volunteer pulled an orange hi-vis jacket from the boot of his car before we started. I felt very underdressed.

Frownette · 19/04/2021 19:10

Ratty is gorgeous :)

Candycane57 · 19/04/2021 19:15

Hello, what a lovely few threads you've created!

I've just taken in the washing from the line, and DH has put the kids to bed. I think I'll have a bath and maybe an easter egg.

Hope you all have pleasantly mundane evenings.

Silkiecats · 19/04/2021 19:19

DH has just returned from piano lesson. I told him he's in trouble with Silkiecat. I can hear oh my poor Silkiecat how are you? Sorry Silkiecat. Would you like some extra food Silkiecat? He knows the way to Silkiecat's heart. Easter Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/04/2021 19:21

I need to get on with my Duo - I finished 3rd in my league last week. But today work got in the way.

YanTanTethera123 · 19/04/2021 19:25

My last month hasn’t been too peaceful but the weather is bucking up, the spring flowers are showing and I no longer need to dress in multiple layers so things are on the up!

MissConductUS · 19/04/2021 20:19

I had forgotten that opening a new thread usually brings a bumper crop of new posters. Smile

Welcome, @Thighdentitycrisis, @Bouledeneige, and @Candycane57, and thanks for sharing your mundane news!

Rhubarb, I saw a postie this morning delivering a package at my house wearing high vis pants. They were dark-colored with broad yellow horizontal stripes above and below the knees.

Oh I forgot. When I got back from my walk there was a police car with its lights flashing at a house a few doors away. It said dog unit and they seemed to be in the basement flat. A couple of worried looking young women in their 20s were standing outside. One of the policemen came out of the flat with a dog catching pole. No other clues than that.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/04/2021 20:49

Miss You discovered a new sub-species! Yay!

I herewith inform you all, that DH's papers continue to clutter up the big table and my second best clothes airer.
I stealthily removed 1 sheet of paper documenting the payment of our tenants' association fees (Mieterbundbeitrag) and filed it.

BurtonHouse · 19/04/2021 20:50

I got my bag of summery shoes out of the wardrobe today, although I didn't wear any of them. Tomorrow I may put my furry boots in there instead.

OrdinaryLife · 19/04/2021 21:10

Yes, its been good to see people and get out more, even if it was freezing! Flowers and Cake for everyone who had a crummy month.
The paper saga continues @Prokupatuscrakedatus!
Uni term started for ds1 which meant a flurry of random emails about him going in on wed so he's been in a major flap all day. I also bought some sweet peas and a white daisy for summer pots.

forgetthehousework · 19/04/2021 21:28

Neighbour knocked on the door a couple of hours ago to tell us that they could see sparrows disappearing into our wall through a tiny hole where there used to be an overflow pipe (taken out when we had new central heating last December). As we watched we realised that two of them were indeed going into the hole, but the other two were entering higher up under a roof tile! DH went into the loft and discovered the little buggers were building a nest, so has blocked that hole temporarily, but the other one can't be got at from inside and is too high for the ladder we have so it looks like we'll have to phone a roofer ....
At least they hadn't started laying - but they were sitting on the telephone wire outside looking, and sounding, very irate. Although nowhere near as irate as DH.

Frownette · 19/04/2021 21:35

Yeah @ZZTopGuitarSolo I can't see masks ending anytime soon! What with the talk about new variants and a third wave we'll have to play it by ear. We've had 3 waves in the UK, is it the same in the US?

My mother called not long ago and shrieked WHAT WERE YOUR BLOOD TEST RESULTS?? I'd completely forgotten to phone the surgery for them so she told me to phone right now and I was saying at 9pm? Manãna. It can wait one day.
