Yes, I am post-menopausal and don't do well when overheated, me and DH often argue about the heat on/off issue in the house. But even he said he was too hot last night, which is good for me!

Squirrel26 · 20/04/2021 11:37

I turned the heating off last night. Hopefully it can stay off for the summer now.

forgetthehousework · 20/04/2021 12:03

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

What's wrong with birds nesting? Are you going to offer them a home somwhere else?

I have seen the first bat Smile

The babies fall down into the cavity wall and die horribly because they can't fly back up and we can't get them out. It's happened a couple of times in the past and is so distressing, so we try and nip it in the bud. Occasionally they beat us to it and then a bit later in the season we get a fledgling down there too; then we open up the wall hatches and windows and they usually manage to get out, (but again, not always). Alas the wall cavities can't be filled, we've checked. The sparrows usually occupy the holly tree, I don't know why these ones decided to be different. I just hate to think of the babies suffering and dying.
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/04/2021 12:07

On the topic of heat: I am not designed for the temperatures DH thrives in (+30 °C). He is incredibly awake and in work mode, when it is hot. I think 22° is more then enough.

Physio was an unpleasant but very helpful experience with lots of explanations why and how things work. I got homework, too.

The IT squad have fixed my phone, but nobody calls.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/04/2021 12:08

Oh, and morose pigeon has found a mate Grin

Sunbird24 · 20/04/2021 12:14

Oh, even morose pigeon has a better love life than me... 🤣

soddingkitten · 20/04/2021 12:37

Is morose pigeon now perky pigeon?

Bonheurdupasse · 20/04/2021 13:26

I didn’t send my partner (?) the long ranty messages that I wrote this morning Grin

Spudlet · 20/04/2021 13:33

Prok We call them physio-terrorists here 😂 But they do help, as long as you do your homework (which I have not for the last few nights, naughty me)!

MissConductUS · 20/04/2021 14:16

Welcome, @PollyPepper, and thanks for jumping on and sharing your news. I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

Like @ZZTopGuitarSolo, I'm also in the US (New York's Hudson Highlands region) and can only offer general guidance that Cape Cod should be lovely in October. I hope the restrictions will be gone by then, but nothing about this virus seems to go to plan.

Welcome, @Bonheurdupasse, and well done on not sending the ranty messages. Apologies if I've missed any other newcomers in the rush, everyone is welcome.

Spudlet and Sodding, how lovely to see you ladies, again on the new thread! I was just wondering how sodding cat was getting on. Good luck with the job hunt!

And speaking of cats, we got a small package from Amazon last night (a spare battery for the Ring video doorbell) and DH put the box on the floor to tempt the cats. I told him the box was much too small for our cats, only to be proven wrong.

And in another sign of spring, bird traffic on the feeder is way up and the lawn is coming in nicely. It's a good thing the feeder can accommodate a few customers at a time. Smile

DH is on his way back with 2 pieces of chocolate cake.

Our plan to stuff Silkiecat full of tuna worked - she only did one little howl and I explained DH has gone to work Silkiecat and he will be back for Silkiecat later and she was fine.

Silkiecats · 20/04/2021 14:22

All cardboard boxes here are currently donated to the rabbit who is very keen on recycling them.

Frownette · 20/04/2021 15:23

@MissConductUS oh they're funny when they do that, they spot a box and get in it. I still have thrombocytopenia, spoke to surgery. I guess this means monthly blood tests still.

The wabbit knaws at the boxes silkie..? Does it make quite a mess? Well I'm glad silkiecat is assuaged! Jealous of chocolate cake.

Squirrel26 · 20/04/2021 15:28

There are some men with a lorry outside re-painting the road markings. There’s a tree in the way so I can’t see them very well. But I can see their high vis.

Silkiecats · 20/04/2021 15:36

Wabbit eats boxes Frownette and yes he and DS make the living room very untidy. DS sometimes get a bit cross as wabbit is very noisy when he eats boxes. I can hear rabbit and the boxes banging from upstairs. But at least whilst he is eating boxes he's not eating sofa. Would be better if he ate his hay but that's far too boring.

I ate both pieces of chocolate cake as DH said I could have his as he feels sick. It was hard but I didn't want him to see it and feel more sick. Now I feel like someone who ate too much chocolate cake. It looked like an Easter chocolate cake with mini Easter eggs on top.

Iwanttoknowthis · 20/04/2021 15:46

Welcome back @soddingkitten and @Spudlet I wondered where you'd both got to.

I love this weather. It is glorious here today.

We have asked DS1s drum teacher to start preparing him for his Grade 1 exam. We discussed it mid 2019 and his teacher recommended against it, but we've decided that we would like him to go for it now that he's older as DS1 thrives on having a target. His teacher is happy if DS1 is happy (he is) so they will most likely start on Friday at DS1s next lesson. DS2 had his first piano lesson since before Christmas yesterday, only his second one ever and he enjoyed being back. He came home with flashcards of different notes to learn, but when DH tested him last night, he got 9/9.

DH is off to the pub in an hour to meet a friend.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/04/2021 15:55

silkie That was very selfless of you and you made the cake fulfill its purpose in life, so more points to you.

@forgetthehousework - I see, that is indeed a problem. And great that you try to intervene early.

DD has decided that now is the time to sweep the floor. She does own a hoover....

RhubarbFairy · 20/04/2021 16:02

Bah, that was me above. Name change fail.

amigababy · 20/04/2021 16:33

Silkiecats cake sounds delicious. I'm about to sit down with a cup of tea and a scone. And watch Place in the sun ( obsession)

First visit to hairdressers in 6 months. She has rescued me from a bad home dye job and fluffy split ends. I'm like a different person. Are you happy with yours too DoctorTwo.?

MissConductUS · 20/04/2021 17:52

I just had a slice of cold, leftover homemade pizza for lunch. It was really quite good. The men like a meat lover's pizza, so this one had sausage, bacon, and spicy pepperoni.

I've made a lovely chicken and mushroom pie. Currently in the oven. Can't wait!

Frownette · 20/04/2021 18:13

I can't decide what to have for tea. I must phone my best friend, keep missing his calls, I swear he knows when I'm asleep and phones then

Champagneforeveryone · 20/04/2021 19:41

I have a haircut booked for Thursday (really far too exciting for this thread) where I will have to confess to shaving my head in lockdown desperation Grin

I selflessly took the little car to work so DH could have the big car to take DS to Explorers. However DS has cried off so I'm stuck with the roller skate little car and my lovely big car is sat forlornly outside the house.

soddingkitten · 20/04/2021 19:41

Snap! It was delicious.

I am preparing to do the homework the physio set me:
exercises 3x10 - soda (natron) footbath in lukewarm water 20 min - Quarkwickel (no idea what that is in English, but a well tested and cheap thing to do) 20 min - exercises 3x 10
and of course clean up afterwards. Grin
