Yes, it's been a funny old ride. I was a bit slow on the uptake at first when the pandemic started but now optimistic about getting out of it. Are things still much restricted in US? I think we're allowed to sit in cafes next month. Council offices/local museum open next month. Non essential shops open already.
My dull/unexciting is that I'm about to make a cup of tea.
In my bit of the US (Maine) lockdown ended last summer, but we're still wearing masks everywhere, and school is still in hybrid mode.
My high schoolers switch to 4 days a week in-school next month, although if the Covid rates stay as high as they are right now then I'm not convinced that will happen. They are still doing 3' distancing in schools and wearing masks throughout - not sure how they'll do that with 90%+ of students in, but they seem to think it's possible. Lots of marquees and outdoor classes I think.
Vaccinations open up officially to all over 16s throughout the US today, although they've been open in my state for a couple of weeks now, and 2 of my 3 teens have had their first shot. I get my second Moderna shot this week.
I've just been to Massachussetts, where things are noticeably less open than in Maine - very few museums seem to be open for example.
DH flies back and forth to Florida quite a lot for work and says it's Covid Central down there - everyone is catching it, but things are still opening back up. He was so relieved to get a Covid vaccine before his travel restarted fully.
My parents have booked flights to visit us from the UK in October, so I have everything crossed that this can actually happen. If the US doesn't open borders to people from Europe by then, I'm tempted to meet them in a third country eg Mexico or Costa Rica.
