We went to the safari park with DS as wanted to get him out as he's hardly left the house and also went almost mute in lockdown. He had a nice time, only got three words out of him, thank you and no but lots of gestures and he waved at a man and a little girl who waved back. I said do you know them and DS shook his head no but nice he was waving.

Dd has gone out with a friends, she was out with friends all yesterday as well in London.

Dh came back and said oh my darling Silkiecat your Papa is so very sorry for leaving you and he will cuddle you a lot now. Bunny is very bouncy. Having a Sunday roast. Dh is phoning France, not sure we will be allowed there this year again and his Mum is 88 and lives alone.

Spudlet · 16/05/2021 18:51

Spuddog is much less wobbly today, although he does start to veer off to the side if he tries to speed up beyond a gentle walk. However I think his eye is twitching less.

The vet only gave us motion sickness medication for one day so we will have to see how he is in the morning and decide whether to ring to ask for some more. I hope he’ll be ok as the bill is already over £500 😬 We have told him that he is not allowed to be unwell in any way for another 12 months Grin (He isn’t insured as the premiums and excess got ridiculous once he turned 10 - even with the bill we’re still a couple of grand better off by cancelling it).

Champagneforeveryone · 16/05/2021 19:24

We have that conversation on loop spudlet.

When we lost DDog1 earlier this year his bill was over £1400. In fairness it's the first time I've ever been caught out like that, and I've had numerous dogs over the years. We could afford it, and in any case we keep a credit card for vets bills as they seem reluctant to direct claim these days but it was an anxious time nonetheless.

Nydj · 16/05/2021 21:59

I have watched the rain come down today.

sproutsandparsnips · 16/05/2021 22:04

Sorry, I have fallen behind with the thread but have now caught up.
MissConductUS your foliage is impressive and your surroundings are lovely Smile
Glad to hear of the safe return of Soddingkitten.
Been in work all day today and tomorrow. After today's shenanigans I am not looking forward to tomorrow but will be over in less than 24 hours.

Frownette · 16/05/2021 23:52

It's so hard with much loved pets. You always worry about them and it's difficult to say goodbye.

My dull and unexciting news is that I went to the supermarket earlier and bought strawberries, raspberry drink and a bottle of water. The same cat comes up and head butts me on the leg en route. So I sort of give it a stroke then try not to let him follow me.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 17/05/2021 00:11

Missed a couple of days of online life due to a sodding migraine.

Been planting stuff, getting out the hammock - think we have almost the same as you do MissConduct - and did 2 hours of Covid testing at the high school.

Lovely weather this weekend. Our apple blossom tree is setting off my hay fever big time but is gorgeous.

MissConductUS · 17/05/2021 01:31

Lovely apple blossoms, ZZTop. Sorry you were under the weather for so long. It is a great hammock.

It's great to see you Frownette. Where do your strawberries in the UK come from? Ours come from Mexico in the winter, and Florida in the spring. Last summer we went strawberry picking at a local farm. I'd love to do that again. The cat that follows you loves you. Smile

Frownette, the cat sounds really cute.

I went to my local chemist last week which is not far from my home, both cats followed me into the town and after telling them off before I went in the chemist, they lay down to wait for me. As I was getting my script I saw someone leaving and as the door opened boy cat was making a dive behind the jewellery counter, heading for the window displays. I made a sudden dive and caught offending cat before he had a chance to knock much stuff over, took my scripts and carried out the cat letting both cats come back home behind me.

Silkiecats · 17/05/2021 04:01

Welcome back Frownette, fellow nocturnal creature Grin

I have just installed Office on my new laptop.

mathanxiety · 17/05/2021 05:45

I bought some more plants at Walmart today - a nice looking lavender which I will surely kill in due course, and two clearance items - pinks and violas, which I know from experience are hard to kill but I may succeed anyway.

Sorry to hear of Spuddog's health problems.

HelenaJustina · 17/05/2021 06:13

Busy day today. DC3 turns 10 (how can that possibly be true!) and we are interviewing at work. I won’t be doing the lesson observation or panel interviews but I’ve done all the pre-interview admin/organising and will do all the post match analysis and bumpf.

IWanderedLonely · 17/05/2021 07:43

Put the warm on snooze ywice. It is grey and cold, and MondaySad.
We recorded the Davina McCall programme about the menopause (Wednesday?) and watched last night. An eye-opener for DH.

Spudlet · 17/05/2021 08:19

Spuddog is still wobbly this morning and was a little reluctant to eat, but he finished his breakfast off when I hand fed him. And then he jumped up onto the sofa under his own steam! He’s been having all sorts of trouble getting up over the weekend, we’ve been lifting him on as his front and back ends just weren’t working in sync. So that’s a big improvement.

I might still call the vets later today to ask if they think he needs more motion sickness tablets but he seems to be gradually on the mend.

MissConductUS · 17/05/2021 12:06

I finished watching The Durrells this morning. What a sad ending. Amazon Prime threw me right into My Mother & Other Strangers, which is set in Scotland in 1943. Since I like period dramas I think I'll give it a go.

I'm taking DH to the hospital to get him admitted for his surgery, then going from there to work. He'll stay over tonight and I'll pick him up tomorrow. I'm taking a day of AL tomorrow.

I'm glad to hear Spuddog is still on the mend. It's going to get rather hot this week and who knows when the AC will be fixed. I'll ring the company this morning and give them a push.

DH cut the lawn this morning in bright sunshine and we planned to go for a walk together at lunchtime. About 30 mins ago the torrential rain set in. 🙄 I am having lunch in front of the TV with a large cup of tea to hand instead.

soddingkitten · 17/05/2021 12:29

Sodding has been snoring on the armchair in my office since mid-morning.

theDudesmummy · 17/05/2021 13:09

My DH caught lots of fish (trout) yesterday and we are going to eat some tonight.

Silkiecats · 17/05/2021 14:15

Hope your DHs operation goes well MissC Is your DS at home now?

Happy birthday to you DC Helena

Just trying to book cat hotel and chicken and rabbit hotel for summer, cat needs somewhere fancy now as she's old and has standards of service required and DS said my wabbit and silkies need a hotel too. Costs us a fortune now but is lovely to know being well looked after. The cat will definitely ensure she gets value for money. They serve fresh fish on china plates which she likes.

Office is now loaded on computer. Our apple tree is also in blossom. Birds are singing.

Champagneforeveryone · 17/05/2021 15:28

Another little section of the coast path done, fortunately avoiding the rain this time. DDog2 came along again and has been beautifully behaved again - most unsettling.

I've just locked ChampagneCat's new magical door as there is thunder forecast, and I'm not sure DH could cope with the stress of her being out while it thunders. ChampagneCat is unimpressed that the magical door has stopped granting her access to the outside world so soon.

soddingkitten · 17/05/2021 15:37

Bright sunshine here again. I have just reopened the sodden garden parasol in the vain hope that we can catch the sweet spot (between biblical deluges) where it has dried enough to put it away in the shed.

soddingkitten · 17/05/2021 16:04

I asked DH to get the parasol in at 4pm as it was nearly dry. It’s bucketing down again. 😠

MissConductUS · 17/05/2021 16:29

DH successfully dropped off. He's probably in surgery now. I had a quick chat with the surgeon and we marked the correct hip together.

Silkie, DS is home these days and done with uni work, so he'll be around to help DH during the day.

The first bud on my gloxinia has opened! (I may have prodded it a little to encourage it…) This is good because I’ve had it since my grandad died 30 years ago next month, and some years it doesn’t flower.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 17/05/2021 17:03

Sorry to hear of Spuddog's health problems.

I bought lots of Walmart plans too - intrigued to see how many I manage to kill. They're such a good price I almost don't care.

The last two years we've bought lots of herbs there, then planted them out on the deck and used them loads for cooking.
