@MissConductUS

DH successfully dropped off. He's probably in surgery now. I had a quick chat with the surgeon and we marked the correct hip together.

Silkie, DS is home these days and done with uni work, so he'll be around to help DH during the day.

Hope he's out soon, and recovering nicely!
ZZTopGuitarSolo · 17/05/2021 17:10

News that is perhaps too exciting for this thread, but my sister is getting a new puppy soon, and they're planning to FaceTime me today while visiting her, so that I can meet her.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/05/2021 17:50

@ZZTopGuitarSolo - You have commited yourself to post a puppy foto for the benefit of your petless fellow beings (please...)

MissConductUS · 17/05/2021 18:00

@Sunbird24 - what a lovely flower!

ZZtop, I gave up on buying flowers at Walmart ages ago. Maybe mine didn't care for them properly. I now get them at nurseries where they are started on site.

I've just done a bit of research and discovered that My Mother & Other Strangers is set in Ireland, not Scotland.

The surgeon just rang my mobile. DH is out of surgery, did fine, and is headed for the recovery room.

Glad your DH is doing well @MissConductUS!

@ZZTopGuitarSolo That is very exciting! What kind are they getting?

I have just had to remove a tick from Spuddog’s lip. Talk about adding insult to injury, the poor old thing! All done now though.

Champagneforeveryone · 17/05/2021 19:11

Poor spuddog Sad

Have you ever tried a Seresto collar for him spudlet?

Glad your DH is in recovery miss, will you be required to furnish him with a Dressing Gown of Doom or will he soldier manfully on?

I had my coil fitting this morning, and am suffering with some cramping now. Having seen a video of what is involved DH is being very solicitous, which I could get used to Wink

Spudlet · 17/05/2021 19:16

Is that one of the insecticide ones? I did many years ago but I didn’t realise that it was really bad for aquatic wildlife, and he’s a keen swimmer. So we just do regular checks now.

He’s on the mend, even though the tick removal sent him a bit cross-eyed. But it would have done anyway, I think! He enjoyed some garden time earlier and even managed a small trot in a very nearly straight line - progress indeed. Smile

MissConductUS · 17/05/2021 19:58

Champagne, only time will tell, but historically he is pretty stoic. I haven't seen the dressing gown of doom in him at any point in our relationship. And he has tramadol. Smile He might complain about the food though.

The hospital is supposed to text me when he's moved to his room. He has a private room. It's a very nice hospital. If I don't hear from them I'm just going to leave and go over there to wait.

One of the neighbours is mowing their lawn which has made the magpie very noisy.

Dh went to his piano lesson. Have a salad for dinner with Roquefort, rocket, walnut and pear.

HelenaJustina · 17/05/2021 20:21

We are on our third biblical deluge of hail and rain. I got very wet at work but stayed dry on my run. DC1 will currently be getting soaked to the skin at Scouts! And I need to persuade an over excited newly 10yr old to go to bed..:

Nydj · 17/05/2021 20:37

I’m glad your DH’s op went well, @MissConductUS.

I watched more rain today but with thunder and lightning thrown in for a change.

MissConductUS · 18/05/2021 00:07

I've been to visit DH at the hospital. He was a bit groggy but okay. The pain meds they gave him prior to the surgery were still working, but he'll get more tonight.

His dinner was a bit grim. Fortunately, it's just for one night. And we're not going to have AC until Friday as the parts won't be here until Thursday. Temps will peak at 28-30 degrees C, so we'll live.

Good to hear your DH is on the mend.

28-30C? You’ve only just got shot of your snow!

I know. Life is hard in the colonies. Grin

By the way, the hospital was posh. They renovated a few years ago. The whole surgical recovery ward was lovely private rooms.

No puppy FaceTime yet. They’re saying later this week. I think I will die of suspense. I think she’s a lab? Or a retriever? Or both? She sounds completely adorable.

Frownette · 18/05/2021 03:01

I just woke up as my mother tried to call. Doubt it's anything important, she is not a respector of time-friendly calls.

@Sunbird24 what a lovely way to remember your grandfather.

@MissConductUS hope DH ok!

@ChampagneCat so cat decided to use new catflap?!

Silkie hope you're sleeping better than me tonight!

mathanxiety · 18/05/2021 05:06

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your DH, MissC.

Worked a solid 12 hours today, came home, ate dinner, went for a little walk with DD3, did the washing up, and now en route to bed. I love heading to bed on Monday nights.

Spudlet · 18/05/2021 08:22

Hope your DH is feeling ok this morning @MissConductUS, whenever this morning gets to you? I’m not very good at working out time differences 😳

Spuddog is still wobbling today so I’m going to call the vets and see what they can suggest when they open. He may need some more motion sickness tablets. In other news I have applied moisturiser with fake tan to my legs in the hope of them not looking quite so hideous in my running shorts - hoping I won’t turn them orange or stripy...

HappyStep1 · 18/05/2021 09:41

My DP has gone away for work and taken the toothpaste

Silkiecats · 18/05/2021 10:24

DH slept in, silkiecat told him off as he even overslept her by not getting up until 10.20am

MissConductUS · 18/05/2021 10:43

Good morning, thread folk.

Since I'm taking a day of annual leave today I've had a bit of a lie in.

Spudlet, I'm five hours behind you, so it's 5:40 here. DH has just texted me that he needs a cat cuddle, so I've sent him a picture of a cat.

Since we're quite close to filling up this thread I've started the next one:

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 15: Calmly through the day
