There's the Alliance Francaise in London and Cambridge that currently do online courses for adults

I remember having pea eating competitions with DS (versus DD) though DS did eat long brocolli as he said it was like trees. And decorating plates to make food look like faces with carrot 🥕 noses and pea smiley mouths.

Champagneforeveryone · 14/05/2021 12:44

First dose of vaccine done, the hardest part was parking up. I'm slightly unsettled by the efficiency of it all Wink

Bobrosspaintbrush · 14/05/2021 13:06

I managed to pick up some bottles of old and unimproved irn bru. Since they made everything taste horrible with the sugar tax the only fizzy pop I can drink is coke.

MissConductUS · 14/05/2021 14:18

Welcome, @Bobrosspaintbrush, and thanks for sharing your beverage news. I had never heard of irn bru, but google enlightened me.

Champagne, it is quite efficient, isn't it? By the way, I can assure you that I have never seen "hussy" written on a patient's chart, in red or any other color. "Difficult", yes, and PFH (patient from Hell) a few times, but never hussy.

DH has had another chat with the owner of the HVAC company and it turns out that all of the dodgy parts in the condenser were covered under the warranty, not just the compressor because DH registered the warranty online within 90 days of the purchase. So it will be less expensive to repair the existing unit than to replace it. I just want to get it working before the hot weather sets in.

Lovely Neighbour called me earlier to say she’d seen Sodding on the garage roof of one of the houses on the street we back on to, which involves getting across a high-walled back lane. To our mind it was the Grand Canyon but we decided to see if he could get back on his own without her opening her back gate. A rattle of his treat box summoned him home safely. Turns out he is very agile and has just added another 20+ gardens to his manor. I am now terrified he’ll get on to the busy road at the end of our block, but we cannot contain his energy as a house cat so we have to give him that freedom. 😣

I managed to sell on some baby equipment from the loft via Gumtree. That is one less thing to trip over in my home working space. 🎉

soddingkitten · 14/05/2021 15:21

We emptied the loft at new year. It has been underfoot ever since.

It’s not uncommon for women who have a new sexual partner to develop HPV infection.(for example someone in a new relationship after a divorce.) But AFAIK HPV does not make moral judgements, so it doesn’t only happen if you’re having an affair.

I read a letter the other day describing someone as having an ‘incompetent right ureter.’ Rude.

Spudlet · 14/05/2021 16:15

DS and I are just contemplating some baking. We only have one brownie left, so a crisis will be brewing tomorrow at coffee time if we don’t get on top of the situation.

I submitted a test piece to a writing website earlier - one where you get paid for doing little bits of copy here and there. Apparently they are only taking on for star writers at the moment. I’m not sure if I count as a four star writer or not, but can’t hurt to give it a go. Might be a few weeks before I hear back though.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/05/2021 16:44

To compensate for the shitty weather I brought a white chocolate cheese cake home.

Spudlet · 14/05/2021 17:35

I am going into extremely polite battle with my GP’s surgery over getting access to DS’s profile on the NHS app. This will make it much easier to request appointments and repeat prescriptions. The app made it sound quite simple, but the surgery have refused because DS is under 16 (I mean yes, that’s why I want to be able to access it. How many five year olds do they think are going to be organising their own healthcare?!). Hmm

I have replied with a screenshot of the relevant page of the app, and am awaiting their reply... probably won’t get one until Monday now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/05/2021 18:02

spudlet I don't envy you!
Ds has let his medication run out, yay!

FourTurnings · 14/05/2021 18:27

Never mind the healthcare spudlet. I’m worried about the brownie situation.

Spudlet · 14/05/2021 18:37

No need to fear @FourTurnings, DS and I have taken the brownie situation in hand. The thought of the wailing and gnashing of teeth should we have got to coffee time tomorrow in a cakeless state was more than I could stand Grin

DS has had beans on toast for dinner tonight! That’s the first time he’s eaten that for the best part of a year! And they count as a vegetable! I was very very good and stayed cool and left the room before doing a triumphant fist pump and dance around BlushGrin

MissConductUS · 14/05/2021 18:52

@Spudlet, do you have a brownie with your coffee in the morning? If so, that's really decadent. Grin

Your GP's office may not know how to give you access to your son's records in the app. Or there may be some sort of IT glitch preventing it.

FourTurnings · 14/05/2021 19:23

Glad to hear it spudlet

theDudesmummy · 14/05/2021 20:17

It rained hard during the riding lesson this evening. DS was stoic. And wet by the end.

Silkiecats · 14/05/2021 20:25

Dh has gone to pick up the 🐈 renal diet food and a Chinese takeaway.

DD has been invited to a maths summer school, just online this year due to covid.

Spudlet · 14/05/2021 21:02

Spuddog has just had a very funny turn, bless him - he was sulking about being made to lie in his basket while we ate (as opposed to stealing things from our plates) and I think he sent his leg to sleep because he was staggering around all over the place when he got up. He didn’t seem confused or overly distressed though, so I gave him a good stroke and a massage (his leg was twitching) and he’s fine now, bless him. Leaping onto the sofa and running around the garden quite cheerfully.

Poor old dog. We’ve got more time behind us than in front now, and it’s making me terribly sad tonight.

Silkiecats · 14/05/2021 21:47

Poor Spuddog Silkiecat had that a few times a couple of years ago and keeled over a couple of times and was sick, vet couldn't find anything and said maybe arthritis in back legs. Though Silkiecat would argue that Spudog and her have extreme weakness caused by from lack of food and the third dinner is really essential and the special diet from the vet is additional food and not meant to replace eating half the humans dinners.

DH has just gone on the phone and Silkiecat is howling in his ear, she hates being second.

Spudlet · 15/05/2021 07:14

Well, Spuddog had another, more prolonged episode at about 10 last night and has spent the night at the vets. Worried to death about the old boy, but we haven’t heard anything through the night so that at least is good news. Not relishing the bill either as he’s no longer insured... bang goes the home improvement budget, but at least we do have that money in reserve. He’s such a dear old dog and I fear the worst for him 😢

soddingkitten · 15/05/2021 07:54

Sorry to hear about Spuddog Spudlet. It is such a worry when a pet is unwell. I am sure he will have been well cared for by the vet. I hope they get to the bottom of what’s going on quickly. 💐

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/05/2021 08:15

spudlet I hope it is something that can be resolved!

Our LL sent us a raise in rent note - which he is entitled to and which is backed up by evidence. So no problem. But I think it is time for him to install new WC's and rectify the stupid things he did when he thought he could tile.

Champagneforeveryone · 15/05/2021 09:08

Fingers crossed for spuddog Sad Home improvements are overrated anyway!

In overly exciting news, I have booked a holiday for next year.

Covid jab was fine. I've slept for 14 hours (not unusual as had just finished nights) and have a very achy arm, but otherwise appear ok.

Spudlet · 15/05/2021 09:46

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. I haven’t spoken to the actual vet yet, but I’ve spoken to the receptionist, and apparently he’s had a good night, they’re really pleased with him, and he’s ‘eating loads’ which definitely sounds like him. The vet last night scared me half to death talking about brain tumours and organ failure, so it’s a relief to know he at least can’t be feeling too awful. Waiting for a call now to let me know how he’s doing. I didn’t sleep very well last night so I feel flipping shattered now.

I just want the smelly, farty, trip hazard creating, whinging at the door to go out the second you sit down, annoying little bugger home.
