I hope it’s good news from the vet about spuddog and that he is home very soon.

Another wet and miserable day here today.

Well done on booking your holiday for next year @Champagneforeveryone. We have a small uk break for later in the month and the weather looks set to be wet and miserable 😖

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 15/05/2021 11:53

Morning all. DW's work kit is washed, the shower is being unblocked, I've killed 30 pirates in Elite Dangerous since getting back from the shops. Lunch will be lamb samosas, followed by Bisodol.

Silkiecats · 15/05/2021 12:00

Hope Spuddog is back home recovered soon, good sign he is eating. Good luck with the vets bills, Silkiecats was £1000 and at the end the vet said to me you were right there is nothing wrong with her apart from the kidneys and arthritis is back leg which is was I told him expected when took her in.

I didn't expect her to survive long but she's here being annoying 2 years on so hopefully you will have a few years yet. DH took DD for haircut, orthodontist and train to London and Silkicat howled from first minute he left to minute he arrived. Sad She bit him when he told her he was going out.

Silkiecats · 15/05/2021 12:02

Dh says he will spend the next 2 hours cuddling Silkiecat to be forgiven.

Portlandia · 15/05/2021 12:05

I managed a half hour bootcamp class this morning, felt like I was close to passing out and throwing up 15 mins in but breathed through it and managed to carry on. Partner was ill yesterday after we ate kippers, don't know if that's what made me feel unwell today too.

theDudesmummy · 15/05/2021 12:09

Wet and miserable here too, and DS is on the pony. Wearing waterproofs though.

HelenaJustina · 15/05/2021 13:37

I’ve been stoic this morning too @theDudesmummy I stood in the drizzle for 90 minutes while 7yr old DC4 did football training.

Spudlet · 15/05/2021 13:44

HE’S HOME!

He’s a bit under the weather and wobbly, but Spuddog is back where he belongs. He has idiopathic vestibular disorder (I think it’s called) which apparently happens to older dogs sometimes - it’s a bit like being drunk or having vertigo for him. But it should clear up within a couple of days, and we have some anti-nausea medication until then. He’s currently curled up on his favourite armchair resting, his eyes are a bit twitchy and he got very wobbly when we arrived home, I think due to the car ride and the excitement of being home. But he’s starting to relax now and hopefully that will help.

I can’t tell you how good it is to have him back 😊

Spudlet · 15/05/2021 13:46

Thank you all for your good wishes CakeSmile Spuddog says thank you too.

Had a bit of a lie in this morning - woke up at 8.00, and read until 8.45 am 😊😊
Spent this morning down the yard feeding and pampering my mare, and chatting to another livery.
Currently reading with one cat on my knee, and the other at my feet. Plnaming on speusing this afternoon colouring and working on a 1000 piece jigsaw which I've been doing since February. Will then be making macaroni cheese 😊😊.

Champagneforeveryone · 15/05/2021 16:58

So glad to hear that spudlet

Our lovely neighbour has just told us some news that has strengthened my strong feelings about his husband. I've taken myself aback by the level of fury poor DH has been subjected to on lovely neighbours behalf, but I feel much better for it now Grin

We took a trip out today to buy DH some new boots (rather like Cinderella and her glass slipper) and I've managed to buy chicken Kiev pies in M&S. I would say this level of excitement is too much for this thread but we haven't tried them yet Wink

MissConductUS · 15/05/2021 17:19

Happy Caturday one and all! My goodness, the thread is jumping today and we're in the final innings on this episode.

Welcome, @DisgraceToTheYChromosome, @Portlandia, and @StephieSlade, and thanks for sharing your news!

I'm so pleased Spuddog has returned from the vet, not much the worse for wear.

@Champagneforeveryone, I'm glad you've come through your jab okay. What fury has your DH been subjected to in regard to your lovely neighbors?

I've just started watching the fourth and final season of The Durrells and I can't stand the thought that it's going to end. After Foyle's War, this is the best British TV I've ever seen.

It's a lovely day here. A tree trimming crew just worked its way slowly past our house, which the cats considered excessively noisy and distracting.

What do you like best about British drama, MissC, or find the most different from US TV? I watched The Durrells recently with DS and liked that all the characters had their own quirks, strengths and failings. The scenery was lovely too.

I’ve had a very slow day and completed almost none of the tasks I had planned.

FourTurnings · 15/05/2021 18:35

We’re getting an Indian takeaway tonight. I’ve got M & S Carbonara’s for the kids as they’re not keen on Indian.

Currently watching ‘Motherland’ with a Magners.

theDudesmummy · 15/05/2021 19:02

@HelenaJustina I sat in the nice dry car! We got pizzas afterwards. I ordered them too big and there is a lot left. I was supposed to do some work this afternoon but I bingewatched Season 3 of 30Rock instead.

soddingkitten · 15/05/2021 20:06

DH and I recently discovered Motherland. I rewatched a couple of episodes with DS2 earlier this week. He loved it, describing it as “very relatable.” I’m not sure what that says about our parenting. 🤣 It would be a good pick for MissC as the humour is quintessentially British, especially the not complaining and ensuing choked resentment.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/05/2021 20:15

Very little rain today - I did some work in my "garden" and the usual weekly cleaning.
DD has introduced me to instagram, which I only knew from posts on MN, now I "follow" most of my favourite museums, architecture photography and spider lovers.

soddingkitten · 15/05/2021 23:15

Sodding has gone missing. 😔 I went to call for him one last time before going to bed and it is raining. That made me cry. I hate the thought of him being cold, wet and hungry somewhere, or injured.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/05/2021 23:37

@soddingkitten
Oh no, that is worrying. I keep my fingers crossed (ich halte die Daumen).

MissConductUS · 15/05/2021 23:43

@soddingkitten, oh no, that's awful for you. He's probably hiding under a tree or something hoping the rain will stop. Please post again when he returns or I'll worry for you all night.

Amazon Prime has Motherland, for $2 per episode, so I"ll watch some and see how I like it. Thanks for the suggestion.

As to what I like about British telly, I think it's a lot of things. I like period pieces and you have lots of them. They're pretty rare in American TV. I like the eccentricity of the characters. And the cultural differences are also very interesting. I learn a lot about British attitudes towards class, romantic life, politics, all sorts of things that I can't really learn about on MN. And I love the fact that some of it clicks for me, particularly the slang I've learned on MN. In The Durrells there was an episode where the doctor's wife was looking for something to do and she said to Louisa "Your house is always a tip, I'll come over and clean". That made perfect sense to me, thanks to all of you. Grin

Please do keep us posted about Sodding.

Hope Soddingkitten returns home soon. Hopefully he is snuggled up warm at a neighbours and will be back shortly.

Glad Spuddog is OK now.

Dd went to hairdressers, orthodontists and London today. I just booked a canoe trip to see otters hopefully in a few weeks time.

mathanxiety · 16/05/2021 04:57

Hope Soddingkitten returns Sad

HelenaJustina · 16/05/2021 07:26

Did you get much sleep @soddingkitten ?

Having been to Mass last night, I’m up in time to go again this morning as DC4 didn’t fit the ‘youth’ age bracket for yesterday’s Mass. They are also the only DC who don’t yet appreciate a lie-in and so 9am Mass doesn’t elicit automatic groaning.

soddingkitten · 16/05/2021 07:29
Spudlet · 16/05/2021 08:09

Oh no, I’ve only just seen this! Hope Sodding is home safe and sound with you soon @soddingkitten Flowers
