@SinisterBumFacedCat

Tk max, I know other people rave about it, but it just feels like an overpriced glorified jumble sale where people are only buying shit for the label.
I don’t get it either. I’ve bought a few things from there, sunglasses and something else I don’t recall, but other people seem to buy everything there. I simply can’t work it out.
midsomermurderess · 28/03/2021 21:12

The couple of time I have wandered in to Tk Max I've felt panicky and just turned around and left. It would take a lot to convince me that sticking with it and endlessly rummaging was in any way worth it.

GenderApostate19 · 28/03/2021 21:15

Primark. Nasty polyester clothes that look hideous and are bad for the enviroment.
Boden, I don’t think I’ve even seen a shop anywhere.
Russell and Bromley, can’t get over the price of the shoes in there.
Weird fish - don’t get the attraction.
Rohan - too expensive.
Lush - can’t bear to go near the place.

LoveCauliflowerCheese · 28/03/2021 21:22

Hush - looks SO overpriced!

LoveCauliflowerCheese · 28/03/2021 21:24

Whaaaat?! I suppose you may not live in the UK though, so I should rein in the shock.

3CCC · 28/03/2021 21:42

Going off places mentioned in this thread haven't brought anything from the following places

Boden
Bon Marche
Principals
Coast
All Saints
Gregg
Miss Selfridge
Jigsaw
Hobbs
Oliver Bonas
Mint Velvet
Massimo Dutti
Whistles
V high fashion places Gucci, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace etc

LoveCauliflowerCheese · 28/03/2021 21:57

I live in London @LubaLuca
Never seen a B&M 🤷‍♀️

StanfordPines · 28/03/2021 21:59

I live in London *@LubaLuca* Never seen a B&M 🤷‍♀️
There are hundreds in London. www.bmstores.co.uk/stores?location=London
LemonRoses · 28/03/2021 22:11

I don’t think we have some of the shops mentioned but I’ve never been in;
Primark
JD sports
Not sure what B&M is, but haven’t been there.
Not sure what Peacocks is either.
Don’t purchase from places like Greg’s or Subway.
Can’t think I’ve ever bought anything from Iceland the shop.
Not sure I’ve even seen a shop called Romans.
Poundland isn’t somewhere I’d go in.
Never seen a Home Bargains unless it’s BHS renamed.
I’m guessing Wilkinson is hardware. We have Robert Dyas instead.

There must be lots of others I don’t go into. I don’t go to Superdrug but use Boots. Maybe I have been to Superdrug at some point in th past, but I can’t recall doing so.

Super dry....so over priced...i have a few hoodies that i picked up at a car boot sale for a few quid....as an aside...it was started up by a geeky looking guy with Deirdre [ coronation st ] glasses yet has morphed into this pricey pseudo japanese style...very clever of him...he started it in his garden shed !

Joules

I’m a tomboy and into sports so literally all my clothes come from sports shops. Everywhere I shop for the kids.

Timeisavirtue · 28/03/2021 22:27

@LoveCauliflowerCheese

What is B&M?
😱 H&M is one of them guilty pleasure places you go to pick up a load of crap you don’t really need but just have to buy. I don’t go often maybe 1/2 per year and spend over £150 each Time.
Timeisavirtue · 28/03/2021 22:27

B&m

Volcanoexplorer · 28/03/2021 22:31

Zara. I realised years ago they only make clothes for tall skinny women so I haven’t even set foot in one for more than 10 years.

oneglassandpuzzled · 28/03/2021 22:34

@Lurleene

I had a similar experience to BikeRunSki in Zara, I never shop in there either.

I have never spent a penny in Superdry (for my kids not me) as the first time I went in there the guy working in there was so breathtakingly rude.

Zara is always untidy and full of synthetic stuff, in weird sizing, in our local one. I haven’t bought anything from them.
diwrnachoflleyn · 28/03/2021 22:38

Toast
Cos
Hobbs

Bouledeneige · 28/03/2021 22:40

RampantIvy · 28/03/2021 22:41

DD once applied for a job at Xara, and they told her she would have to dye her hair a conventional colour. I think it was pink at the time.

SmaugMum · 28/03/2021 22:50

@LaceyBetty

A couple of people have said McDonalds. I'm not a regular but have you really NEVER had anything from one? Ever?
In my 50s and I have never set foot in a McDonald’s. Honestly. I do occasionally eat meat but I would rather go hungry than venture through the Golden Arches. Ha! So funny how my phone has automatically autocorrected Golden Arches to capitals! Just shows the hold the McDonald’s brand has over the universe.
RampantIvy · 28/03/2021 22:53

I admit to being a bit of a foodie, but I also enjoy the odd McDonalds now and then.

Usually at Durham Services when taking/collecting DD to and from university Grin
