@Mrsjayy

I am very small and not very stylish Bon Marche did leg lengths so I would stock up on black trousers in teeny leg lengths it closed before lockdown and I'll miss it Blush
And I had the opposite problem in that none of the trousers they sold were long enough for me. I have bought really good quality, thick cotton T-shirts from there though. I bought a lovely green one last year, covered with horrible blingy sequins. I unpicked all the sequins and now it looks lovely Grin
Mrsjayy · 28/03/2021 12:13

I have a couple of their t shirts they wash great no bling on them though Rampantivy 😀

Loads. Even before the pandemic I was getting most things delivered. Hate shopping unless it’s charity shops for good quality clothing.

This is a list of the only places I shop 😂
ElephantsNest · 28/03/2021 12:23

People like me are killing the high street but it’s partly down to rude shop assistants, trouble getting clothing refunded when not bought online and mixed sex changing room policies.

LadyJaye · 28/03/2021 12:25

I have never been to Starbucks (it's a personal crusade, as they bought out a tiny indy coffee shop of which I was very fond during their period of hyper-expansion in the early 00s, and ruined it).

I don't think I've been to New Look in over a decade, but I did shop there quite a lot when I was younger.

Onlinedilema · 28/03/2021 12:28

I love Home Bargains & B&M. I bought a garden tub from B& M yesterday the same on line was more than double the price. Last week I bought a rhodedendron from B & M and it's looking good so far. I tend to buy a lot of gardening things from those shops. The daffodils I have in my garden now were from Homebargains.

Oliver Bonas
I only recently realised it's not a charity shop - clearly my uncouth brain can't tell the difference between eclecticism and jumble

Mochudubh · 28/03/2021 12:47

@BikeRunSki

Zara - the only time I’ve ever been in I asked a sakes assistant to explain the sizing. She looked at me wit raised eyebrows and said “We don’t make clothes for people as big as you”. I was a size 14 at the time. That was the end of my relationship with Zara.
My friend was (allegedly, I wasn't there) asked to leave Pepperberry because she wasn't big enough!

Obviously not all places have the same shops. (Our nearest big town is going to have no shops at all the way things are going) Boden is on your list but I have never even seen a Boden shop, ever.

I’ve never heard of Poundstretcher
microgirl · 28/03/2021 15:16

@Sparklingbrook there's two Boden stores in London as far as I know.

JovialNickname · 28/03/2021 15:25

Never been to, or eaten anything from Greggs- just don't fancy it when there are nicer food options around

Never been to the Krispy Kreme drive thru near me, or had one of their doughnuts. Because I know I'd like them too much so trying not to get hooked in the first place!

Expensive shops like John Lewis, Habitat etc. for financial reasons. Wilkos all the way for me!

Oh down South then. That’ll be why. Grin I’ve never bought anything from them by mail order either but they aren’t really my bag.

PickAChew · 28/03/2021 15:36

I've shopped in all the shops available to me, too, simply by means of age and changes in personal circumstances - apart from Peacocks, Matalan and Bon marche and lots of the young women's and " designer" stores that weren't around when I was young - Psyche, Select and the like. Only bought kids' stuff from Zara because I'm a 14, too.

And not all Saints, either. I did go in to look at and sniff a handbag, once in the 5 minutes I had spare before my bus was due, and the sales advisor was so pushy that I almost missed my bus. Needless to say, I chose a different bag from somewher else.

I tend to do Waitrose and markses for food and Savers and Poundland and the like for basic toiletries, toothbrushes etc.

HermitsLife · 28/03/2021 15:37

@draughtycatflap

I’ve never been in Edward and Tubb’s local shop for the ‘precious things’.
Haha, I wouldn't recommend it @draughtycatflap Grin
Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2021 15:41

I love Savers, I daren't go in because I will buy all the stuff. Blush I do love John Lewis online for a browse and an occasional treat. When they are open again I'll be there in person-it's just nice.

user1493494961 · 28/03/2021 15:44

New Look or TK Maxx

expectopelargonium · 28/03/2021 15:48

I'm pushing 60. There aren't all that many shops I haven't been into at one time or another. But there are some that were a 'never again' - Hollister being one.

RampantIvy · 28/03/2021 15:51

I never get rude shop assistants, I have never had trouble getting a refund, and I have never shopped anywhere that has mixed sex changing rooms, or if I have there weren’t any men around. I am always polite to retail staff because I am polite to everyone, and I get politeness back.

I am so sad for retail workers. I love a good mooch round the shops, and hate clothes shopping online.

and the sales advisor was so pushy that I almost missed my bus.

@PickAChew my friend’s DD had a part time job at All Saints for a short time. They have ridiculous sales targets and are told to approach each customer a minimum of times, Not sure how many though. They terminated her employment because she couldn’t hit her £700 a day sales target.

What’s wrong with Hollister , the one at Bluewater has the most helpful staff of any clothes shop I’ve ever been in . I’ve never bought anything in TKMaxx , I’ve only been in a couple of times and I just can’t get to grips with it at all . I’ve never bought / been in a charity shop except to drop stuff off .
PattyPan · 28/03/2021 15:55

I’ve never been in a Savers although there is one here. What differentiates it from eg Superdrug?

RampantIvy · 28/03/2021 16:00

Hollister have improved the lighting in their shops now. You don't need a torch to find your way round Grin. DD likes their underwear.
