What shops have you never bought anything from?

These are all in my local area and I've never bought from them.

Next
New look
Joules
Boden
M&S (was given a £20 gift card from them, struggled to find anything to buy so sold it)
Waitress
Fat face
Mountain warehouse
Costa coffee
Starbucks
Boots (use pharmacy but never bought from the actual shop)

Camper shoes- I used to work near one of their shops and regularly went in but never bought any. Confused

LynetteScavo · 28/03/2021 10:36

Mint Velvet.

I feel I should, but nothing ever grabs me enough.

NotSorry · 28/03/2021 10:42

Hollister - my dd dragged me in there once and I couldn’t see - strange place

Sketchers. They don't stock wide fit trainers in their store. So online we go

Phase 8. They don't stock plus size in their store. So online we go

Monsoon. We don't stock much in bigger sizes but there might be some. So online we go

And so on. I try!

LynetteScavo · 28/03/2021 10:42

Bonmarche

(Not to be confused with Le Bon Marche)

DeciduousPerennial · 28/03/2021 10:44

Given the amount of shops that exist, it would be a damning indictment on the world if I was able to type a short list of the ones I hadn’t shopped in, instead of the ones I had.....

🤷🏻‍♀️

Mrsjayy · 28/03/2021 10:46

I am very small and not very stylish Bon Marche did leg lengths so I would stock up on black trousers in teeny leg lengths it closed before lockdown and I'll miss it Blush

Twobrews · 28/03/2021 10:47

@Sparklingbrook

I was in Home Bargains last night. Is it really that much cheaper than elsewhere? Same as The Range-that never seems much cheaper to me.
Soup, butter and cottage cheese are consistently cheaper in Home Bargains or B&M than in the supermarkets where they're on offer sporadically. I go every other week to stock up.

I've always shopped at M&S even when we were very skint. It was much closer to walk to which made all the difference when there wasn't a massive amount of food to eat. I knew all the best times for yellow stickers, and still rejoice about the time I got four fillet steaks and two legs of lamb for less than £10!

LubaLuca · 28/03/2021 10:49

I can't think of a regular, high street shop that I've never bought anything from.

FunnyWonder · 28/03/2021 10:49

I realise it's not the same as OP selling an M&S voucher to get better value elsewhere, but this reminded me of my dad. He loved books and music, so people would give him vouchers to spend. But he wouldn't go into the shops on principle, because you could get the items cheaper elsewhere! Some vouchers just expired. I benefited from a few!!

lljkk · 28/03/2021 10:49

Wow. I joke that the global economy would collapse if everyone bought as little new as I do -- and even I have bought something from most of these.

My offerings, never bought new items from (am age mid 50s btw)...

the White Company
TK Maxx
(Miss)/ Selfridges
River Island
Netto
Mamas & Papas
Laura Ashley
Harvey Nichols
Cath Kidston
Fat Face
Boden
Apple

I love everything in Fat Face, but can't stomach the prices.

I've never really studied the food aisles in Home Bargains that closely, I'll have to have a look next time. I think it's odd that they sell loads of stuff exactly the same price as elsewhere, B&M's the same.

draughtycatflap · 28/03/2021 10:51

I’ve never been in Edward and Tubb’s local shop for the ‘precious things’.

Shops you've never bought anything from
Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 28/03/2021 10:59

i think dd might have bought somethign in hollister and i accompanied her! what a nightmare experience, how ridiculous!

LaceyBetty · 28/03/2021 11:15

A couple of people have said McDonalds. I'm not a regular but have you really NEVER had anything from one? Ever?

PattyPan · 28/03/2021 11:19

The Range, as that other thread reminded me
Zara
Monsoon
Poundland
Superdry
White Company
Iceland
Shoe Zone
Clarks
Don’t think I’ve bought clothes from Matalan, only home stuff

I went to Home Bargains after hearing people rave about it on here and came away just with some soda crystals, I was so disappointed!
I’ve only been to B&M once as well and just bought an artificial Xmas tree, they didn’t seem to sell the sort of stuff I buy regularly.

I don’t think M&S is that expensive for basics. I buy things like jeans, bras and knickers there - £6 for a pack of 5 knickers doesn’t seem extortionate, even Primark knickers are £1 a pair.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 28/03/2021 11:38

Never been to:

Jigsaw
Hobbs
Zara

Their stuff always looks beautiful but seems to be made for people with a Kate Middleton figure. I have E-cup boobs and just feel like a whale when I go there. Struggle with Boden too, although their leggings are cracking.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 28/03/2021 11:41

@LudoBear
Unfortunately not everyone is in a well paid job and can afford to shop in M&S, Waitrose etc. They are incredibly expensive to me.

I get that. If you have never been absolutely on your uppers and struggling to stretch out every pound, you don't think see how an M&S sandwich is beyond people's budget. I have been there and I get it.

Boots though? Not even for a prescription or a pack of home brand paracetamol??

Gingernaut · 28/03/2021 11:45

Zara
Cos
White Company
Fat Face
Levi's
Matalan
Miss Selfridge
Playboy - will never buy from them

Home Bargains sell a type of block pure butter that's noticeably softer than normal sorts and only £1.29. I go every few weeks to stock up.

They also sell proper Spanish allioli that you can't get in most British supermarkets (the one in the yellow tub).

But if you shop carefully in M&S it doesn't need to be expensive. They sell loafs of sliced bread for about 60 pence, 15 free range eggs for £2, a lot of their sausages and bacon, milk, salad and some other veg are the same price as other supermarkets like Morrisons, Asda and Tesco. Canned soup for 50 p, 3 Magnum type ice creams in interesting flavours for £1.50.

A lot of their basic clothes like black work trousers, jeans for about £20, t-shirts are about £6 and the quality is streets ahead of the likes of Primark.

The meal deals are often good value if you get a whole chicken.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2021 12:02

I feel the same about Waitrose @BarbaraofSeville. Yes you can buy all the very expensive non essential goodies if they are within your budget, but if not it's also entirely doable to buy the essentials that don't cost the earth if you shop wisely.

LimaFoxtrotCharlie · 28/03/2021 12:04

Once and never again, I’d rather go without. Same applies to KFC and Starbucks

M&S butter is £1.50. 20p isn’t such a massive saving.

Doyoumindfisithere · 28/03/2021 12:07

I had McDonalds 20+ years ago, but never had KFC.
