What shops have you never bought anything from?

These are all in my local area and I've never bought from them.

I'm 46 FWIW. I have shopped in both B&M and Fortnums in my time, they're very good at what they do.

Starbucks
Joules
Boden
Fatface
Monsoon
Gap
House of frazer
Zara or most other clothes shops that are more fancy than next/newlook!

@BlusteryLake

I have never bought from Primark, White Stuff or Monsoon. The colour palette of the latter two always seems a bit muted for my liking. Primark just makes me feel overwhelmed by a sea of poor quality stuff that looks like it wouldn't last a week.
Primark has some gems, you often find natural fibres and I've got stuff that I've owned over a decade and still looks good. I don't like throw away fashion but I can't always afford to pay more.

Zara - the only time I’ve ever been in I asked a sakes assistant to explain the sizing. She looked at me wit raised eyebrows and said “We don’t make clothes for people as big as you”. I was a size 14 at the time. That was the end of my relationship with Zara.
They are renowned for it, must be part of the application process.
TedMullins · 28/03/2021 09:39

Never bought from joules, Boden, fat face or white stuff or any of the more expensive high street shops like reiss, hush, whistles or Karen millen. Haven’t bought from matalan either, not through snobbishness but I’ve never lived near one!

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2021 09:42

I really can’t understand the inability to spend a £20 voucher in M&S Confused

NoProblem123 · 28/03/2021 09:42

Zara - which is really annoying as other people often look great in clothes apparently brought from Zara.

Joules
River Island
Primary
TKMax
New Look

GreenClock · 28/03/2021 09:44

Paperchase
The Range
Bon Marche

Can’t think of many others!

I’d use an M&S voucher for food shopping. Or school uniform.

Great idea for a thread!

whoamitojudge · 28/03/2021 09:46

Aldi and Lidl

LudoBear · 28/03/2021 09:48

Those commenting on me not spending the £20 voucher... by selling it I would have been able to get more for my money in other shops. It came from a food bank, if that helps you to understand. Rather than £20 worth of food in M&S I could probably get a couple more items in morrisons for same price. I actually used the money for petrol to get me to a job interview.

See now I love M&S jeggings they fit me really well, wash well and suit my body shape. For some reason I seem to get 10-15% off them on my sparks card. They are great for work can be dressed up or down.

I’ve never been in new look, or Zara, Hobbs, cos, toast, haven’t been into face face or white stuff for years (probably 10) h&m is another I’ve never been in, never purchased clothes from John Lewis either (did buy some towels and they were crap prefer Asda’s) phase eight absolutely nothing I liked and very expensive!

Very occasionally I shop at next online (some great bargains on their clearance online)

I do buy from joules eBay outlet, but have never been in a store.

I buy primarks super high waisted skinny jeans as they come in a 34 inch leg which is good and for £10 a bit of a bargain I have a pair which is 5 years old now and still going really well, the newer ones don’t seem to last as long.

I love Sainsburys clothes.

BeautyQueenIamNot · 28/03/2021 09:51

Never been in a Debenhams, peacocks or sports direct

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2021 09:53

This thread is more about shopping in stores within your budget really then. Which everyone does.

Hazel444 · 28/03/2021 09:53

@LudoBear

I shop in morrisons, tesco, poundland, poundstretcher, home bargains, b&m, the range, matalan.
Over the years I've bought from pretty much all the shops mentioned in your OP, but from your list of shops you do buy from I've only shopped in Tesco. We don't have most of those other shops you mention locally..

Does the M&S near you not have a good hall?

That's understandable, but the question read as though you meant which shops aren't to your taste rather than shops you can't afford, hence some of the answers.

Do you buy all your clothes from Matalan and Morrison? There are a lot more shops out there.

The list of places you do shop is tiny.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2021 09:56

@CeeceeBloomingdale yes I agree. It read as if the OP just didn’t like the shops much to me. Not a budget thing.

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/03/2021 09:59

I have shopped in most of these at some point but some only seldom. Never bought from Matalan or Sports Direct though. I have a local Super Dry so have been in it but it’s not generally my taste. Probably couldn’t live without Boots or M&S for just every day ‘stuff’ though..

Imissmoominmama · 28/03/2021 10:00

I will never shop in Primark. Not because I’m rich, but because I’d rather shop in a charity shop than buy throwaway fashion.

Sprongles · 28/03/2021 10:03

B&M
Lidl
Primark
Aldi
New Look
Matalan

RampantIvy · 28/03/2021 10:04

I'm jealous that so many of you live somewhere with decent charity shops. The charity shops here tend to sell Primark, Next and M and S cast offs, and nothing more upmarket than that.

IEat · 28/03/2021 10:07

Top Shop .. even in my thin years i was too big to fit into anything!
